Lean and Green replied to Nefritari's topic in Online Training Journals & Blogs
Yes, more about this gym. It sounds like a blast! -
Keep it up Vlad!!! Your food intake seems like it is going to be nutritionally dense and beneficial to fuel training. Love the attitude as well and excited to keep up with a fellow team member. Let's get this going!! Feel free to pm me, email, whatever. Sometimes it takes me longer than it should to answer but I always do. I'll be on the lookout for your posts though whenever i'm here @ VBBF. This form rocks and it's so awesome to have you here as part our this wonderful community. Rock on brother

Brandon Benenati's January Journal
Lean and Green replied to brandonbenenati's topic in Online Training Journals & Blogs
Hey Brandon, checking in on team VeganProteins, what's good? Stick with it. You said it yourself, there is a forum of people here that are already doing it and so it can be done. Consistency, eh? I'm working on the same thing myself for the long run. You have a fitness background so this should be a walk in the park for you as you budget in resistance training with weights. I look forward to seeing your journal entries and progression. We should post after pics every month or two. Glad to have you on the team buddy. yeaaa.. BUDDY. Your dropbox links didn't allow me to upload or view the pics btw. See ya around. -

Hey babe. Your determination and self discipline has been such an inspiration for me! We can do this Remember when we first met here? Come back! The forum misses you. -
Don't quit. We're all here to support you. Vegan brothers & sisters! Hey ICanDoThis!!!!! Oh I have no intentions on letting setbacks taking over this time around. Mid week report looking good! I have gotten to the gym the last 4 days in a row. Wooo ha! So far I am going during my lunch. Between getting there and back plus changing I get about a solid 30 minutes in and sometimes a touch more. 12-18 sets depending, not too shabby. The idea is to get a consistent routine going and then gradually build on it. Forget all or nothing, my wiser self is striking a balance now so that this will be a permanent, Jack Lalanne lifestyle. No more hitting a goal for the sake of that goal and then falling off the wagon. It's a life long journey and I want to be on my path for good So 4 resistance training workouts, CHECK! Now 2 30min cardio sessions, 1 30min stretching session and 1 1 hour yoga session and we can call it a week. Going to get as close to this mark as possible. Eventually within a month's time or so, I will be going to the gym after work when i'm out early (2-3 times a week) and this will be in addition to the lunch workouts. That will give me the time I need to be sure and get contest ready. It will take time and dedication. Here goes! As for nutrition, I am getting in 25g protein shakes 7 times a day, the last one no later than around 8pm, depending on when I get up. One shake every 2 hours , 175g. Other calories from whole food sources and whatever we have stocked in the pantry. I really REALLY want to build right now BUT.. there is someone's life that I may be able to save.... My future father in law, Wally. He suffered a major heart attack and then some recently. He is on oxygen and 15 meds. I got him to watch Fat Sick and Nearly Dying and he totally relates to the nice guy at the end. I promised him that if he does this, I will do it with him. Problem is that I am already quite thin for my frame and size (170lb) and a juice fast would really shred me down in a way that I don't desire. I love the cleansing aspect but I don't need a cleanse just yet. I will do this to support him though and modify my diet to be all liquids. I will add protein shakes throughout the day and possible Vega EFA oil for omega 3s. We are shopping together for him on friday for some whole foods so he doesn't shock himself and then possibly starting this before the end of the month. I didn't get this chance with my dad and part of the problem was my approach. I was too excited and when about ti the wrong way. It's too lang to change his ways radically. I can't learn from this now and hopefully still help others. Of course, there will be blogging about our journey and he wants to participate. Pics, etc. Let's get inspired people! No time like now. I can always go on a building phase in the spring. Wish us luck!

I completely agree Hsorlando. You find a way to make your passion work vivalasvegans, I should have more backup plans. I fell short of my weekly goal, which is to get 4 pumping iron sessions in, 2 cardio sessions, 1 yoga session, 1 stretching session. The good news though is that I am working towards it and I am going to not get discouraged. I'll get there by the end of the month and then it's ON! Gym session1: 12 sets of Chest Gym session2: 9 sets of lower back Gym session3: 9 sets of shoulders, 6 sets of forearm. All barbell and dumbbell work. Workouts were in between 30min - 1hr. This week I will be training mainly during lunch I will start the weeks with Legs, Upper Back, Bis and Tris. Team VeganProteins will be making some noise this year, stay tuned.

