  1. Hello everyone, introducing myself to the community. I've been lifting weights on and off since I was 12 and loved to eat a lot of meat. Growing up I didn't care much for Cardio so I always had that "stocky" look to me. After finding out some things about the way animals are treated so that we could have meat I decided to go Vegan. This was 2 months ago. I have continued to work out just as hard. I've dropped some pounds but remained just as strong, but at 5'4" I know I'm still considered obese at 205 lbs even though I have some muscle mass. I didn't have much of a transition, I just decided to stop eating meat and the next day I was eating vegetables (Kale, Spinach, Celery, Tomato, all types of Peppers, cabbage, lettuce) and beans/lentils. I was struggling to get any protein (I think less than 30g/day) until I started eating some Tofu and Quinoa which are still my protein staples. I also supplement 50g/day with Pea protein but I'm strongly considering switching to something Spirulina or Hemp based. One question I'm very curious about is am I hurting myself by not eating fruit and getting little fat? I eat a banana every once in a while but on average I get less than 1 serving of fruit any given day. I'm not against the idea of eating fruit, I just prefer the taste and heartiness of vegetables and lentils. I would appreciate any advice from long term vegans, while I'm new I take this very seriously, but I feel my diet may not be balanced somehow.
