  1. The whole northwest is home of the microbrews. Oh man, we have the BEST beers here. There's no excuse to ever crack open a regular ole domestic. (Unless you're a broke college student, which, well.....I am ) I can't wait till the Brewer's fest again....every last weekend of July, at Waterfront Park.....sooo fun. But I digress.....yes, our microbrew culture does lend itself to brewing one's own beer, which in my experience, is in fact also very popular around here. As far as Corvallis being voted a great town to live in, or whatever.....I have NO idea how that's possible. But that's just me! Robert is far more partial to it because it's his home town, but I can't stand it! I never spend more than 5 days in a row here, and I can't even imagine moving here if not enrolled in the university.
  2. JZA was banned. And I agree....Violet seems to have left voluntarily, time to put it to rest isn't it? Let's not let her keep us arguing amongst ourselve when she's not even here anymore.
  3. You are the second person I know to have moved to corvalis! What is it about that town? Well if you are up to painting the town red one night...let me know...I don't get out nearly enough as I should! Well, Corvallis is only a temporary residence for me, I'm here ONLY for the university...it's not really my type of town I actually left Vegas for California, then up to Oregon. Still have family in Vegas though. And to the other....hehe, I get out far MORE than I should! But hopefully I'll be hitting Vegas with friends in the not drastically distant future. We'll see....if we make it, I'd extend an invite to come out of course. The more the merrier!
  4. Welcome! I was actually born in Vegas, but I haven't been back in years. Maybe soon, but probably not to work out Anyway, glad to have you here!
  5. I don't know of anything specific that one might hold against Coke, but I believe the general point is supporting small, independent businesses vs. huge corporations that practically rule the world.
  6. That doesn't apply to me and Susan's. My mom is a Susan, and when she was my age she had the exact same dimensions as Raquelle Welch. (sp?) Talk about a lot to live up to, my mom was breath-taking. I've only known a few other Susan's, but they haven't been overweight either. Bertha....I've never even met a Bertha, let alone more than one to form a generalization! Not a common name, is it???
  7. FREE BEEF drives me crazy....every year.....it's just so gross! Anyway....McD's is getting sued again. Haha.
  8. Yes, every Megan I have ever met had a very bubbly personality! Hehe, just don't call me perky. I get really tired of that! I imagine that part of it must be some sort of subconscious connection we make between people....I'm sure there are Megan's in the world that are quite surly, or Matt's that are completely mellow.....but I've yet to meet them. The weird thing of this vein in my life: the ex-girlfriend of the guy I'm currently seeing is a 6 foot brunette named Megan....I'm a 6 foot brunette named Megan....and my impression of her is she's pretty darn 'bubbly' too! (Although I think our similiarities end there)
  9. I've had this conversation with others before; it seems to be true! I was told by one person that every Megan he's ever met always had very bubbly, energetic personalities, and that's a trend I also fulfill. I'd even have to agree with the Matt's and competitiveness, that's been true in my life too. I can think of a couple negative ones too. Weird.
  10. If I ever have enough disposable income to do this - which I sincerely hope I do!- I will, without a doubt. Societal standards aside, smooth skin is just sooooo much nicer than hairy.
  11. Mmm pesto, that is one I miss a lot. We always had fresh basil growing in the backyard, and my mom would make up fresh pesto all summer.....soooo good. I will have to try a vegan version!
  12. The kind that have no patience for your refusal to listen to reason. And just for fun: Fuck: n. 1.An act of sexual intercourse. 2.A partner in sexual intercourse. 3.A despised person. 4.Used as an intensive: What the fuck did you do that for? To clarify, I was using #4. (http://www.dictionary.com)
  13. AllI'veEverTouched, VeganEssentials, CG, everyone - you guys are all saints for you patience. I haven't the faintest idea why you continue to correspond with Violet, but nonetheless, I'm unendingly impressed by your eloquent attempts to reason with her. It's hard to piss me off - really, it is - but when I read her posts, I don't respond because I just want to tell her to shut the fuck up. So - Kudos to all of you guys who can respond politely!!!!
