I just got new ink last thursday! All I have is a crappy cell phone picture right now, but I uploaded that to photobucket, and post the link, and oila! My new tat:

My best friend and I have been best friends since the 2nd grade....about 16 years now. After all that time and as many crazy things and hardships as we've been through, as well as maintaining the strength of our friendship across 1500 miles since she moved away when we were 14...we got identical tattoos. Inside of the left wrist. Forever friends
Now where's yours?

That was perfect...I just had a horrible day, and came across this post....and am now feeling much better! Some of those had me cracking up!

You Are 80% Evil
You are very evil. And you're too evil to care.
Those who love you probably also fear you. A lot.Duh. I didn't need a test to tell me that

I don't know why the html isn't working. Oh well. It's right in line with what I'm on track to do though, yay
Your Career Type: Social
You are helpful, friendly, and trustworthy.
Your talents lie in teaching, nursing, giving information, and solving social problems.
You would make an excellent:
Counselor - Dental Hygienist - Librarian
Nurse - Parole Officer - Personal Trainer
Physical Therapist - Social Worker - Teacher
The worst career options for your are realistic careers, like truck driver or farmer. -
Someone out there must agree with me....No?
Actually, Dave, I'm with you. Perhaps not in such harsh words, but it is a decidedly boy band pic.
Btw - hi.

That article was written in 1998....

It's very unlikely that you have a B12 deficiency, unless it is a primary deficiency, as Liz alluded to. B12 is a nutrient the body stores for a long time, so it generally takes years for a deficiency to develop. If you ate a standard omni diet previous to being vegan for a year, and additionally only recently stopped consuming supplemented food, dietary deficiency is highly unlikely to be the cause of your symptoms.
A primary deficiency however would mean your body is in someway hindered in its usage of B12, which is possible, and is the most common cause of nutritional deficiency of most nutrients (within the US).

I used to listen to underground music, Dead Milkman anyone?
definitely!

I know that drinking super-green or any other dried greens powder is a heckuvalot better than drinking a Soda or a Beer, but I wonder how much health benefit is really there, given that the powder is has gone through so much processing and re-processing in the name of "convenience."
That's what I wonder too.

Just don't take anything that makes your eyes get as big as the guy in the bottom pic- that's trouble!
-Joel
Or a whole hell of a lot of fun....

I dunno dude. I'm no judge but you look like you deserved 3rd not 4th to me. The 3rd place guy has no legs at all, and yours are huge. Your upper body isn't that big, but you know that....like I said, I dunno, but I'm not convinced 4th place was fair.

I only looked at the first couple links, but my initial impression is that they are much more anti-abortion articles than genuine "news". Granted I didn't read thoroughly, but that's the impression I got.

i find basketball sooooooooooooo boring...... i just cant sit through an entire game too slow for me.... i mean theres 1 shot they get the ball and casually walk across the court take a shot and same thing over and over to each his own
I'm with you! That's exactly how I feel about basketball. It's the one "major" sport I just don't get!

Agreeing with Aaron. Especially in the summer, if it's near an open window I imagine there'll be enough bugs around? I don't really know how much of an 'appetite' plants have, but I imagine in can't be that much?

I went off birth control about the same time as vegan....so I'm not sure which caused it, but they are way shorter than they used to be! On the flip side, I NEVER used to get cramps, and I do sometimes now - and that sucks.

I'm curious about the "tool use," as I've never heard of this sort of thing. From fish, I mean. I'm familiar with the concept of tool use.

Hemp will grow in popularity! The only thing standing in it's way is the drug issue (you can hide non-industry hemp with the industry one). Easiest way would be to legalise cannabis and we would get rid of this question once and for all.
That would make sense, wouldn't it? Don't see it ever happenng though, at least not in the US. Our drug laws/policies are just plain stupid. When something as useful as HEMP is disallowed....

VM: I couldnt break that post to start a new thread - have no clue how to do it. SO if you could just please respond in this thread, that will be fine. I dont care if its off topic or if constitutes a 'hijacking.'
This is the post I am talking about:
____________________________________________________________
I absolutely think the life of a human is more important than that of a cow/sheep/pig.So let me get this straight, you think that just by virtue of being a Homo Sapien, you are more important/superior to a non-human animal? That your species makes you automatically more important than a non human animal?
**hmm maybe I should break this post off as this is a whole other debate***
Sorry for the slow response, I went camping for the weekend and was blissfully away from all forms of technology until today...
Anyway. I realize this is a drastically different position than yours, but YES, what I am saying is that by virtue of being a Homo Sapien, I am more important than a non-human animal. I think "specieism" is a load of crap. NOW, before you go off in a rage, understand that does not put me in oppostion to animal rights or animal welfare. I think as the most developed species on the planet we have an obligation to care for our world. I don't believe we have a right to harm those who cannot protect themselves from our greed, technology, etc. In only the most dire of circumstances would I be willing to kill for my own survival, and I doubt that such circumstances (whatever they would be) will ever arrive.
Not sure what else to say...didn't read through the whole post so I can't quite remember what the original context of my statement was. I'll go back and re-read, and edit if need be.

