  1. Its been a while... So I have questions that hopefully you all can answer. I know race is a touchy subject, so please be civil in your answers and the debates, if any. Here we go: Do people of color want help from whites? I am not refering too everday things, like jobs, money, etc. I am talking about revolution. Preparing for or helping their causes. For example: Dead Prez. Now I know they do not speak for all black men in America, so their ideas arent shared by the majority of Americans in general reguardless of race, but I happen to like their music. I saw M1 of Dead Prez give a speech at a college here, talking about the Black Panther Party, and what people can do in this day and age to create revolution in our lives and communities. The speech he gave was amazing, a very talented speaker. He took questions at the end of the talk, where anyone could stand up and ask questions. And the question was asked: "As a priveleged white man, what can I do to help the black cause in general. Or help people of all races regain freedom." Which, and I cant remember EXACTLY what he said, but it was close enough, M1: "Since our country was built by black hands, and grew when our blood spilled, it is the black mans duty to take the country back. You can help by getting the word out, spreading information our our historical and current plight, but when the shit hits the fan, stay out of the way. We need to free ourselves without the white mans help." Now Im assuming that he also believes this in other black struggles/causes. Like the Move 9, Mumia, etc. Although I want to help in all these causes, as white man, and listening to what M1 said, it sounds like he is saying not to help in these causes, because the black men need to free themselves. Is this what every black revolutionary thinks? I hate to say this, and maybe this is ignorant, but what about my freedom? Freedom from this government that oppresses not just the other races, but the poor, the revolutionaries, dissenters. What about the way I hate how Mumia is locked up, and want to help in any way possible. Do I just stand by the side lines, cause as M1 said, since it was the people of color who built our land and was oppressed during it, it is their responsibility to free it? Confused. Your thoughts? PS: I still do everything mentioned above. I fight for freedom and injustices as I see them, but, albiet probably not in our life time, IF a revolution does happen, I dont want to be hiding in my basement while war against an oppressive government is going on, Id much rather be out there and help.
  2. I just downloaded the free trial of Tabula Rasa. So far its pretty good. I love the whole science fiction setting. Sadly, my laptop over heats. Its a bit annoying, so I have to limit game time a bit. ~shrugs~
  3. WHY would I want to put myself in a situation!? No one (who is of good mental health, and NOT a criminal) wants to put themselves in a situation where thy have to shoot someone, stab someone, or practice self defense. That is why their are things called rape, random violence, muggins, attacks. Its all around the world. I can be walking down the street middle of the day, and get shot just because I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I DID NOT put myself in that situation. I can be sleeping and waking up, with someone walking into my bedroom with a gun ready to shoot me. THIS DOES HAPPEN ALL THE TIME. I didnt put myself in this situation. But I sure as hell want to defend myself from that situation.
  4. Dont know about that. Here we are personifying a gun (guns are not bad, as they have no will of their own to act bad), instead of looking at the people who OWN guns. A gun is a tool, like I stated a few posts ago. It may be easier to go on a killing spree, but if I was well trained with a samurai blade I could probably do the same thing. It may just take a bit more time. That doesnt make the sword bad, it still just makes it a tool. Any tool, even a gardening sheer, in the hands of a BAD person, is still a tool. I went shooting on Saturday. The gun in my hands was no bad, even though it was in my hands. It was doing what it was made to do. Shoot. I was shooting at a target. In this instance, I was not doing anything bad at all. Now, if I turned around and started shooting people, that would not make the gun bad, that would make ME bad. The gun is still doing what its always done, shoot, as a tool. I was shooting at a gun range, so Im sure everyone around me was also strapped. If they saw me about to shoot people, I would have about 20 guns trained on me or shooting at me, if I do start shooting first. If we personify the gun, then I guess the guns that kill me are good? Not the people? Or that the gun was someone defending its owner on its own volalition? Instead of the person defending himself with whatever tool was necessary?
  5. Do the Americans here celebrate the 4th of July, and all that it supposedly means?
  6. How much are Wii's nowadays? Im never gonna buy one, as I dont have a television, but I LOVE Maria Kart haha!
  7. Beautiful! Im writing a science fiction novel now and it has to deal with the planets and things. Thanks for sharing!
  8. Damn that would be a great fight. I love Monson! Kimbo would get wrecked!
  9. Today will be my first day weight lifting since tearing my abs a couple weeks ago. Upper body only. But its making me happy! If anyone knows how to kill your upper body with freeweights and not using a lot of the trunk. Ill be even more happier if you give me advice! (i usually do snatchs, dead lifts, and such to kill myself. cant for a while now )
  10. Its a very polarized argument, and every person who has posted thus has had very valid comments. But I just have to say that, although it is sad when things like veganmama mentioned happen, the USA will never give up their guns. Even if they ban it from the citizenry, the cops and the military, who are some of the most UNSTABLE people I can think of, will still carry firearms. And unlike the citizenry, they can kill and usually get away with it if caught! And, its not just self defense from other people, many gun owners i know, have it for self defense from OUR government. What happens to a populace with no guns when those who are in power are corrupt, and have guns!? Supposed human rights go right out the window, and the citizeny cant do anything about it cause they no longer have firepower to fight back. This is taking it to an extreme. But if guns are banned, then Im sure criminals (and more than likely those people who want defense from their government) will find other ways to do their violence, maybe more destructive and just as easy. For example. Get a gasoline can and fill it up at the pump. Get an empty bottle, get a rag. You know where this is going. Its cheaper than a gun, and can cause a whole hell of a lot more damage. ~shrugs~ If their is a will, their is a way. I hate saying this, but GUNS dont kill people. I agree with what Im Your Man said though, its the people who do. And for some reason the USA has some really messed up people. But that wouldnt change whether or not they had guns or not.
