  1. yeah, raw dates are great. i sometimes buy some dried ones too. they're sweet and i add them instead of sugar in my smoothies
  2. Hey this is a great article. thanks for posting it
  3. Without being an expert or something, i don't thing salt is healthy at all... A vegan diet doesnt necessarily means a healthy diet too. I can be a vegan and eat all day french fries, salty snacks, hydrogenated, refined fats and so on... All these can become oxidising toxins in the body. So, of course a vegan could have a detox issue...
  4. Yeah, obviously if i eat lots of raw nuts and olive oil i'll need more exercise to burn all these things. And obviously i'm not doing it suficiently as i have some excess weight. So, either i burn more calories or i reduce the fatty intake
  5. WELL, i'm not sure but if he/she was a spam i don't think they would trouble to post all these things. Anyways, if i overlook the absolute attitude their posts convey, i'd say that they might have a point is some things they say. But, about finding another body building forum where there will be people who Know what are humans made to eat... IT'S HILARIOUS! Most likely, they'll find BB forums where members eat tons of animals (not made by humans )
  6. Raw food section is for those who are interested in a raw diet. People can ask for the experience of other members and that's cool. Noone forces anyone to follow any diet. to say that raw food section harms the forum sounds completely ridiculous. If you think raw is bullshit, then don't do it. But let others to ask what they want from members who have some experience of it. When i signed up in the forum, i did it because it's more about health-nutrition-fitness and unconventional attitudes about nutrition. Plus i'm a vegan of course (for health reasons). I'm not interested in becoming a bodybuilder. all i want is to improve my body becoming fitter and i really like people who have something to say about their experience on a raw diet. You don't like it, you don't do it. Simple as that!
  7. I'm a vegan for health reasons too. And I find what you say here really interesting. However, eating a vegan pizza, might not be ideally healthy, but it's much much more preferable and healthier than a regular pizza full of animal fat. Could you please elaborate on the soy thing as a "nerurotoxic cancer causing poison"? My doctor said that it's a common allergen even when raw, let alone when it's refined. so, better be avoided. But one can find alot of conflicting info on this...
  8. I think too, that eating before go to bed is unhealthy but i guess it depends on the person. When i eat late at night, afterwards i cannot sleep well. i feel a burning in my stomach and when i get up in the morning i feel the last night's food still in me undigested whith i feeling of vomiting or something
  9. I agree with this. to say that eating meat and dairy has contributed to our mental development is also another presumption. IMO, If people were vegans (after the ice age ordeal) now our mental and body health, planet and animals would be in a much better condition.
  10. thanks. i just need to lose some weight (11 pounds/5kilos) and if i eat as much raw as i like i only get fat. I usually eat alot of olive oil (my father has olive trees) and that seems to be my problem. too much calories. But when i eat raw, in order to feel satisfied i need something oily in my food...
  11. Thanks alot for the useful info It's true that before i have become a vegan my lifestyle was very unhealthy. I was obese, smoker, i drunk too much of alcohol and i ate only fried food, meat and huge amounts of dairy. When i got sick in my joints and lower back after unsuccessful drug-"therapies" i met my vegan doctor and went vegan quitting smokin, caffeine, alcohol, carbonated drinks, white sugar, Anything fried etc etc. Now, at the age of 29 i'm a four year vegan and i try to stick to this diet hoping to someday manage to go raw. My doctor said the more raw i eat, the better for me. Thanks again for your advice. it seems that one really needs to have some guts to go raw....
  12. bigbiwii, these are all very well put. I have tried to go raw in July and August but i failed. My old pains from my knee joint and my lower back that i had from the times i was an omni, made their appearance again. I kinda panicked and when i started eating some cooked food again, the pain vanished. I honestly believe that going raw is the best for our body but how long does this transition period last? When these pains fade? Which is the right way to go raw? I feel like i'm eternally stuck in this painful trasition period. My vegan mother tried it too, but she had pains in her stomach and got scared and put off by it...
  13. I understand. i just mentioned you as the first example that popped in my mind. I never said that someone is perfect or the ideal. I'm not a very old member of the forum so i don't know everybody and what they eat. Anyways, i thank all the guys who inspire me with their experiences and knowledge as i try to eat abit healthier every day.