  14. I went camping on the Oregon coast in January a couple years back (near Newport). Just one night, it was a completely spontaneous thing....couple of friends drove down to Corvallis from Portland, and we, plus another couple college buddies, decided that being January was no reason not to go camping! It wasn't that cold....a little windy but not bad....but it did end up raining all night (go figure ) Overall......I'd do it again anytime But, I'm weird like that. Nothing really deters me once I have an idea in my head
  15. Robert, why oh why did you post this? Now I just want to go GET all of thsoe animals!!!!!
  16. and after that other glass you are hungry and eat for four people EXACTLY.
  17. oh but darling its so true! thanks for the welcome I, for one, LOVE the name! But - maybe that's because the same can be said for me so often Regardless - welcome!
  18. I don't care one way or another. It makes life a lot easier to just let other people eat what they want to eat.
  19. Glad you're in school, good luck Kourtney! Where are you taking classes? Are you at OSU with me??
  20. I am SO upset....I just found out I have to work ALLLLLLL day on Sunday so this is the first Superbowl I'll have missed in years. It was gonna be so fun toooo........... Hope everyone else gets to enjoy my favorite day of the year!!!!
  21. Smart move. I don't share this experience from a business perspective, but I can't count how much drama in my personal life can be chalked up to this. Just happened again, and bad this time......I never realize how my mood has changed until it's too late, and then I always have the realization of...."Ooooh, that was dumb, should have waited a few days and I probably would have handled it a lot better!" Anyway - I'm a compulsive list maker, but not a compulsive list follower
  22. You've seen me stress Robert...I don't deal well! I stress really easily, and when I do I get completely fixated and really struggle to relax.....for me, none of the "calming" sorts of things work, ie, meditation, music, soft sounds and down time.....I get tons of nervous stress energy and I have to get it OUT. SO - I have a few different ways of dealing, some of which are healthy and some of which are absolutely not. In the absolutely not category, and which doesn't work for you Robert is drinking and related activities. Doesn't solve anything, sometimes makes it worse, but the mental break is great! In the slightly healthier category....I do ridiculous amounts of cardio. I will literally run until I fall down. Sometimes I combine them....last time things got really bad for me, my lifestyle got almost bizarre. Up at dawn, gym for a few hours, work all day, gym for another hour or two, out to the bars, grab 4 hours of sleep or so, and back to the gym.....yikes. Knowing you though....I think you should try some sort of meditation or scheduled down time sort of thing....you don't get hyped up the way I do when you're stressed out, so those things would probably work better for you, imo.
  23. Have you ever had the experience of having a relationship in which you were never attracted to the other person? I understand not requiring an initial physical attraction, because I've experienced that. I've dated guys that I did not initially notice physically, but as I got to know them, they became physically attractive. There has actually been research done proving this phenomenon. So, I wonder if it is even possible to NEVER get to that point? If you are in a relationship with someone and love them for all non-physical reasons, is it requisite that the physical attraction develop? I think it is. Hence the question, have you (or anyone) ever had a relationship where that didn't happen? I think if the physical attraction had never developed and it was just a pesonality thing with some of my exes, they would have stayed just friends. Just musing.
  24. I will admit I have skimmed parts of the thread, so I might be missing something.... but I am curious, particularly to you Raven, what the "other" things that Daniel might be excluding in his reasoning are? Like, if breast augmentation doesn't come from societal pressure to conform to a sexual ideal, where does it come from? If the desire to have implants isn't based on that, what is it based on? I'm assuming that we're talking about purely cosmetic surgery and not reconstructive of course. I wouldn't hold it against someone if she has had augmentation done, as I know plenty of women who have, but I do think it's ridiculous. Every single one I know that has implants got 'em to flaunt 'em....
  25. I'm only free weekends in July. I won't be out of school until August 18th. So, I'm afraid July is probably out of the question for me. I certainly can't afford to fly for just the weekend, and gas prices probably will prohibit driving either.