  11. Ive been struggling whether I should post this, because I know this is a serious issue and I dont want to hurt anyones feelings. But I decided to do it anyways, if not for arguments sake, then for a quick laugh: This is just for fun! Im not trying to go after anyone with this!: But I typed in "vegan and gun" in google and found this back on the 3rd page somewhere: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/519561/posts ( in the messages at the bottom it says something about eating vegans vs eating meat eaters at bbq's, which taste better. thats how it was on google) A lot of the stuff I dont agree with, but its a sarcastic point of view that the gun owners have about people taking away their guns ~shrugs~ It made me laugh. THIS IS JUST FOR LAUGHS (and i didnt agree with most of the stuff they put up on here): My favorites: 2. Washington DC's low murder rate of 69 per 100,000 is due to strict gun control, and Indianapolis' high murder rate of 9 per 100,000 is due to the lack of gun control. 5. We must get rid of guns because a deranged lunatic may go on a shooting spree at any time and anyone who would own a gun out of fear of such a lunatic is paranoid. 18. In spite of waiting periods, background checks, fingerprinting, government forms, etc., guns today are too readily available, which is responsible for recent school shootings. In the 1940's, 1950's and 1960's, anyone could buy guns at hardware stores, army surplus stores, gas stations, variety stores, Sears mail order, no waiting, no background check, no fingerprints, no government forms and there were no school shootings. 24. Guns cause violence, which is why there are so many mass killings at gun shows. 27. Most people can't be trusted, so we should have laws against guns, which most people will abide by because they can be trusted. 35. Private citizens don't need a gun for self- protection because the police are there to protect them even though the Supreme Court says the police are not responsible for their protection. Flame away, lol. I expect it
  12. Just to let you know, I have it now. And nothing has changed. I was happy before the gun came into my life, and am happy now. Im still struggling with the thought of actually owning one, but the store said as long as I dont fire it I can return it for a full refund within a month. So that way if I do find it changes my life for the worse, Ill give it up. Michael Moore is known to take the extreme sides on both the arguments. He does that to provide that overwhelming emotion you feel when he shows the two different sides, and relies on it to make his point. Maybe I havent watched his movies in a long time, but I cant remember once where, when talking to someone against what he was going for, that it was someone who was not a huge advocate for what they supported, or just a huge nutcase. Like Bowling For Columbine, and that example you gave. Your making a broad generalization that all gun owners, or american gun owners, act like that. They dont. Most never lived in fear before they bought the gun and were happy, and now that they have one they are still happy and still dont live in fear. Michael Moore just chooses the crazy people to make his point. Its not fact, its just tugging your emotion heart strings for his cause. I used to like him, and agreed with him on many things. But when he told the media three or four years ago that Mumia is guilty, and that he killed the cop, I stopped supporting Moore.
  13. Im gonna ahve to check this out. When I take my calcium supplements it comes with magnesium. So that may be a reason why!?
  14. OMG Im Your Man. What movie is that first picture from!
  15. I see where your coming from, but whether, and if ever, I have to protect myself. Swinging a sword to cut someone or shooting someone would feel the exact same for me. Id be full of fear, dread, worry if i did the right thing, horror, and shock. Maybe for a lot of criminals it would depersonalize it, but for the average joe just trying to get by in the world filled with criminals then I think it would have the same exact affect.
  16. Alright. I had the WORST seasonal allergies. Enough that I would have to take off work for days at a time. This is what I did: First I gave up gluten. It helped, but it was still bad. I then gave up soy. Which helped, but not that much at all. Then I went raw for a year. And they just disappeared. When I went back to eating cooked food again, I didnt have a problem (this was during winter). When spring hit, and I felt my allergies coming on, i ate raw on the weekdays, and only small amounts of cooked WHOLE foods on the weekend. And for the past 3 years ive made it through so far without much suffering at all. Here are some little tricks I have found that has given me a boost to stop allergies also. Apple cider vinegar shots at least 2-3 times a day. Search the net for this amazing all cure. Leave your shows outside the house if you can. Walking them through your house brings in all the dust and pollen that you attached itself to your shoes and brought it in to get all over your couches and such. Ill post more when I can think of the others _
  17. There are a lot of reaons. I love the craftmanship of good weapons, of any kind! (my next purchase is a REAL battle ready katana, $1500 plus! ouch!) Also for self defense. I know its not the be all end all protection, and ANYTHING can happen even if your loaded with weapons in your household. Also for other reasons. A. I believe our government wont last as long as everyone is expecting. Our world for that matter. Better be ready. Peak Oil. Nuclear War. Zombies! (haha). Id much rather already have a gun, and to focus on the other things that matter, than going out and searching for one in a time of crisis.
  18. Go to a chiropractor! As long as it is aback problem, and chiropractor can do wonders for you. It helped me tremoundously. But like all doctors, make sure you like the work the one you chose does. Once your back stops hurting, keep doing dead lifts and squats. I do squats at least twice a week and have yet to develope any saddlebag thighs, and my core stays lean as ever (to my chagrin, im quite skinny).
  19. Your thoughts? Ive been thinking about this heavily for the past few months. I hae been thinking about buying a gun. The only thing that is stopping me right now is not having a place to store it when Im away from my house. So it would be easily stealable. Which isnt a very responsible thing to do. Do any of you own guns? Dont? Why?
