  1. How funny, I don't smoke it but know plenty of dealers, and you do but don't. Irony
  2. Aaaaand, if you take algebra as an 8th grader you can start with geometry as a freshman, take AlgII sophomore year, trig/pre-calc Jr year, and Calc sr year, then not have to take math when you get to college (at least not as much, depending on your field.) That's what I did!!!
  3. I've never noticed 'awesome' people to be any more partial to marijuana than anyone else, but what do I know. It's never particularly appealed to me. Except perhaps, in the synthesized form you brought up. That's far more intriguing.
  4. Aaah, ok, obviously not something i'm familiar with. If it's available as prescription of course it's available for fun I imagine then, it's similar to getting stoned? Minus the smoking....I can actually see that being somewhat appealing, smoking anything is a turn off to me.
  5. I would agree it's probably not the healthiest thing I could do.
  6. THC? synthesized? no, that's definitely not OTC. I don't even know how you would get it. I think it's being researched in cancer treatments, but that doesn't seem like something with a wide availability.
  7. this is a completely north american phenomena. Well that's where I am, so.... I had quite a stock pile of Vicodin, among other things, from my knee surgeries and wisdom teeth, that I didn't use when I was actually in pain. I sold a lot of it, and the rest made some long days at work a little more tolerable. Vodka cran + vicodin definitely speeds up a shitty day at work. I wouldn't buy it for that purpose, but if someone has them, they can be pleasant.
  8. I take presciption drugs as necessary, but usually don't see doctors unless it's something that's really not going to fix itself. I occasionally but not often use OTC pain killers. I like to drink. I've been known to take prescription pain killers with the alcohol. I don't know how to smoke anything. True story, the boys have tried to teach me but it just makes my lungs hurt. I'm pretty neutral on other things. Don't really do them, don't really care.
  9. Well......I think you're out of luck I don't have a favorite team really, but I always kind of root for the Seahawks (and Mariners) because they're the closest to a hometeam that we have here in Portland. So, I was happy to see them win yesterday. I watched the whole game Today I was super bummed because I had to work, and I would much rather have watched the Bears/Panthers game with my boy, whose favorite team is the Bears. HOWEVER - since they lost, I'm just as glad to have missed it. He wasn't in too lovely a mood about it! So now that Chicago is out....back to rooting for the Seahawks. Wheeee I love football!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Sooooo I might be seeing a new boy who might be absolutely fabulous aside from the fact that he might not be vegan. BUT - he is at a minimum, both tolerant of my perspective, and curious. He's asked many inquisitive questions and doesn't write me off as crazy, and I think that's a good sign. And, I have offered to cook us a vegan dinner, which brings me to my request for help. What could I make that would be the most impressive and make a non-vegan sit back and go "Wow, vegan food is good!". He, as far as I know, will eat pretty much anything, and says he's willing to try anything. I'm pretty capable in a kitchen so I'm not too intimidated by most recipes. Ideas??? Anyone remember the first vegan meal that made you say "Wow!"?
  11. Nice cover indeed. But I like Take On Me by Reel Big Fish better. RBF finished with that one It was lovely!
  12. I have read all the books, all when I was much younger. I didn''t pick up on the Christian theme until I was so informed. It's subtle enough to be innocuous, in my opinion. I know they wore fur coats in the books, but I was still saddened to see it brought to life. You'd think somewhere between the book and the movie someone would realize what bs it is to have the animals save the lives of fur wearing bastards. Guess I'm just an optimist.
  13. No shit. See. that's what I don't understand. My parents asked me that when I first left for school: "Oh, aren't you going to give up your cats?" Hell no! I took them in, and I will care for them till the day I die, nomatter the inconvenience to me. It's not their fault someone ditched them once upon a time. and I will love them forever.
  14. i also have not seen it yet, but fully intend to. With such hotties in it, how could I not? I'll let you know what I think after I see it
  15. Whilst increasing your fruit consumption would be an ever better resolution. As would getting to bed whilst it's still dark outside. Getting to bed earlier should also be one of my resolutions. Won't happen though............... No doubt. I'd like to see 5am as the UP time, not the go to bed time. I'm working on it, but then again it's 2:20am now and i'm nowhere near bed stil. Dammit, this may be the hardest thing to achieve.
