Where can I buy tempeh and legumes???

Recommended Posts

They should be available at most health food stores and co-ops. I know there are 17 Whole Foods stores in L.A. so you can find them there. Wild Oats, Trader Joes, and other stores like that will mostly likely carry them as far as many other vegan protein sources.

Protein seems to be one of the easiest components of nutrition for everyone to get, vegan or non-vegan. Some foods are better than others.

Here are some links from the main site to check out: Just click and you'll get lists of vegan protein sources:

Good call Matt (matt had a post here, not sure where it went but he was suggesting that lentils and legumes can be found in pretty much any grocery store), yeah most things like lentils, legumes, beans, soy products, etc. will be found in pretty much every grocery store. These days most stores are carrying things like tempeh, seitan, flavored tofu, non-dairy "milks" and things like that.

You are in a great place (California) for some pretty incredible vegan and health-food stores too.

Oops, Robert...deleted my post after it repeated what you were saying essentially. We a local chain that's wonderful called New Leaf Markets:

Trader Joe's I've found to be pretty good for a national chain, but not all their stuff is organic and I believe we should all go organic for long term health, but I digress...

I think up where you are is a hotbed of health food stores as I have a mostly-vegan cycling buddy who used to live up in Oregon.

Beans, lentils, peas, and peanuts are all legumes. Nearly all supermarkets in America sell canned or dried beans and lentils, frozen peas, and canned peanuts. All are great foods, but mixed nuts and lentil stew are two of my all time favorite staples.