Too lazy to do quotes, but...
CG, about the prison meals, I'm sure he's served a tray containing a meat, a veg, etc..unless I'm completely misunderstanding, they're not withholding everything EXCEPT for meat from him...so if he's choosing not to eat what IS acceptable among the food that's offered, that's his deal. Perhaps I'm missing something but it certainly seems he should be able to pick through what he's offered to get enough edible food to at least live. I recall being hospitalized once and having requested a vegetarian meal, they mistakenly brought me pot roast or something like that. But on that tray there was still a vegetable side dish, a roll, and some fruit cocktail or something like that....more than enough to eat while sidestepping the meat. (They actually brought me a new dinner, but my point is, if they'd refused, I wouldn't have gone hungry).
Oh, and again with the whole "if I were starving"....I don't see cow as any more appetizing than cat, but if I were facing death, sustenance is sustenance. As I said before, who knows what I'd do, but death would not be my first choice.
-
Let's use a different example. Say you are in captivity, and the captor refuses you food, even though they have it. Your only choice is to kill another prisoner, and eat them. Is that OK? Because morally it is identical. You eat animal products, you murder. You eat a human, you murder. I fail to see the difference.....unless you feel that the life of a human is somewhat more important than that of a cow/sheep/pig.....
Jonathan
I absolutely think the life of a human is more important than that of a cow/sheep/pig.
That doesn't mean I think it's ok to eat them or abuse them, but, hierarchically speaking, yeah, humans are "more important". And before you jump all over me, you should know that less than a year and a half ago I damn near lost my own life by returning to a burning house to save that of a dog. I just did it after I pulled its owners out.
Anyway, that's of little relevance. If I were starving, I really don't know what I'd be capable of. Actually, to reference my previous statement, I never knew I was capable of running into a burning house until one was presented in front of me. So who knows, maybe I'd be capable of murder; I doubt I'll ever have to find out.
I find it hard to imagine that ALL the prison food is tainted with animals. Are prison meals solely a slab of meat? I imagine they much more likely consist of several ounces of meat, a vegetable portion, bread, etc. I really just don't see how he can't find enough food to survive.

Mmm so good. Haven't been there in ages, but I always get a burrito bowl (no tortilla) with rice, black beans, romaine lettuce, sauteed vegetables (peppers and onions), their hottest salsa (which is actually pretty hot, just how I like it!) and the corn salsa. Mmm, mmm, mmm. And it's HUGE!

Will, I am shocked that you could say that, because of reasons that I explained in my response to Sinister above. There is a bigger picture here, one of basic human rights, and that is what this man is fighting for.
He probably sees it as fighting for human rights, and you and a few others see it that way. But I think 99% of the people in the world are just going to see it as some guy being difficult to deal with. If I were in his situation I would have just bought the vegan food they had available, been grateful for that, and saved my energy for bigger battles
Agreed. And a dead vegan isn't very useful for fighting anything.

I just posted this in another thread, but what the heck. It's not romantic love, but my new ink is symbolic of the strength of friendship. I met my best friend Jessica in the second grade, when we were 7 years old. We went to grade school together, migrating in and out of different social groups and yet maintaining a bond...in 5th grade her dad died suddenly, and as one of the few friends that knew him, this really cemented us together. A few years after that her mom took a job in Fargo, ND and they moved away (from Portland, OR - it's a long way!) From 8th grade through high school we only saw each other every few years, but kept in touch via phone and instant message on daily basis. When we graduated high school she came back out here to attend OSU with me, and we were roommates for awhile....which was awesome. Unfortunately, out of state tuition was more than she could afford, and she had to go back after 2 terms. Next May she'll graduate from UND (University of North Dakota) and I'll graduate from OSU. It's been 16 years so far, and we've been through far more than I could ever type on this forum....and now we have matching tattoos as a reminder of the one person who is ALWAYS there for me. Boys come and go, but true friends are forever.
