  1. Solid post Roger, caught all the solid bands i was going to mention to people trying to get into heavier stuff.

    Recent bands I've been jamming:

    Wreck (Tacoma, riffy hardcore)

    Sinking Ships ( Favourite band)

World of Pain (Beatdown, for the heavy days at the gym)

    Backtrack

    Trapped Under Ice

    Paper trail

    Soul Search

I just checked out sinking ships. That's some good stuff. Kinda reminds me of Bane. Are they a Boston band?

  2. I love the late 80s stuff. Then again I also like the early 80s stuff and the 90s stuff. I never really liked the militant people because I'm a former addict myself.

    Youth of Today

    Judge

    Shelter

    Agnostic Front

    War zone

    Black flag

    Minor Threat

    xLooking Forwardx

    Earth Crisis

    Madball

    Blood For Blood

    Ramallah

    Betrayed

  3. I am having some trouble with my form on the dead lift. Should this be more of a leg or a back movement? From what I can gather, the type of dead lift that i was taught is the Romanian Dead Lift. I feel like I use my back more and I can only do about 200 lbs before it really starts to tweak my back. Should you squat more for a dead lift? Any videos or illustrations would help me a lot! Thanks!

  4. I don't know if anyone has posted this before but I was wondering if anyone uses nitric oxide a a supplement. I'm trying to get a better pump when I lift and the dude at gnc keeps trying to talk me into it. He says its vegan and it appears to be when I read the ingredients. It is very expensive. Is it worth it?

  5. I take kyo green from time to time and I think vega has spirulina in it. I don't seem to have any problems with those particular supplements. One time however I bought spirulina from the vitamin shoppe. It smelled like fish food and tasted terrible. I choked it down for 2 days and I got sick as a dog. I had horrible stomach cramps, diarrhea, and vomitting. I will never take straight spirulina again. I also read somewhere that its not regulated very well. They can pretty much scrape it off any pond and sell it as pure. I've heard some of the places it comes from the water is very polluted. I dot know if any of that is true but I do my body's reaction to it.

  6. Awesome man! I'm going to visit England someday. I hear its nice and ive always wanted to. That's awesome that you've never used drugs. I unfortunately did a lot of them in my teen years but that is all behind me now! Happy holidays to you as we'll my friend!

  7. Hey whats up man? My goals are to get strong and look ripped. Also I just want to improve my overall health. I got a blood test a few weeks ago and it seems like the insides are ok! My overall cholesterol was 80. Now I just gotta work on making the outside look like a well oiled machine. Do you live in the midwest too? As far as you wanting to be straight edge just take the advice of Gorilla Biscuits. Start Today!

  8. My name is Roger and I live in the Springfield Illinois area. I am 30 years old and a father of two. I originally got into veganism for ethical reasons but the health benefits have been pretty awesome too. I learned about animal rights and the vegetarian lifestyle from bands like Propaghandi, Youth Of Today, Gorilla Biscuits, and Earth Crisis. I have been straight edge since I was 20 years old. I enjoy running and biking and I recently started doing some weight training. I really want to get my body in check. Although I have seen some improvement in my physique over the last 4 years, I'm still not where I want to be. I hope to meet some cool people on here that can offer tips and advice.

  9. Hello all. Any advice you can offer me would be greatly appreciated. I have been a vegan since late 2008. When I first became a vegan I weighed about 195 lbs. I am 5 foot 7 and at my heaviest I was 206 pounds of pure mush. I became a vegetarian and a vegan shortly afterward. I really got into running and biking. After about 2 years of lots of cardio and eating well I got down to 152 lbs. I felt pretty good until I messed up me knee and had to have surgery on it Feb of 2012. I spent about a month and half recovering and got back on the ball in mid summer. I ran a half marathon and rode a century so I thought that I was doing ok. For some reason my weight started creeping back up in about May of this year. No matter how well I ate, fasted, or exercised, I kept hovering between 163 and 165 pounds. I thought that maybe I wasnt doing enough strength training. For the last 4 weeks I have been following the vegan bodybuilding workout designed by Jeremy Lapro on bodybuilding.com . Last week I decided to up my calorie intake to about 2500/day and Im trying to get my calories at 50% carb 30% protein and 20% fat. I have been eating every 2-3 hours and I have been eating whole foods. I don't do near as much cardio as before. Now I only do about 45 min of cardio a week. For my pre-workout I eat some fruit and I take creatine. For my post workout I have vega one with creatine and l-glutamine. I try to follow Robert Cheeke's advice when it comes to the foods I eat. I do cheat on occasion though. Not much. Maybe a cookie once or twice a week. The issue I am having is my weight is starting to really creep up now and I'm looking chunky. I weighed 168 pounds today. I want to get stronger and build more muscle mass but I'm really afraid of being a fat kid again. Can anyone tell me what I should do? I hear conflicting stories everywhere I turn. Some say I should only eat 1300 calories a day. Other says 3000+. I'm really confused.
