  1. What do you think are Diego Sanchez's chances against Fitch? I love him, but I was really disappointed when we lost to that tard Josh Kostchek.

  3. Exactly. That whole fight I was on pins and needles hoping he would win. It would be sweet if he went all the way, score one for the vegan team!
  4. Out of all the spiritual successors of Ishmael Quinn has written, My Ishmael is my favorite. Ishmael opened my eyes. The Story of B made me angry. My Ishmael amazed me in ways, after reading this book my life just about fell into place on what I want my goals to be. Amazing books!
  5. Finbarrio. I actually think he said something like, "i cant just go in the kitchen and eat the beef and chicken in the fridge, I dont eat that garbage" Something like that. Sorry to correct you, but when he said that I was sold on him!
  6. Being that eating raw foods seem much more expensive to me that being vegan, how much do you guys spend on your raw foods a week? I try to eat 100 percent raw, and when I do I use about 200 dollars a week on food. I try to lower this amount, and am the middle of doing a raw diet switch to cheaper, more filling high calorie foods. But its hard. How much do you spend?
  7. I found these in my grocery store and couldnt believe how nutritious they were. Calories and protein alike! Is its bad if I eat ALOT of this. Like a cup a day. Would it be better if I sprout this and still eat about a cup a day?
  8. You Are Destined to Rule the World You have the makings of a very evil dictator... Which is both kind of cool and kind of scary! Will you rule the world? Maybe. Maybe not. But at least you know that you could. Are You Destined For World Domination?
  9. Are you doing it this season? I know the Premier League has already started but if you are is it too late? If it is, its cool. Im doing a La Liga fantasy team right now! Go Barca!
  10. When your on vacation, do you take it as a time to relax or do you still work out? Im going to portland this Saturday - Tuesday and it will be appx 6 days of no working out (due to schedule). Does this help your body, or hinder it? I figured if I did a few push ups on a couple of those days ill be ok. Your thoughts?
  11. All your information on this is very well researched, but I am still with Bigbwii. Gorillas are big because they are gorillas. They have the DNA that makes them that big. They eat all those greens because its the most efficiant way to fuel their bodys. Now I dont disagree that eating a lot of greens helps increase human strength, but if your eating a balanced raw/fruitarian diet I believe it works better anyways.
  12. Jealous of your dead lifts! Awesome! My 1RM is only 146. Im skinny :/
  13. I told him my worries, and he said he can lower the price to 50 dollars a month with taking KM only on Saturday. Thats 8 hours of class a monthfor 50 dollars. With that that would leave me pretty good free time for my other training regimes. I know martial arts are muscle memory, and it seems after a week of no classes wouldnt my muscle never really retain that martial arts memory that is necessary?
  14. Thanks. One my first try out class I was taught stick defense and take away, choke defense, and general krav maga stances. Its not a typical KM class. They broke away from the Krav Maga name and started doing there own. They also train in weapon offense too. He said I could take Muay Thai on tues and thurs when I dont have school and KM/P3 on Saturdays. Even though I like Muay Thai, I wasnt looking to take Muay Thai.
  15. I started my martial arts about 5 years ago. Because we didnt have any Jeet Kune Do gyms in Utah at the time I trained out of books and videos, occasionally having sparring nights in a basement of a friends house. I joined a Muay Thai gym a couple years later because all of my friends were joining Not a very good reason. I didnt like the atmosphere and the bully attitude of most the people in the gym. Plus I felt I already knew how to fight I wanted to learn self defense. Sadly, most Muay Thai schools in america train for boxing rings and thats all. I tore my knee during a horribly executed kick which I was never trained on how to throw. So I quit the gym and got surgery instead. The next year was weightlifting and rehabilitating. Currently I have been training myself again in JKD, alone, which is horrible for learning, and doing crossfit exercises. My question: There is a Krav Maga gym here and a JKD gym here now. I am not going to be in Utah very long, Im moving to Portland in 6 months. So I want to take Krav Maga because its a fighting system that relies strictly on street self defense and dont mind taking for a short period of time, until I move to Portland and join a straight blast gym up there. I would really like to take JKD, but I dont want to take it for six months, then leave :/ Anyways. Krav Maga: 79 a month, classes are days I have school. Except Saturday. So only real day to take the class I can make is Saturday. JKD: Classes I can take whenever. 125 a month. OUCH! I need to make a decision. Just ranting :/
  16. I would only say Muay Thai if its Muay Thai Boran. A lot has been lost in Muay Thai becoming a sport that the original warfare style of muay thai is being forgotten. If it was a sport specific muay thai, a lot could beat it. Give me Muay Thai Boran for this anyday
  17. http://www.isga-sprouts.org/sprouts.htm I just found that website. When I went into Wild Oats last night and looked at the mung beans, the nutritional value for 1/4 was huge! So I was excited when you said its about equal to the sprouts. But I found this nutritional chart online. Any thoughts?
  18. I am a number cruncher when it comes to calories, carbs, proteins, and fats in my food. On the bananas topic veganpotter mentioned sprouting as a very cheap way of getting heavy food. How do I calculate the calories and everything when I eat these sprouts? Do I just measure a cup of beans, list the calories and go based on that?
  19. +1 for Rocky. Although, I do have to admit, I can one up Rocky anyday with this guy: Jean Claude FTW!
  20. Sprout what and how. My extent to eating sprouts come from going to Wild Oats and buying brocolli sprouts and sunflower seed sprouts.
  21. I eat 10 a day also. Although I am trying to find new ways of eating them because sometimes the texture makes me sick after eating so many. I do put a lot in my smoothies. I always like cheap raw foods. I normally spend anywhere between 150 - 180 dollars a week on raw food just to keep up my calories. So if there are anymore cheap raw foods you guys know about, keep em coming
  22. Good post gkleinman. Havent thought of it that way before. Zack: Im not saying that humans lived only off of fruit trees. But before cooking most of the old cultures were more than likely raw. Eating veggies, fruits, plants, and leaves. The studies I have read lack very detailed information, as gkleinman posted, because food knowledge is hard to come by, but Im sure a couple of them ate raw meat.
  23. I read somewhere that even though humans had fire, it was a thousand years or more before they even thought of cooking their food. My belief is the reason they started cooking food is to start putting food under lock and key. Cooking some foods and drying foods extends its life, thus you can make stockpiles of it, lock it up and make it so that the people around have to work for that food. We see it now, processed foods last longer because they are no longer in their natural state, and we work for money to buy food, just to survive. Also, if foods in its natural state(which we ate for thousands of thousands of years before cooked food came around) are bad for us the way nature intended for the food to be, then why would we want to alter that just to make it consumable? I do agree on the fridge part, it does make things easier. But I believe personally you have to study and train on what to do when those things are no longer there. Last thing, Raw Foods are meant to be perishable, they were meant for us to eat according to natures laws at the time, free of money, picking it off trees as we go and live off the land. Drying and cooking foods in mass quantities came around with agriculture, which made us pay for things we usually had for free. That is why I am against cooked food. Yes, I do have to pay for my fruits and veggies now if I dont want to plant them, but I feel eating this way is closer to our human nature. PLUG: Read Ishmael, The Story of B, and My Ishmael, by Daniel Quinn. They are amazing reads and will show you how far we have strayed from our path, thus leading us to a world of pollution, overcrowding, and sooner or later death. ~shrugs~ Thanks for playing devils advocate though, I think you brought up some good points.
  24. Ugh. Arent they the worst? Using these kettlebells instead of typical weight lifting seems to work better with rehabilitation thatn most things I have tried. I have been feeling myy injury during this whole process, but they feel stronger than before.
