  1. Did you ever think about putting one together again? There are irc networks galore. Vegan Freaks have their own chatroom on the serenia network... it'd be cool to have an IRC room for the vbbf'ers as well.
  2. I am absolutely obsessed with GOLDFRAPP!!! I can't get enough Goldfrapp.... Alison has such a gorgeous voice, and if I ever had a chance to meet her, I'd probably melt into a big puddle of goo. I listen to them on heavy rotation.. watch their live dvd's all the time, and just adore every little thing that they do.
  3. Dude! I love his stuff too! I rock out to that stuff at the gym all the time.... They've got it on constant repeat on XM Radio's BPM station as well... that's what got me hooked... The lyrics to "Baby when the lights go out" leave a little bit to be desired... but I love Guetta's style.
  4. Ok, am I blind, or is there no link to a chatroom anymore? I've searched all over the place and I can't find one at all.... am I missing something, or what?
  5. Yeah, I snack and graze all day long. I eat as often as I can, in small amounts of course... I duno... maybe I just need to keep trying harder, maybe really monitor my intake and find out my ratios and stuff...
  6. Actually, this is with me taking my simple carbs down to nihil, and my fats down quite a bit as well... If I eat salads constantly, I can get my bodyfat down quite a bit, but where's the fun in that? I don't wanna have to have a diet that consists of salad, protein supplement, and water... ya know?
  7. I, too seem to have this problem as well. The more I eat, the more fat I put on. I guess it has something to do with my metabolism, but I can't possibly fathom eating as much volume as most of the people on this forum eat. I'd be a blimp... I do low-intensity cardio for the fat-burning stuff, but inevitably, I seem to wind up either getting slim and toned, or building muscle, and having a lot of fat. You're not alone, dude.
  8. Well... that implies that I'd have to be a member of said forum (which wouldn't have a snowball's chance in hell in happening). Why would i join a forum full of carnist bodybuilders when I've got this one here? It still does make my head swim, though, when I read comments like that.
  9. HAHAHAHA! I've been laugh-fart-laugh-fart-laugh-farting while reading this thread. My dog is okay... she's a little traumatized, and I think she'll be alright... it was the hard blast up against the wall that did her in... She's out of a coma and begging me for pieces of my apple again. A good sign indeed... So.. I guess the basic general consensus as to what to do about this is to try to change my protein powder up if it happens excessively, and see if the gas slows down at all, and if not... just let 'er rip, right? I mean, I certainly don't MIND farting.. I just don't wanna kill every living thing in a 1 mile radius when I DO fart...
  10. What really kills me about that site is the sheer number of people who wrote posts like "I'm eating my second steak while reading this thread" or: "MMMM MEAT... I LOVE MEAT.... MMMM MORE FOR ME" and that sort of nauseating stuff. And people wonder why bodybuilderss get a reputation for cro-magnon tendencies. Ugh.
  11. Dave, being deprived isn't really what I'm concerned about. I understand that it's hard not to get enough protein on a daily basis if you're eating enough calories. On the other hand, if you're trying to build muscle (which I am), is there more of a benefit to combining types of protein in order to get that "synergy" of aminos? Is your body able to re-combine what it needs to create that synergy, or should I be mixing my rice protein with other proteins such as soy and pea?? Should I just continue supplementing with straight brown rice protein and trying to eat other protein sources to round out my day's worth of protein intake?? That's the question that I was trying to ask in the OP. Thanks!