Thanks NicholasWeir! Trying my darndest to enjoy every bit of life John V R.C. yea... BHUDDAY! It was quite the thrill being mentioned in the New York Times today! I can't wait to pick up a copy tomorrow. I had every intention on training during lunchtime. Unfortunately, there has been a lot of demand for my work at the other job. I was so bogged down on my 11hr shift that I skipped out on all 3 15 min breaks and only took a 30min lunch instead of the full hour. It is my choice of course but to me there was no choice. Work needed to be done. Unfortunately, it came at the expense of my workout and I couldn't catch up with it tonight. Came home to do some online work (off to do that now). Blah blah blah. NO EXCUSES! I get out early tomorrow and can train right after work since I have a meeting at lunch and then hit up fri, sat and sun and still meet my training goals. Got 150g+ of protein in today so making sure to ramp up the caloric intake and get that protein in as well. Time to make some moves!

Since my last goal which was accomplished in April 2008, I have been back and forth with getting into a consistent routine and creating a goal / mark to achieve. This needs to stop. There will be a mark in sight and I fortunately VBBF is here to motivate! It will be good fun to work closely with two other forum members together on Team Vegan Proteins. We all have different goals however we will be working together towards achieving them. More to follow on our group progress, etc. Late night for me, all too common. I basically want to catch up and say hey, eh? I did get a workout in today and one on 31st. I will be getting in 4 gym sessions, 1 yoga session and at least 1 cardio session every week. End of week progress / recap and daily updates will be on the way Today was simple and it will be for another month or two. Get moving, get basics down. With the consistency everything else will flow. Deadlifts 225x10 4 sets Good Mornings 115x10 4 sets Hyperextension BWx10 Forearm dumbbell curls 35x10 4 sets Rev Forearm dumbbell curls 20x10 4 sets Shoulders tomorrow.

Mentor Name: Giacomo Marchese I am thrilled to be one of the mentors and will be able to work with 2-4 other forum members. While I have been an example of what is possible in the past, other priorities has consumed my life (unacceptable). Well, it's time to strike a balance again and manage more time to being more active. Here is a pic of my current physique. My frame remains, however, there needs to be some swole arse muscle on it again So as your potential motivator I promise this.. we will motivate each other. VBBF has always been the most inviting place to share my progress and goals. Being inspired, inspiring others, that's what it's all about, a rocking vegan community. I've met my closest friends here, my fiancé and many other things have rooted from here. Time to get back to it. So.. you have a entry form, so should I. Here are my answers and a little extra about me. Lookin forward to doing this together with a cool team of stoked folks http://i44.tinypic.com/snpjpu.jpg Email address: [email protected] Location (City, State, Country): Haverhill, MA 01830 Gender: Male Age: 31 New Year’s Resolution Goal: Get consistent and focused on training goals for the long term Start Date: Today! Desired Achievement Date: Jan 31st 2012 and beyong Past workout History: *Training on/off the last 17 years. Had a clientele as a personal trainer for 3 years (2004-2007). Athletic History: 1/2 Marathons, 100-200mi cycling adventures, most all Racquet sports competitively Bodybuilding Achievements: *(2002) Placed 1st of 3 middleweight competitors in a INBF Bodybuilding show. *(2003) WENT VEGAN, grrrrrrr and RAW > *(2004) Powerlifting accomplishments: 415lb Bench Press, 575lb Squat, 545lb Deadlift *(2009) Competed in 2 bodybuilding shows. *(2010) Still Vegan, no longer 100% Raw, still training on and off.. Biggest Obstacles: Consistency for the long haul (after hitting a goal I consistently fall out for a 6mo-1yr period of time and sometimes a bit longer. I am an extremist with all or none principles. It has led to great things and has also been my untimely downfall. I am currently learning how to balance and still be effective in my pursuit of extreme goals Favorite Foods: I love it all. A healthy balanced vegan diet based on mostly unprocessed and gluten free foods with occasional treats. Gluten and Soy are ok but I don't consume them in excess and try to avoid if possible. Favorite Exercises: The big 3 (Barbell Bench, Squat and Deadlifts). Current training frequency: Sporadic at the moment. Relocated from Oregon to Massachusetts in August, was on point for 6 weeks 4x a week and then I got sick due to the move and a change in environment. Feeling better now and ready to pump some iron!! Who's with me? Any injuries or info your mentor should have: I have a right rotator cuff impingement (gets in the way at times when I don't stretch regularly) , Old minor tear in my right labrum hip capsule (mainly affects flexibility but doesn't really get in the way). Consider working on a tight knit team with VeganProteins.com (Dani & Giacomo)? Right on! Dani will hopefully be putting up a brief bio as well so you can get to know her. You can do your own thing or ask us for training tips, you chose your road to success and community. We want to help facilitate this and in return you will hold us accountable to train regularly and by this you will inspire us as well We are accepting 2-4 others and promise to try our darnedest in January. Alone we are a force and together we will be unstoppable. Let's do this!!!

Stacy I agree with you on the benefits of increased protein intake for training purposes and our macro levels look good too! Dont forget to give your body a break for a couple of months each yr on protein though as it is harder to digest. Like how you became vegan also, cool story . Inserts rock! Looking forward to seeing your journal.
