  1. Did the thyroid blood tests and levels were off. I think it was from diet since I ate lot of goitrogens foods such as broccoli, kale, millet, peanuts, etc . Been trying to avoid a lot of goitrogen foods to see if that helps. Thanks for the advice in regard of iodine.
  2. You can get protein and build muscle from raw food. Try spouting Quinoa, beans or nuts Nuts have protein veggies like Kale and broccoli have protein The problem is raw diet seems time consuming if you want to sprout.
  3. Do you also feel that fruit isn't satisfying. I always feel more hungry after eating a piece of fruit. Sorry to ask a personal question but with your diet and training are your men cycles normal. Please continue to update us on your diet and training since you will be competing. Want to know what works and doesn't work for you
  4. what are your thoughts regarding dry fruits like mulberries or gojis. How about nuts. DO you eat them. Why no peppers. Is it because of bloat or not organic
  5. I will be following your blog since I'm curious to see which vegan diet works for you before comp. vegan diets can be pricey too. Nuts, seeds, almond butter, sprouted grains cost a lot. Organic fruits and veggies also cost a lot. An organic red pepper can cost $5 a pound which is crazy. If a fruit isn't in season than that cost adds up. If you like grapefruit, try a pummelo. Pummelos are in season now and it tastes so good. It looks like a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee grapefruit LOL. good luck
  6. So I read that goitrogen foods can slow your thyroid. Did anybody have any luck regulating thyroid without meds? What did you cut out of diet or add to diet to get thyroid back on track Sample list of goitrogen foods . Peanuts Pine Nuts Sweet Potatoes Spinach Pears Millet Strawberries Bamboo Shoots Kale Collard Greens Cauliflower Brussels Sprouts Broccoli Mustard Greens Radishes Rutabagas Turnips Cabbage Canola Bok Choy Horseradish
  7. Hey Rob, Thanks for your feedback. Did you find a good running shoe yet?
  8. Hey Rob, Sorry for all the diet questions but how do you feel gluten free. Do you still cook foods or just eating more natural such as nuts, seeds,, fruits and veggies. Do you also stay away from real soy such as edamame
  9. Hi Rob, Is it possible to gain muscle tone from a lot of fruit. Are there any fruit that should be avoided due to the high sugar content? Do you eat nuts and seeds or are you following mostly the 80/10/10 diet.
  10. not into the barefeet shoes. Just looking for a quality running shoe and cross trainer that is vegan and provides good support.
  11. What are the top vegan running and cross training sneakers.
  12. Any thoughts about the fruit pummelo. It taste good but there isn't much info on the net about health benefits or sugar contact.
  13. Hey Rob, Would it be possible to do the 12 days of nutrition/workout plan again this year in time for the holidays. i enjoyed reading your lists. Kept me motivated. I recently saw one of your youtube video that you were with two other vegans at a co-op store buying groceries. I found the video really interesting and was nice to see how 3 different vegan athletes ate for top performance. I thought your diet was the most realist to stay on vegan track. What are your thoughts about the raw vegan girl in your video diet of mostly fruits and veggies with no nuts and seeds. Me personally find that I'm not satisfied on mostly fruits. Always hungry.
  14. got another idea for you. With the prep of the hurricane sandy on the east coast. Did you notice how the water and bread were gone in the reg supermarkets and how the health food stores still had bread and water. Then again the bread and water at the health food store are organic.
  15. Hi Co, Got some other ideas for you. You can goof on when you are paying for something and the bill comes out to something like $6.02 and you give the cashier $11.05 so you will get back $5 but the cashier looks so clueless and looks at the cash strangely. Usually you will have to explain to the cashier that you want $5 back. Does it drive you crazy when a local politician sends you flyers every day. I want to send their flyers back to them with other junk mail so they get the hint to stop sending me junk. You live on the east coast. It is funny how so many people are at the supermarkets this weekend stocking up on food and water. Meanwhile the health food store has normal traffic volume. Good question for your vegan crowd is what food do they stock up before a storm. What is the essentials. Are they paranoid. Would be an interesting topic to get all involve. Some could be funny.
  16. try eating dark greens such as kale, broccoli, etc. Hemp seeds is high in iron. toss that in your salad pumpkin seeds has a lot of iron. Quinoa is healthy too. get a blood test for your vitamin d, thyroid and iron levels
  17. I don't eat process foods. I'm thinking the bloat is from the peppers, broccoli, kale, salad, etc Started to eat more fruit since it has water however like another post mentioned fruit is not filling. Just feel more hungry
  18. Hey Co, I got a couple of funny ideas for you. I saw a woman buy organic sugar at the health food store. You can talk about vegan Halloween ideas and how people hate going to vegan houses for treats.
  19. You can always come onstage eating a box of animal crackers or a bag of vegan gummy bears. BTW did I mention that I'm a vegan.
  20. The best jokes are stuff people can relate to. I think you should go to a health food store or a gym and observe peoples behavior. You can come up with some good material. For instance I see people park in the handicap space at the gym but yet goes for a jog on the treadmill or take a bootcamp class. I tend to notice that it is very rare to see a fit person naked in the locker room but yet so many out of shape people are walking around the locker room naked. The gym that I go to doesn't have many tv stations to watch but yet most people are on the cardio machine watching the food network. jokes about doctor offices are also funny.
  21. Which foods are good to eat to reduce bloat. It seems like veggies like peppers, broccoli, kale and cauliflower can make a person look bloated. I think certain nuts and fruits may also cause bloat.
  22. very interesting regarding the high intensity cardio. I agree that HIT also makes me more hungry. Is the same true about high intensity weight training? The person that mentioned don't do HIT every day can you share your exercise/gym routine. thanks
  23. haha you are the exemption Jungle since you are competing. Jungle you need to bulk soon since fruit taste so good this time of the year. Addicted. Still cant find the soy/black bean pasta that you like. Eventually will order that online if you claim it taste good.
  24. Just read the above thread What are the bulkers eating??? However the info is from 2007 to present. So many pages which makes me believe people stopped posting in July. From what I read a lot of bulkers ate fruit. I always thought fruit is water weight and didn't really add to building muscle. On the topic of fruit now that many fruits will not be in season in the next month or two do you cut back on bulking with fruit?