  12. My apologies if this should go in the nutrition section. If a mod feels the need to move it, please do
  13. I apologize in advance if this has already been covered in the past. I tried doing a search, but either I'm incredibly forum-challenged and can't figure out how to do a search properly, or I didn't find any results on my question... so here goes... On here, I've been seeing a lot of information about the amino profiles of certain types of proteins such as brown rice protein vs. soy protein vs. pea protein, etc. Some people have recommended the combining of these proteins to have a better "more complete" amino profile when using protein supplements for post-workout purposes. I'm a bit confused on this because I thought that this whole idea was a bit outdated and was introduced by the "Diet for a Small Planet" book (or I believe some reasonable facsimile of that book name). I understand that the idea was later retracted because it was discovered that the body operates an "amino pool" of sorts, and reconfigures proteins as it needs to. Now I'm seeing the protein combining idea showing up in here, and I'm confused as to whether or not this is just bad info, or if there's really something to this whole protein combination thing after all.. Can anyone clear this up for me? I generally use a combination of proteins (I make a brown rice protein shake for post-workout, and eat soy and nut protein throughout the day for the rest of my intake). Is there a good reason for me to be doing this? Color me confused.... Anyone care to offer up their wisdom in this area? Thanks!!
  14. Ok... So here's the deal. Since I've been supplementing protein (brown rice protein, eaten alongside some soy protein, usually tofu or TVP), I've been getting gas. I'm not talking about just a little tiny slip-out here and there... I'm talking full-on blast-fest. The last time it happened, I blasted my dog who was sitting next to me up against the far wall in the room, and peeled the paint off the walls in the process. My dog is now in a coma, and I think it has to do with my protein shakes. Anyone else have this problem? What the hell do I do about this?
  15. Holy crap! That message board made my head about explode! I literally screamed at my monitor! Heh... I'm gonna do a workout for every stupid comment on that message board!
  16. I wouldn't mind my phisique looking like this guy (the guy facing the camera) http://images.broadwayworld.com/upload/11283/BISH.JPG His name is Tim Bish, he's a friend of mine, and he's also the guy who trained me at the gym. He is a broadway dancer and choreographer (and one hell of a sweet guy too). One day I'll get there
  17. Strict Machine - Goldfrapp Satisfaction - Benny Benassi Yes Sir - Goldfrapp Yikes... two songs by Goldfrapp... I can't help it. I adore that band. They're perfect in every way.
  18. Hahahah! That's fantastic! There was this one guy who went to the gym that I used to be a member of that myself and my housemate (who also worked out there) used to call "Twiggy the Muscle God". He was about 7 feet tall, as thin as a pencil, and totally into himself. He'd show up at the gym, disappear into the locker room, change his clothes, and then re-appear outside of the locker room with his chest all puffed out. He'd check himself out in the mirror CONSTANTLY. He seriously weighed like 2 pounds, and was always puffing his chest out and checking admiring his "gains". It was hilarious to watch. There was this other really creepy guy who went to the same gym who we called "Sunglasses Man" because he used to wear sunglasses to the gym in order to not be seen checking out all the guys who were working out near him. He was seriously like serial-killer creepy. He probably had dead babies stacked in his basement. Ew.
  19. Dude... don't get me started on the weather... Moving to Cancun sounds better by the second. At least the welcomes are warm here!
  20. HehEHeHhehehh... he said "nut butter".
  21. I like using this stuff called GABA Calm by Source Naturals. It's supposed to stimulate GABA production, and helps you get a good night's rest. It's always helped put me in a nice relaxed, mellow state before bed.
  22. Dude... 80's music rules! Like, seriously, who hates Duran Duran? Ok, you probably don't have to answer that one really... cos I'm sure that people do hate them... but I like to pretend that everyone loves them as much as I do.
  23. Well hey, Josh! Yeah, It does sound like we've come from similar places after having read your intro. I'll be looking forward to chatting with you and everyone else here! Rock on! I can't say that I'm straight-edge yet, I still enjoy a good buzz from time to time, but it's something that I definitely limit, and frankly, I enjoy the buzz that I get from going to the gym and running or working out more and more each time I go. I've learned to replace other things that are bad for me with a healthy high now. It feels great! It's a fantastic high to be able to look in the mirror and being able to say, "not bad!!!!". Thanks for the kind words, and thank you everyone else for the warm welcome!
  24. Hmmm... I got the welcome email, but no activation link... something broken perhaps?
  25. Yeah.. I can see it's going to be slightly less freaky already. It seems that everyone is pretty relaxed and easygoing here. I'm all for a little less social theory, academia, and seriousness, and a lot more fun!
