  3. mikkei-it was freaking awesome! and we ate waaaaay too much of it!

lobsteriffic-the rice is a mixture of jicima, pine nuts, salt, rice wine vinegar and agave. you pulse it in a food procceser until its "grainy" like rice then dehydrate the whole mess until its sticky.

So i couldnt fall asleep last night to save my life until about 2:30 am. Needless to say, I am exhausted and the gym will not be happening this morning. I have to work all day and then giacomo and i are having a little celebration for joey's (our dachshund) second birthday! The little guy is growing up!!!! I know, we're silly. oh well.

  4. Yep Tashie-this is what i'm doing now! It's really hard, but i'm enjoying it and already feeling better because of it.

well, giacomo and i are gonna have dinner soon it looks like. last night was raw home-made sushi. mmmmmmmmm.....

  5. Just got back from a session at a completely different gym......some women buy shoes-i buy gym memberships...but i digress. It rocked. These new workout i'm doing have a completely different feel to them than i'm used to, which makes me feel both uncomfortable and accomplished. Lighter weights, higher reps, weirder stuff in general (for me anyway) I'm so used to heavy weights, low reps, 90 second rests in between, low intensity cardio that its all very blah now. Now for something COMPLETELY different.

    Legs/Core

    Warmup-

    10 minute elliptical

    high knee walks

    high kick walks

    a weird hamstring strectch walk

    plank walk

    one legged jump squats

(and at about this point i'm already panting)

Workout: There is little rest even in between the supersets.

[bB Squat x15 reps superset with jumping lateral lunges]x2

[DB Split Squatx12/leg superset with a sideways tubing lengex15/leg]x2

[lying Hamstring Curl on Ballx15 superset with DB Single Leg Deadliftx15/leg]x2

[shakle Shufflex20/direction superset with Shackle Monster Walks 20/direction]

[Lying Legg lifts into reverse crunchx12]x2

[oblique crunches with legs in chair and someone pushing against themx12/side]x2

    [regular crunches, legs down]x15

burnout set of crunches, legs up (today was about 50)

After this i did a half hour on this machine thats like a mix between a stairstepper and an elliptical. it was o.k. nothing special.

now i have to go to work for 9 hours and hope i dont snack on EVERYTHING during the three hours before close of pure boredom. i'm bringing a book. hope that helps.

  6. Oh Dani's, sorry I thought you were asking me mikkei !!!

    SWEETIE ! !!!

I hope you didn't go back to LA Fitness lol. JK

I think there was another one you and Giacomo were also checking out before LA Fitness and 24.

I can't remember what it was called though. Could be this one

    http://www.westcoasthealthandfitness.com/

HAHAHAHA! yes it is this one. the one on lombard. its under construction-looks like it will be nice, but right now---not so much. but i like it for whatever reason, so i agree with you aluck. its pretty cool.

Molly-it was GREAT to meet you! You represented on stage! I wish i had gotten to spend more time with you as well. Come visit!

tasha.....i am so jealous of your mangoes!

  7. I had a BLAST in AZ, although like robert said, it was pretty stressful and hectic with a very tight schedule and a large group of people. but the weather was awesome and the company was better. oh and did i mention that i got to rub up on 3 rock hard body builders while applying their million coats of tan? NICE!

I enjoyed watching the show and i am wicked proud of all three of them. but i must admit that i feel a wave of relief that the worst of it (for me) is over. I know their is still TONS of editing to do (sorry Brian ) but life can return to normal(ish)

I started going to the gym thats right up the street from me. I like to get my workouts in early, but until now that hasnt really happened because the closest gym to me was still about 8 miles away....+ 10 hour workdays=procrastinated workouts.

So this new gym is under construction and definately not as nice as 24 hour fitness, but if i actually GO every morning, then it is a million times better, right?

    I'm loving it so far.

  8. YEAH BUDDY!!!

You go girl! Mangos are so good. You know whats a great exercise for your goals? SEX. Can upping your aerobic activity hurt? Sure, but only if you fall or sprain something. So don't do that and you're good to go. Definitely post pics. Be prepared, it's in the 90's here. I can't wait to meet you. Love the new avatar.

YEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHP BUDDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wait a tick people she's home alone right now >:-( Cannot wait to see you tomorrow over here in sunny AZ!

    BOOM! protein everywhere...

    ?

    EVERYWHERE!!!!

...how does my journal always turn dirty....? I didnt even start this one!

And i agree comepletely molly- SEX ALL THE WAY-you hear this giacomo???? get to it slacker!

  9. ok, ok, ok.

it is time to shake things up a bit. they dreary grey portland weather is starting to disappear, and thus should my crap-tastic mood.

i am starting a whole new training routine for the first time in a long time and i'm pretty excited about it. in the past 1-2 years, i have gained a HUGE amount of strength. i get it-i'm strong now. awesome. now i want to lean out. plain and simple. and i'm willing to lose a little muscle to do so. I'm tired (more than tired) of counting macros ad nauseum and walking on a treadmill for hours on end.

    I NEED VARIETY!

I think part of my backslide in fitness was from sheer boredom. Well, I'm going to be doing a new kind of routine that focuses less on super heavy weights (GASP!) and more on conditioning-which i could desperately use. my muscle tone my suffer a bit but my heart'll thank me.

I'll be incorporating plyos, tubing, yoga, running, etc (basically all of this stuff i havent allowed myself to do for quite sometime now) in the hopes of not just achieving this "ideal" physique, but also for my health.

I do not currently have the willpower to eat a strict bodybuilders cutting diet-and maybe some day i will again, but im done trying to kid myself at this moment in time, so i'll up my aerobic activity and see what happens. can't hurt right?

i am going to work more on intuitive eating because i have follwed a clock and a food scale for so long that i dont even know what my body wants anymore-so fuck it. i'm not gonna go crazy or anything and i will still take in a high amount of protein, but goddammit if i want a mango at 9pm--i'm doin it. watch out world-she's gone plum mad.

so wish me luck and i will be posting more frequently and possibly (drum roll please) posting pictures in the near future--ONLY IF PEOPLE PROMISE TO BE NICE!

I'm flying out in less than 24 hours to meet up with mah boys in arizone and fingerpaint their rock-hard bodies with dream tan......can i get a yeah buddy?

oh-its so hard to be me.

  10. i have seen your pictures. you dont need to be getting leaner right now. if you starve yourself-youll lose muscle. if your REALLY hungry-and you'll know if you are-have a small piece of fruit or a little oatmeal and see how you feel. sometimes its just a little bit that keeps it so you can still function. and as for giacomo and robert-i have a feeling (at least giacomo) that when he NEEDS energy to do something (which he has), he will eat something small until he can do it.

as for the dandilion root being expensive-the extract is, yes. I dont know about alabama, but i have a SHITLOAD of free dandilions in my backyard.... boil up some roots and have a tea.

  11. rainra, Lean and Green and I are having the exact same problem currently! oh man, its so ing. and i constantly think i have ants on me now, and i always think theyre in my food....its like a bad trip man! I have also tried all of the things suggested on this forum. LnG's mom suggested Borax outside the house, which we havent tried yet--i dont really know much about it. but ill look into that little sonar box djshrew said....we had a bunch of those at y old vegan restaurant to keep out mice....it didnt work so well though.

I really dont want to get the traps. LnG is leaning towards them though as the problem is outta control. I just hate the idea of having them, even though i know that a handful of them probably die everytime i brush off the countertop... oh well. ill try the other two things and see if it works.

We can get through this! Let me know if you find something that actually works!

  12. i would also like to add that i'm a member of another women's fitness forum (not vegan) and i recently saw a poll there asking whether or not the members had or have an eating disorder. in hundreds of reponses-it looked like this.

    yes, still struggling 28%

    recovered 25%

never have had an eating disorder 31%

no, but i could be considered a "disordered eater" 16%

those figures shocked even me. this is a very healthy healthy site. but inoticed a tendency even before i saw this poll of people to become preocccupied with numb ers of macros, weight, and ridden with guilt if they slipped up, all typical of ed people. anyway-i just thought i'd point out-that this article could have also been titled "the darker side of fitness", or "athletic people too skinny". so yes, it was a jab at vegetarianisn and veganism, albeit an acurate one.
