  1. I just wrapped up my last weekend of class. I've got all my certs now and graduate this Thursday. I'll try to get some pics up.
  2. So close to the end! This weekend wrapped up my hazardous material ops class. Two more weekends of training and then I graduate!

  6. I need to fix the picture links on my first post sometime.. Yesterday was finals for my firefighter I/II class, and I passed each skill! I also completed the final written exam with a 94%, so while I have yet to graduate I'm a firefighter! The classes we have left to take before graduation day (hazmat ops and rit/mayday) are separate certificates.

  10. This morning I participated in the Manassas Stair Climb. I climbed with 10 of my classmates, all of us in bunker pants and coat, and a few of us with packs, carrying a few names out of the 343 fallen firefighters. On our 7th or 8th trip up I carried a high-rise pack. Tough but rewarding day.

  12. Yesterday was more chain saws, more stair climbing and push ups. Lower body workout with the PT today but I forgot my notebook with him.
  13. Got a nice workout in class chopping up a log with an axe until my cylinder ran low. Also did some stair climbing and worked with chainsaws.

  18. Class today was almost 8 hours of lecture - wasn't expecting to get any PT until our class climbed the tower (5 floors) 3 or 4 times. I have 10 days off from school so I plan on training and working hard in the gym this week.
  19. I'm training to become a firefighter. Loss control deals with preventing/minimizing damage to property during and after fire attack. For midterms we were tested on our ability to perform seven different skills; no written test.

  21. Oh definitely! All done with midterms. Will hopefully get back to the gym with my trainer tomorrow and Friday.
  22. More ladder training today. Did some drags last night in class with a 185-lb dummy. I think I'm going to switch up my routine for the next month to focus mostly, if not solely, on some of the functional movements I'm going to have to make at finals time and for the rest of class. I'm thinking.. flipping tires, dragging tires, squats with an airpack on.

I have more intense classes this week so I don't need an injury; I'll talk to my PT about it when I see him.
  24. No gym workout this week as I have been practicing my skills for midterms (tomorrow), which involves plenty of sweating and heavy lifting. I'll definitely be back in the gym sometime next week.
