  1. Will write last nights' run up soon but man... it slammed me. It was only about 12km but the first 6km were running into a gale-force headwind and it felt like I was barely moving. Before I turned the corner which put the wind behind me (YAY) I think I had only managed to average a 5.30/km pace and I felt pretty smashed, but the homeward bound tailwind must have really helped me out as I finished up with a sub 5min/km pace

  3. Stage diving is a bit mental aye, I think I would have to be drunk before I considered it lol. Does look fun though, assuming it all goes to plan haha.
  4. Look forward to seeing what you are drinking !! Well I'm going to have to do a night run tonight as I didn't wake up in time to fit a long run in. Have to go into work for a few hours today but luckily for me I love my job...
  5. Here's my burger-fueled lunch from today mmmmmmmmm... http://www.veganbodybuilding.com/forum/download/file.php?id=3518 Off to bed now, hoping to get up early enough to fit in a decent run of about 3hrs tomorrow morning.

  7. What an amazing day today was. We headed over to a little place called Diamond Harbour, found a great little cafe that served top coffee and the best vegan burger I have had in a long time. The girls loved it too, amazing scenery and a short cruise ride to get there and back. This is what life is all about aye
  8. LOL, sounds like a solid plan there Ross. Seriously though, when I next get over to the UK we do have to meet up okay ?!
  9. Yeah, maybe you could look at increasing your cardio slightly and varying the intensity of each session to keep the body guessing. Cut out beer, WTF? Shit no !!!!
  10. Tried a new NZ beer last night, 5.4% so it had a nice kick to it !! 11% and most of your fat is around your belly aye... maybe I should think before I post up photos of delicious beer
  11. Man we actually have some really great beers here, these are some of my favourites...

  14. I didn't have a beer for a few days after the run, not sure why as it's one thing I crave after hard sessions. Maybe I just forgot as I was catching up with friends and just having a good old time I only did the 50km run NOT the 50miles, mine was the 'baby ultra'. 5th place yeah, but there were only 10 people running the 50km lol. I let a guy pass me about 30km in and I didn't realise he and I were in the same group otherwise I would have stuck with him, I let him go after I spent a couple of minutes in the toilet and it was only at prize giving I realised the bugger had got 3rd place. I should have skipped the toilet and stayed on his heels grrrrrrrr.

  17. Here's a couple of photos from the Sri Chinmoy site... http://gallery.srichinmoyraces.org/d/905279-2/DSC_0021.jpg http://gallery.srichinmoyraces.org/d/905366-2/DSC_0473.jpg OFFICIAL RESULTS: http://nz.srichinmoyraces.org/chch100k2014
  18. Thanks Hobbs! Immediately afterwards, I felt great. The nausea that hit me between 44-48km had passed and my legs felt surprisingly fresh. The morning after the race they were feeling pretty good too ~ just a little bit of inflammation in my left knee and that was about it really. Today is 48hrs after and I have no DOMS at all; quads, hams and calves all feel as normal and after resting up yesterday and today I'll be back out training tomorrow as normal.
  19. Don't really know how many cals I would eat in a day, probably somewhere between 2,000-3,000 but depends what I am doing sports wise. I'm someone that looks bigger than what they weigh I sit around 130lb as a runner and 140-145 when I am powerlifting.
  20. Have never raced a 50km before, ended up just taking it a little slower than I would run a marathon. Fairly pleased with the result and you definitely require a completely different mindset than PL'ing. SPLITS 5km: 27:30 10km: 56:00 20km: 1.52.00 30km: 2.50.00 42.2km: 3.55:00 50km: 4.45:21 CALORIES: 2,993 (624cal/hr) AVE SPD: 10.51kph AVE PCE: 5.42min/km MAX SPD: 15.54kph MAX PCE: 3.51min/km Not fast by any means but I hung in there as my goal was to finish inside 5hrs
  21. Can't believe you got drunk and now have a hangover, WTF? Oh hold on, I'm in Ross's journal. Sorry I thought I was in someone elses ~ please take back that comment!
  22. The race went pretty well ~ I got 5th overall. Back for the awards ceremony in a few hours, wasn't as hard as I had imagined it would be SPLITS 5km: 27:30 10km: 56:00 20km: 1.52.00 30km: 2.50.00 42.2km: 3.55:00 50km: 4.45:21 CALORIES: 2,993 (624cal/hr) AVE SPD: 10.51kph AVE PCE: 5.42min/km MAX SPD: 15.54kph MAX PCE: 3.51min/km OFFICIAL RESULTS: http://nz.srichinmoyraces.org/chch100k2014
