  1. I think I am going to get this one- http://www.cafepress.com/human_animals.46356247 http://images.cafepress.com/product/46356247_240x240_F.jpg It has the double effect of making fun of Bush and intimating that we are closely related to our fellow animals- -Joel
  2. Yeah, I'm thinking I'll just refuse- Although that just means someone else in the company will do the job, but at least I get to make a point and not directly participate. My boss says he was a vegetarian for 20 years at one point, so perhaps he will understand? I did protest our company's support of the March of Dimes and vocally refused to solicit donations, recommending that people visit marchofcrimes.com to see where there donations are really going- JB
  3. What would you do if your job required you to do something involving producing advertising material for say, a chicken restaurant? What about just restaurants in general that happen to serve meat? Where would you draw the line? This came up at one point when I was vegetarian but not as into animal rights, so I thought I'd better think it up incase it happens again- Thanks Joel
  4. Just don't take anything that makes your eyes get as big as the guy in the bottom pic- that's trouble! -Joel
  5. Welcome here, seems like a cool board- Some very fit Vegans around here- Joel
  6. Hey, here are some photographs, I suppose these can go in this section since it is an introduction- Maybe I will post workout pics after I get a camera? Protesting KFC in CT- http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j6/joelbct/New_Haven_CT_KFC_Wheelchair_April_0.jpg With a family member who is also a vegetarian- http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j6/joelbct/DSC_0014forWeb.jpg At a farm in the midwest- http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j6/joelbct/JoelatFarm1.jpg -Joel
  7. Hey- Well the first brand of soy imitation-yogurt was awful, but thankfully the Silk tastes good and has the proper consistency, especially with wheat germ and dried cranberries. It might be kind of hard to find, luckily there is a whole-foods-type vegetarian and organic grocery store here in New Haven. Just thought I'd share this discovery.... Joel
  8. Ohhh, so I've got some sort of lousy taste abililties huh ?
  9. Interesting discussion. Reminds me of the anti-renewable energy lobbying, vast sums of oil money and legislation fighting the large-scale use of solar, wind, geothermal- Senator Stevens from Alaska (big oil state of course) introduced legislation that made the proposed giant wind farm of Cape Cod illegal- what a prick!! Anway, I just ordered 3 bottles of the Nutiva Hemp organic protein powder, I'll let you all know on the verdict- Joel
  10. Welcome- I've cut out dairy and eggs for 5 days, does feel like an accomplishment- And there are so many healthy delicious non-animal derived foods out there anyway! JB
  11. Thats weird, I love raw or cooked broccoli- Funny how that works, I think it's because my mom always made it growing up- JB
  12. I have been using Jarrow Green Defense, I think it's pretty Awesome ($15 for 30 day supply below) http://www.luckyvitamin.com/790011170105.html Includes Yaeyama Chlorella, Wheat Grass, Barley Grass, Quinoa, Spinach, Broccoli, and many more- Yummy.... I think I'll have some now actually. Also using Jarrow Broccomax, which has Sulfuruphane extracted mechanically from broccoli seeds- http://www.luckyvitamin.com/790011200260.html This one looks good too, but I haven't used it yet, Berry superfoods: http://www.luckyvitamin.com/790011200178.html Cheers- Joel
  13. I am 22, living in New Haven, Connecticut, working and going back to school this Fall. I grew up in the NY metro area, and have lived in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Long Island, CT, Indiana, and Minneapolis. I was an athlete in high school, not a superstar, but I had my moments, played soccer and track. After going through some tribulations myself, I suppose I became a bit sensitive to the sufferings of animals, and began attempting vegetarianism a few years ago. I have been starting to work out again the past few months, which feels great, just jogging and some basic free weights and calisthenics, so you all are definitely inspirational in proving you can be a vegetarian or vegan and still get ripped. Interestingly, after staying with a relative on a Farm in the midwest for a few months, I subconsciously started eating more tofu and less meat- The cows seem friendly, but more than a bit suspicious when you look them in the eyes, what can I say- this may have been the start of the vegetarianism for me. I am a supporter of Farm Sanctuary and PETA as well. OK, thats all for now- Joel
  14. Hey- Anyone know where to find a vegan source A and D supplement, or vegan foods that are high in A and D? Also, looking for organic rice, soy, or other vegan protein powders available online- I've been using Jarrow Rice powder recently, but it is nonorganic- Thanks, JB
  15. I heard Gene Bauston of Farm Sanctuary speak last week at a conference here in Connecticut, he gave an excellent talk- For our own health, the environment, and the animals, seems like veganism is the best and the only sustainable path- JB
  16. Hey, nice board here, you are all quite inspriring- So as of yesterday, midway through some scrambled eggs, I have determined to try cutting out dairy and eggs- Any tips? -JB