  14. I so much agree with this you just wrote, in what seemed to be a condemnation of anger and violence, "anger will bring anger. violence will also bring more violence." your beliefs seem to be like a moving target. stable as jell-o. do you people who don't care about animal suffering have any steel in you? are your beliefs that malleable? I think you misunderstood me. the fact that i agreed on what Offence74 wrote, doesn't cancel my belief to non violence. If you try not to be so fanatic you'll realise that What offence said, and i agreed on, was that regardless of what violence you may use protesting, things will change only if you persuade people. And this doesn't cancel what i've said earlier. Btw, i've never said that if my life or a friend or my country is threatened, i should be passive. Defending some ideals you have is a good thing. But violence, veangence, anger are different things. All you get back, is the exact same feelings. Nothing changes. What you try to protest to, continuous perpetually.... And please don't speak to me as if speaking to ALL the people who don't care about A/R. The fact that you care about animals is something good. However this doesn't mean that every other person is inferior to you and hasn't any steel in them or their beliefs are malleable....
  15. well, I think too, it's important for everyone to share their experiences 'cause we can all learn from them. Personally, i get more and more inspired by raw vegans who are passionate as you say. If one sees benefit for himself through their diet, it's natural to be passionate about it. I'm passionate about vegan nutrition as it helped me overcome my very very serious health problems i had in the past. At that time, modern science made me only worse. So, now, yes, i do recommend quitting all meat/dairy/fried food to those who suffer from the same illnesses i did. What choices they might make, it's up to them. But at least, this way a different perspective will be heard. It's time to start criticizing ALL things we take for granted especially when modern science, nutrition, and conventional medicine is concerned. If we consider the huge economical interests that hide behind modern science it's only logical to start believing that tuning into our body's real needs, is what will make us live healthy. But to develop this property (to really listen to your body) you first need to be where Flanders is. Otherwise we cannot do it. Only if we try it we'll know. Raw vegans of the forum keep inspiring us, weak n' faint-hearted as we are, for a better life
  16. ok, it's getting interesting First, about the vegan-Lock thing i should say that none of the characters is a vegan or even a vegetarian and everybody eats from the animals that Lock kills. So everybody is equally guilty in that aspect About Sawyer, i should remind you that in one episode while hanging around in the woods with Hugo (Hurley), he's so annoyed by a frog's noise, that when he finally captures it, he squashes it in his hand Concerning the meat eating on the island, they just try to survive. If i were in their place i would only choose fruits and veggies that seem to be in abundance there. but if i were to eat meat or die i would definately choose to eat some meat although i believe it's not natural. My top 5 would be 1. Lock (for his strong and clever character) 2. Jack (also for his altruistic character) 3. Kate (she's hot ) 4.Sayid (interesting character+dark past) 5. Sun (i don't know how to spell it. the Korean Lady. She's so quite, yet emotionally strong and clever).
  17. Do you believe in vitamin b12? Zack, we have discussed this again, and yes i believe that vitamin b12 deficiency is irrelevant to either an omni or a vegan diet. I have said that i believe that one can get the vitamin by a 100% raw vegan diet allowing the body synthesize it in the intestine just like it was meant to be. But that's only MY opinion. For me, being a vegan, didn't hurt me so far, on the contrary i'm cured from all the health problems i had. But i guess time will tell. But it's also possible that the people that do a protest and feel good about themselves, and what they've done, might be so shallow that try to cover it, protesting for animals and expressing their anger for their life. anger will bring anger. violence will also bring more violence.
  18. well, what can i say... i totally dissagree about the cat lady.. Although i'm not concerned about AR, i believe that those who are passionate about animals and still eat them, are hypocrits. Cats are cute but cows arent huh? Anyways, i think that animal eating is unethical just because animals arent in the human food chain. eating them is a blasphemy towards nature's balance. We hurt the environment and ourselves. If we couldn't survive without animals meaning that we were biologically omnivores, i would definately eat animals and i don't thing that the AR proponents would choose to die. At least not all of them who now brag about their protests...
  19. almond milk is the best. and it's very easy to do it yourself. soak, blend, strain, and there you go... If you add cocoa and raw cane sugar you got brilliant chocolate milk
