If you take a look at virtually any activity in which increased strength would be beneficial, you'll notice that for that increased strength to be beneficial, you'd have to be able to take advantage of that strength over an extended period of time...

So How DO We Increase Strength-Endurance?

To increase strength-endurance, you need a program that accomplishes three things: uses heavy (near limit) weight, requires shortening rest periods, and utilizes volume.

    Heavy Weight

This is pretty much a "no brainer." If you want to get strong, you're going to have to lift heavy. Cycling is good, and will be needed for proper muscular recovery, but you have to get to the point that you're lifting as heavy as possible.

    Shortened Rest Periods

The idea behind training to increase strength-endurance is that you want your body to be able to exert maximum strength when not fully recovered aerobically. You also want to train your body to recover faster. Or, in other words, when you are under maximum strain, you want to recover quicker from that strain. Also, you want to either sustain said strain longer or sustain it multiple times in quick succession.

    Volume

If you're not doing a fair amount of reps overall, you won't be increase any kind of endurance - strength or otherwise. It is doing a large volume of work (coupled with shortened rest periods) that will give you endurance. When that is coupled with heavy weights, then you have strength-endurance. Think of it like an equation:

    Strength-Endurance = Heavy Weights + Short Rest + Volume

  2. Besides, people do grunt, and moan, and curse. It's how loud that matters - if they can't hear you at the front desk, it's not a problem.

But see, it depends on the gym. Overall, Planet Fitness got a pretty bad rating here http://www0.epinions.com/Planet_Fitness

Check this one review with a totally opposite experience to yours

Our guest was doing bicep curls when all of a sudden, a giant, flashing blue alarm right above us sounded - and this thing is INCREDIBELY LOUD. Everyone in the gym stops to stare. The "manager" (who had been eyeballing us the entire time because I could see him in the mirrors) sauntered over to my friend and told him that he had violated the "No Lunk" rule, which is a COMPANY POLICY that states that no one can drop a weight, grunt, or judge. Apparently my friend "grunted" too loud. I was probably 9 feet away from him, while the manager was at least 30 feet away behind a desk with insanely loud hip-hop music blaring in the gym. I could not hear my friend "grunt" at all. I run and lift with this guy all the time and while he may be noisier than me, he in no way is excessively loud. The manager walked away and again, proceeded to watch us like a hawk.

5 minutes later, my friend sounded the alarm again for apparently "grunting" (again, I was 9 feet away and could not hear him - his back was even to the manager who was again behind his desk 30 feet away). This time, the manager walked over and told my friend that if he grunted again, he would be asked to leave and not come back. Apparently that's how Planet Fitness treats their guests and members.

    That is just ridiculous.

  3. Heh, this is pretty funny. But you can't really complain if you join it, cause it's not for bodybuilders and power lifters obviously

Planet Fitness gyms offer a wide variety of cardiovascular machines and selectorized equipment (with weight stacks). The franchise is geared towards attracting the average person wanting to get in better shape, general fitness and not towards body-builders or power lifters.

  4. Okay, so I woke up super early this morning because all night long I was dreaming of, BANANAS! I kept trying to grab one but every time I tried to, they disappeared no matter where I found them. And everyone around me was eating them. Then the second I got my hands on one as I was about to sink my teeth into it, I woke up. I immediately got out of my bed and ran to the counter to grab one and chomp it down..

  5. You're doing the right thing by telling it's allergy rather than telling you're vegan. Otherwise the waiter can tell this to the cooks, if one of them is a redneck or has some prejudices against anything that is uncommon, he may spit in your food or put some animal products in it.

Yeah, I haven't thought about that. Could very well happen.
