  1. Recently in Australia, some place in the outback if I recall correctly, A woman who did not vaccinate her child was refused by a doctor... I’m not sure what was wrong with her child I presume it got sick and the mum wanted a 2nd opinion.. Anyway the Dr refused to see it! A work colleague of mine is an active member in the child (anti?) vaccination program she said she will not be getting her child vaccinated. I also heard that in Australia when you sign for your baby to be injected with vitamin K at birth (apparently babies don’t have any vitamin K in their system and there for their blood can not clot), you are also allowing them to vaccinate the baby with hep B, but they don’t tell you this. What is even more disturbing is that sometimes if you say no to the vaccination, thy will do it away! Poor little baby, just born and already it's immune system is being toiled with! HOME BIRTH FOR ME! They also don’t mention that Milk is usually responsible for children getting eczema and asthma.. Oh I could argue this all day… I only go and see the doctor if I need a medical certificate, which I usually get along with 3-4 prescription which land in the first bin I see.
  2. mine is www.myspace.com/karoleena47 i'm just starting it up now and i dont have alot on there yet... but please add me! or me add you?? or what ever
  3. For me the stupidest thing would have been when I went to the Dr with My boyfriend at the time. He was vegan… anyway he wanted to gets tests done to check his nutritional status. We were attempting to talk about nutrition and Iron came up when the Dr said ‘ yeah just have some rhubarb it’s full of iron’ that’s when I said ‘ you mean spinach’ It didn’t hit me till after we had left the doctors but imagine if we stared feasting on large sums of rhubarb leaves… death by oxalic acid…. Because of a stupid doctor.
  4. Well our neighbours bought Ex battery hens, they looks like little chewed up freaks on legs and went crazy in the grasses when they were set free to live with the other hens in the fruit orchids.. But they soon adapted and we would hug them! And we use to eat their eggs.. Then some creature from much higher in the food chain come along one night and…. And…
  5. 8 months vegan then 3 years vegetarian then 1 year vegan then 2 years ( i wont say it) then 1 year vegetarian and now 5 months vegan.... yeah i'm all over the place...
  6. hmmmmm i say you all come down to sydney for a holiday... we can make marinated tofu!! oh my gosh i'm so hungry right now!!
  7. I did not mean to start anything. However I did a research assignment on vitamin B 12. And I did not conclude anything but a few sources testified that the B12 found in yeast and spiralina etc. is not real B12 but I similar compound that normal testing standards don't pick up on. ( I have all the info in my report) . ( but maybe this similar compnd works just as well) But that’s not the big deal.. The only thing debatable in my mind is that a woman I knew. Who was a raw foodist for 10 years developed irreversible nerve damage in her legs and will never walk again. However I must point out that there were contributing factors to this. She only ate a few different foods, not nearly as much variety as she should of included, she had given birth 9 times which can take a toll on the body, she had been in a accident that hurt her legs, so HA possibly the main contributing factor to the nerve damage.. however she was extremely b12 deficient when she was taken into hospital because she coudl not move or controll her legs. And needed injections big time and everyone in the hospital was fascinated by this rare condition. .. maybe it wasn't the diet alone. but the end result was a B12 defficiency and permenant verve damage in her legs. I personally have not done enough medical and scientific research to say who is right and who is not. However after reading a few medical journals, books etc and seeing what happened with this woman. it remains a questionable topic for me. And that’s just the way it is for ME..
  8. No sorry I don’t. That’s the only article I found about that study. Maybe there might be more in medical journal and probably not in English. It’s good to hear about their Iron and Calcium being balanced! Calcium depletes Iron and the other way around so they must have the perfect balance... I was thinking tho, what about all the Tolestrate Islanders in the past, who do not have cows and don’t drink milk once they ween of their mothers.. The same goes for the Aboriginals... they didn't have cows.. I wonder how their calcium is.. It would be great to do a PHD on something like this.. And find out the secrets of keeping a balance.
  9. I read this today... nice to finaly read something positive! http://www.european-vegetarian.org/evu/english/news/news981/siberia.html

  11. well for me it would mean traveling by car for 50minutes (one way!) and then pay $17 for a session.. and add the petrol cost tot that and it's 2/3 of my food money gone for the week... i guess it would work out of if i didn't eat...
  12. awwwi dont get any cool vegan sex talk shows in Aus.... i
  13. We have actualy 'cross training' machines at our uni gym. they are alot easier on my shins then the treadmills. I'm not sure if i can build up shin strength on them tho..
  14. I always think it's because i weigh to much and my poor little shins can't handle all my weigh. However i have a friend who is bigger then me and she has no problems with her shins... I walked on the sides of my feet today hehe
  15. I have windsor pilates. i do like it. however sometimes i find it to fast paced, esp if i have not done it in a while and my strength is gone. The pilates classes at the gym use to always kill me. When i did ballet we did alot of pilates based workouts. it's amazing how much strenght and techniques diminishes with just a year of not practising it.
  16. I did gymastics, i went to state ( no big deal i know) I got up to level 4. I was not vegan at the time. I'm going to go back and do it recreationaly next year and i'll be vegan then . this year i cant afford it as i live far far away at uni.
  17. MontanaVegan - thank you for the site, sometimes i just cant stretch that part of my shin, it seems instretchable. Veganpotter - i think i'll have to give the side walks a go... i'll do anything !!
  18. vegetarian diets are good for babies i think... esp. with the whole vitamin B12 debate, but i will not go into it, because thats a touchy subject.
  19. hmmm thanks for that. i'm going to reserch about this, as this is something i have always wondered about.
  20. oh cool i want to read it..! i shal say no more....
  21. is it true .... sorry being dirty, cant help it
  22. I have a weird question. Has anyone experienced and change in his or her skin after commencing a vegan diet, in terms of damage caused by sun exposure? I recently read that raw foodists rarely experience sunburn, and that the skin is more resistant to sun damage. I wonder is this means you becomes more tanned. I live in Australia, land of sun and more sun so this is on the important side of things for moi. Anyone have any input? Please share.
  23. Ok I have a little problem, when I was a few years younger I got right into exercise, tho I had always done competitive gymnastics and then dance. In my mid teens I discovered that I had a flare for long distance running and so running I began, every morning at 6am I was out on the oval running my little heart out. One day at the gym I was silly and did 3 high impact classes in a row and that’s when it happened.. Something in my shin started to hurt, in the next 4 mins it was hurting very badly so I had to stop the class (it was a step class). For the next 2 years I was virtually ‘screwed!’ walking hurt and running hurt even more. I have since then lost a lot of my athletic abilities. I stop doing exercise for a good 2 years; I was still doing something but no training. Lately I have taken up a ‘body combat’ class at the gum, I love it and I desperately want to run, it’s all I want to do but the moment I over do it I get shin splints! (Medial tibial stress syndrome) So I’m thinking what the hell should I do now.. I have been on holidays at my parent’s house for 3 weeks and have not done any major exercise and have not had any problems with my shins. Should I stop doing sport for another 2 weeks and then start up again and just start very slowly. After many failed attempts to ‘jump’ back into shape I think I have come to the conclusion that a crash recovery, just like a crash diet simply wont work and that I’m going to have to go slow and yeah… I don’t know… Any ideas any body every have to overcome such a problem?
