Good call on the edit, endcruelty. Thanks

Why only "probably"? Because I'm a commitment-phobe I don't foresee a reason why I wouldn't be there...hence, I'll probably be there

Does anyone else get sick when stressed?
veggymeggy replied to veggymeggy's topic in General Discussion
Peppermint tea....good thought! I have some, that does tend to make me feel less queasy. I wish Jay, that the world would change...but in lieu of that, I'm just going to have to cope...ugh. I think it will be worth it, in the end...it better be! I think I'm going to go for a walk despite the rain. Rain is actually somewhat calming I think. Kind of funny, I left for class this morning actually looking forward to it as a stress reliever, something to take my mind off all the other stuff...and I got there, and class was cancelled! Go figure, the one time I really was looking forward to sitting in lecture for an hour and a half! (It's not really a fun class ) -
Health Food Stores and Vegan Restaurants in PDX
veggymeggy replied to robert's topic in General Discussion
I <3 Veganopolis. Btw, Robert- you act as though this whole Portland thing is a new discovery.... hasn't everyone (including me) been telling you how much better Portland is for ages? There's a reason I'm in Corvallis as little as possible! -
I'm in school through August 18th, so I won't be up during the week. The Saturday and Sunday I probably will.

I am in an absolute panic over money and school right now...can't sleep, can't eat....and I've been sick to my stomach for days. Does this happen to anyone else? I don't even know what to do to feel better. I'm usually pretty good at relaxing when I'm uptight....but I'm absolutely against a wall right now, and waiting on things to come through that are totally out of my hands. In the meantime, I feel like crap! Suggestions? Am I really that psychotic or does this happen to other people?

I love Julia Stiles, I think she's just gorgeous, and she's well educated. And one of the absolute coolest women I know is a blatant, self-proclaiming dyke. It's really not a fitting descriptor. Instead of attacking her sexuality, it'd really make a lot more sense to criticize her line of thought....which I agree, is unfortunate.

Steer manure for my garden?? Is this NON vegan?
veggymeggy replied to jjaj2022's topic in General Discussion
He brought up a good point though...a lot of veggies in the store probably were fertilized with manure....where do you draw the line? Or do you grow all your own? -
Same, same, same. Except I'm not sure i'm even recovering. I'm more than happy to let my cats eat all the spiders they want...though once I watched Cava eat a big one, then puke it back up on the kitchen floor just a few minutes later. It was awful...whole spider legs were still quite visible. Must have been poisonous or something.

Oh man, what I wouldn't give to have a car that got gas mileage like that. I drive a '94 Jetta, and freeway I get about 30mpg, which is pretty good considering the car is 12 years old now. The mini gets at least that good for city driving. It's going to be at least a couple more years before I can afford a new car, but when I can, I'm getting the most gas efficient one on the market no matter how ugly it is!!!

I'm with compash on that one. Lovely and all....yet, makes me a little queasy. I have no desire to see one up close!
-
I agree. As well as burning up a lot of gas. Sorry, but I have no sympathy for someone who gets a ticket for speeding, and in fact I wish more people would! Even at high speeds the mini gets incredible gas mileage. It's a MINI, not a dodge viper or something. 30+mpg, not 8. I deserved a speeding ticket...but I think most occasions in which people are ticketed are unwarranted. Our 'tolerances' are very low...I know someone who got a ticket for going 3mph over the limit. That's bullshit. And Oregon still has the 55mph limit, I think we're one of the only states that does.

I'm very sorry to hear that. I know a handful of people who've been killed in similar situations. (I was sober.)

I finally switched my sleeping habits around. For awhile there I NEVER slept at night, I'd party all weekend then sleep during the week to make up for it. Not really sure how I switched...just kept forcing myself to lay in bed and not do stuff at night, and force myself out of bed in the morning even if I hadn't slept.

Vegans in the Shooting sports
veggymeggy replied to loveliberate's topic in General Fitness/Other Sports
The only place I've been shooting is A Place to Shoot in Delta Park. The Sig .45 is my favorite, my boy also has a Dan Wesson .45... that's fun too. Aside from that, the CZ 9mm is the most accurate gun I've ever fired, and I've shot .22 handguns also. The only rifle I've ever shot was a .17...I really don't know anything about rifles. -
I should have been in Montana! I think it's South Dakota that doesn't even fine for speeding...no fair I should probalby reiterate that I KNOW there's really no excuse for going that fast...it's not safe. Fortunately we were mostly just endangering ourselves since it was so deserted, but we'd have died if I lost control for any reason!

Vegans in the Shooting sports
veggymeggy replied to loveliberate's topic in General Fitness/Other Sports
I was raised with guns in our household (my mom didn't approve, but my dad has always been a "gun guy")...anyway so he taught me basic gun safety from a very young age, how to load and unload a gun, and how to shoot...I've always enjoyed shooting handguns. I like to go to the range and shoot paper targets, just in appreciation for the skill. And, it is for some reason, just FUN to shoot off a gun. I've NEVER shot at a live target, and never would, but I've shot the hell out of some paper! A .45 is my favorite... -
I double checked the law...over 100mph is a mandatory 30-90 day suspension of my license. Whoops. ...and up until now, I had a perfect record, no tickets or accidents! You're right...it's definitely the getting caught that's expensive. Eh, won't lie. I can be kind of an idiot sometimes!

I know! Dancing wouldn't have gotten me in trouble! The mini belongs to the boy, but I claim partial custody He was thoroughly intoxicated, which is why I was driving. I'm not quite sure how I'm going to pay it! I can't afford to send it in all at once so I'll be showing up in the N. Marion Justice Court, whoohoo.

So just thought I'd share...got a ticket for going 102 in a 55 last night. That's going to cost me $1,105.00 and possibly a suspended license. But hey, I passed the 4 field sobriety tests that were administered by 2 different officers....and Officer M. took pity on my and dropped the reckless driving charge, which would have kicked the ticket into the multiple thousands....And definitely glad I wasn't arrested! I thought they had to at that speed! Anyways...I can't even explain how much I love driving the mini (Mini Cooper S, that's the super charged one ) I wasn't even stressing it at 102, in fact I don't think I'd even shifted into 6th gear yet. Glad I didn't speed up anymore! And safety sidenote...this was at 1am on a straight stretch of back roads highway, with no other traffic in sight....(that might be why he dropped the reckless actually) MORAL OF THE STORY: Speeding is FUN but EXPENSIVE.

I'll post my results, but I have to say that was a pretty bullshit quiz. Some of those questions were downright stupid and really not representative of reality at all. I like your reasoning, that's awesome. I hope it works and you lighten up!

I think a lot of people on here probably have tattoos, and I am ALWAYS curious to see other people's ink. I personally have two (one of which is already posted twice in other threads, but whatever ) Anyway, these are mine, and I would love to see what everyone else has! http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a209/veggymeggy/newtat.jpg and http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a209/veggymeggy/100_0077.jpg