  16. Would you be familiar with aubergines then Nat? you're refering to celeriac rather than celery root there i would imagine. Perhaps, but I also know it as celery root, and enjoy it as such. One bonus of coming home to visit the 'rents is that they have the ability to procure such wide variety of vegetables. Truly delicious, all the things they provide for me.
  17. To be fair, my understanding was that she's referring to blood oranges specifically.......I don't think those have been around quite as long.
  18. I have heard of it from all over the place, but I'm not familiar with the actual program. What's it like?
  19. Mmmm yes. Far preferable to regular ole navel if you ask me. A little bit spendy around here though. I always steal them from my parents when they buy them
  20. omg, omg, omg. Just got back from Goldfinger show. Euphoric. 1st opening band was alright. Next up - Zebrahead. It's been years, they kicked ass. Sooooo hot..... then GOLDFINGER. Effin A. We danced, we jumped, we moshed, he promoted veganism, even sang one of my favorites - FTN You can guess what the F stands for, the TN is Ted Nugent. Chorus - "He's a dick!" Finished off with the best cover ever - 99 Red Balloons. Played bunches of favorites - Question, Superman, Counting the Days. Seriously. So great. Stuck around for Reel Big Fish - meh. Take 'em or leave em. Put on a good show, but I spent all my energy on Goldfinger. Coincedently - was there with old friends, and ran into even more old friends at the show. Good good times. SOOOOOO HAPPPPPPPYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. You're quoting me from the domestication post, so I should clarify. I'm not personally against domestication, per se. In that post I was merely trying to convey that while I understand why one might be against it, being against it does nothing to cure the problems it has created (eg, an overabundance of pets without homes, etc). To further clarify where I'm coming from (on most things AR related) - my blanket statement is: I'm against cruelty. Puppy mills are cruel, pet stores are cruel, commercial farming is cruel, docking tails and ears and whatnot is cruel.....I am against all those things. Well cared for dogs breed carefully (not inbred).....I'm not particularly against it. Having a pedigree isn't of particular value to me, so it's not something I pursue. But, I'm disinclined to agree that every dog from a breeder prevents one from being adopted from a shelter. I don't think the type to buy from breeders are likely to be the same sort that would go to a shelter. I could be wrong, but that's my perception.
  22. I've tried to read this whole thread, though I'll admit some parts I skimmed less thoroughly. I'm not against RESPONSIBLE pet breeding. I am absolutely against puppy mills and the pet stores that sell the animals they produce. Like JZA was saying, people will go to great lengths to get a dog they desire. My parents own two purebred Tibetan Spaniels, both former show dogs, both having won shows, and far more papers than any dog needs to document their lineage - and it cost them at least a grand per puppy as I recall. May have been more. I own two rescue cats. Someday I'm going to own a rescue Chihuahua. I know it's going to be a Chihuahua because that's the type of dog I want, and I know it's going to be a rescue one because saving it is more important to me than its papers. But, in defense of the breeders of my parent's dogs, they are NOT jerks. Their dogs are meticulously cared for. I have been to the breeders home on several occasions. The dogs have the most luxurious and spacious set up I've ever seen. Also, my parents had to sign a contract that if they are ever unable to keep the dogs, they will be returned only to the breeder and no one else. They had to have the dogs spayed/neutered to insure they would not breed and try to profit from them. And, when my parents go out of town, they have the dogs 'dog-sat' at the breeders, and nowhere else. My sister went through similar things with her dog, which she went all the way to Texas to get because that was the closest breeder. Rescue pets are more than good enough for me - but legitimate breeders aren't evil. It's the a-holes that run puppy mills for pure profit that are evil.
  23. 1) definitely going to rock the 4.0 gpa this term 2) going to do so by going to ALL my classes (I've never made it through a term without skipping some) 3) getting back to the gym 5 days a week 4)working absolutely positively NO more than 25 hours a week during school (preferably 20 or less) 5) learn to run, ski, and snowboard 6) do so by rehabilitating my knee to the point it is able to do such activities 7) Pay off all credit card debt. Visit Jessica (best friend in the whoooooole world, haven't seen her since I flew her out to visit on New Years 04) Numbers 5 and 6 are iffy. I'm genuinely concerned that my 'bad' knee will never let me do these activities without prohibitive amounts of pain. However, I'm willing to put the work in to fix it, and I may finally go see a sports medicine specialist, like my mom has been telling me to do forever. Also, may look into a chiropractor to see if anything might be able to be done about the little issue I have with my sciatic nerve! It's a long list, but I'm sticking to it!!!!
