  2. I've got a Linux box, just haven't turned it on in a while I think it has some older version of Ubuntu on it For years I let the local LUG have their meetings in my office. I furnished them with a very nice machine to use.

  7. I never did the 30 day challenge, but I have converted to a high raw diet. Ultimately I would like to be 100% raw, but I don't see it happening while living in Montana. The choices are slim up here. I think I would starve in the winter. What I do eat that is cooked is usually vegetables so that isn't too bad.
  8. 09:00 - 2 hours on treadmill, not as much incline, throat still scratchy 4:30 - 90 minutes on treadmill 14:30 for the month so far
  9. 3:00 PM - Barbell Bench Press and Abs I decided to get on the treadmill with my scratchy throat. I did 2 hours at a less incline and it wasn't too bad. So until my throat feels better, I'll just use less incline. The downside was I burned about 10% less calories per hour. Oh well, 90% of what I usually do is better than nothing. 10:00 PM - 2 hours on treadmill 11 hours total for the month
  10. Well, my scratchy throat isn't going away. It seems to get worse when I treadmill. So I'm going to take at least a couple more days off. I will still try to do a little lifting unless I start coughing. My neighbor mentioned that it could be the smoke from all the fires we have. I noticed the smoke smell was very bad one night, I hope he is right.
  11. I've never donated blood before this. I didn't eat because they were offering free cholesterol check with the donation. The other times I had blood work done, they wanted me to fast. This is only a simple cholesterol check, no other tests, so food is ok. I hope my cholesterol has dropped under 150 by now. Next time I will have a meal before going. Good thing I had bananas in my car, all they had was junk food.
  12. I gave blood today and got the iron test. She said that my blood "dropped like a rock" There is plenty of iron in my blood. I went in without eating for 12 hours. They tried to push cheese and crackers and some gatorade on me. So I ate a couple bananas in the car and drank a couple bottles of water. I didn't want to explain my diet so I just told them I gave up junk food.

  14. Thanks Gaia Did the research show significantly more fat burned? If I walk for 2 hours at the gym and rest for 20 minutes every 1/2 hour, that would add another hour to my time in the gym. I don't know if it would make a difference in the study, but I walk with an incline instead of run.
  15. Thanks Mark My dedication is fueled by wanting to lose my excess weight. Seeing results also helps a lot. Very motivational. I'm really hoping that I can lose 2 more inches this month. Gotta stick to the clean raw diet.

  17. I made my goal of 30,000 calories burned in July. I estimate that I did about 63 hours on the treadmill This month I'm aiming for 75 hours. I'm not going to count calories this time. I'm also not going to track my food. It's still going to be high raw, lots of fruit, and definitely more green salads. Last month I lost 2 inches around the waist. My goal for August is 2 more inches. 4:00 PM - 2 hours on treadmill 10:30 - weak bench press workout, I've lost some strength in the last month 11:00 - 1 hour on treadmill 3 hours on treadmill total for the day
  18. I take a liter bottle of water with me to the gym when I treadmill. I take a swallow of water about every 5 minutes. After an hour, my shirt is wet down to my stomach. I finish what's left of the liter in the last 5 minutes during the "cool down" When I do 2 hours, I stretch the water out. But I've notice that I sweat a lot less during the 2nd hour. Am I getting dehydrated?
  19. Thanks Crystal I estimate that I lost about 2 inches around the waist. Very happy with that. In a couple days I start working on the next 2 inches
  20. I made it to 40,000 in 30 days. I'm going to take this morning off (and maybe a couple more days) I've had this annoying dry throat and cough for a little while. Hopefully it will go away with a few days of rest.

  23. I'll post pictures when I'm at my goal waistline. Not quite sexy yet. Gettin better though. I will be 44 years young September 24th. Maybe I'll be ready to post a picture of myself by then.
