A few updated pics....watch out for those legs!

http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c210/VeganBodybuilder/Bodybuilding%20Photos/venice1.jpg

Yeah I have to say your legs are amazing. Not the biggest by all means but it seems as though you're going to get striads on your quads which is awesome

BTW, do you have any "plan" on how to get your abs popping to the contest?

BTW", I'm freaking jealous that you've even seen Muscle beach. Fuck I wanna go.

They still aren't where I want them to be but I posted them recently

http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c210/VeganBodybuilder/Bodybuilding%20Photos/tan20.jpg

I also took a video of me flexing them on the beach and they looked pretty good.....but I can't figure out how to upload them on the "new" youtube site.

That biceps pose isn't supposed to show abs...it's hard to show them actually because of the movement of the pose.

I appreciate the concerns and it is something I need to work on and I am working on it.

I'll do some ab poses today.

If anyone wants to come to Muscle Beach or Venice Gold's....it's as easy as Vegan Vacation 09 because this is where we'll be

I re-watched the video I took, which I'll post shortly.....my abs still don't look that great so I'll have to do something about it.

They look "OK" but not bodybuilding good or great so I have 7 weeks to sort it out!

Seeing RC in person every day up until he departed for LA, i'm going to have to say that his abs were looking pretty good and as long as he comes in conditioned, as expected, he's going to be ok in that dept. I'm not worried. Actually, come to think of it, we're gonna start bringing our clothes to be rung out on your washboard once you get back.

Thanks for the feedback...I haven't been online much.....been training, eating, networking, exploring my future home in Southern California....etc. (not actual home, but the location I plan to call home, in 2009 or 2010).

My upper body is way behind my lower body but I hope to balance things out as best I can over the next 6.5 weeks. I've had some sweet upper body pics of arms and chest and back especially so that is good that those are all weaknesses compared to my legs because many see them as strengths.

I trained legs for 3 hours last night.

It was pretty crazy.....I'll post details later. I even did 6 sets of squats in the sauna until I almost passed out. I did 15 sets of lunges, some with dumbbells, some without and 10 sets of leg press going up over 8 plates on each side as well as hamstring curls, leg extensions, calf raises for like 8 sets....I hammered it!

I'll see Jay Cutler tomorrow so I'm pumped about that. I'll train later on today abs and shoulders and then hit up chest tomorrow and go for a run on the beach or in a park.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE it out here!

Today went to a vegan restaurant in a random part of town not even know for vegan places like Santa Monica is, and I saw 4 vegan places within 2-3 blocks...and yesterday same thing in a totally other random part of town, also not in Santa Monica, the main depot for vegan places in So Cal.

Anyway, update later........lots to do, supper sunny today and happy birthday to my youngest brother Clarke! He turns 25 today.

Thanks!

Off to Venice Gold's now...........didn't leave the gym til almost 2AM last night......abs and shoulders last night.....chest today and then a run in the sun.

Very busy these days doing things like this:

Hey everyone,

I'm filming a new movie! You've seen me fundraising like crazy, know that I'm out in Hollywood right now and many of you have supported my upcoming competition without even knowing I have been filming a movie around it. I kept it quiet because I really didn't know if I could generate the funds necessary in a timely manner to keep going.

I recruited Lean and Green, bvp663 (Award-winning Producer), and Octopussoir and we have been filming for the past 6 weeks and will continue to film for the next 3 months. Many others have played helpful roles too such as dropsoul, Richard, VeganEssentials, Tasha, etc. and all of you who have donated some funds, purchased a shirt, etc.

I'll provide more info soon and more will be on our website soon too. We only have quick teaser video at the moment because we're so busy fundraising to keep the project going. We're still in need of support to see the project through and we've all been working very hard to achieve that.

I'm very proud of everyone I've been working with on this NEW documentary that should be totally awesome and have an impact on many. Everyone who donates or contributes will be listed in the credits, as we've said all along...that everyone will be acknowledged.

Please spread the word. We have websites, banners, links, videos, photos, all available now and will have more later too as well.

------------

Here is some additional info on how to help out if you are moved to do so:

We are filming a documentary about our lives leading up to this bodybuilding competition. We have nearly 30 hours of footage and will likely have 100 hours of footage by time we finish filming in May.

We didn't mention our documentary at first because funding was so touch and questionable and I didn't want to say anything and not be able to follow through. Because of the support we've been getting, we've kept on moving forward and now we're confident everything will work out, though we are still seeking support as we move forward.

We'll have many more teaser videos to come...we are all so busy filming, fundraising, training and working that it is hard to go through the footage and edit things together at this early stage of production. We still have 3 more months of filming and this documentary should be due out in Fall 2009.

Thanks for the support!

Vegan Bodybuilders poised to make history with April 25, 2009 competition

For immediate release – By Robert Cheeke

VeganBodybuilding.com members Robert Cheeke, Giacomo Marchese, and Jimi Sitko are competing on April 25, 2009 in Phoenix, AZ at the 2009 INBF Best of the West Bodybuilding Championships – Pro Qualifier. We wish we weren’t making history but it seems that we probably are. For the first time we’ll have 3 (or more) Vegan Bodybuilders in the same competition, on the same stage, in the same weight class, at the same time. We wish this would have happened a long time ago, and perhaps it has, but as far as we know, we’re going in there to make some sort of statement for vegans in athletics and to make history for veganism. For information about the competition, please visit this link: http://www.donrobinsonproductions.com/inbf.html

We have been training extremely hard, working out 2-5 hours a day, pushing ourselves through each grueling workout, demanding excellence from our workouts and diets, and we are determined to make a difference, save lives, and promote veganism in a unique and positive way that should influence many.

If you are in the Phoenix, AZ area or live near by, we’d love to have your support in attendance! Or even if you live far away but want to be part of this historic event and watch it live, we’d love to have you there! Bodybuilding is a tough and demanding and expensive sport. On top of normal costs, we’re all flying to Phoenix to take place in this historic contest, staying together in a hotel and will be doing photo shoots, media interviews, etc. while we’re out there promoting our cause. With the added expenses, we have been welcoming and receiving donations from various members of the vegan community, family, and friends. All of my income from my various jobs is going into this project and it is exciting since we’re less than 7 weeks away! We’re still in need of additional support to make sure we all get out to Arizona for this event to make it happen. If you find http://www.veganbodybuilding.com valuable, or want to support fellow vegans determined to have an impact, please consider making a donation assisting three great representatives of the vegan movement in the upcoming competition. To make donations, please send them to: [email protected] via paypal (note the er ending) or mail any donations to:

Robert Cheeke

6103 NE 6th Ave

Portland, OR 97211

Anyone can make a donation, you don’t have to be in Arizona, or be a member of http://www.veganbodybuilding.com, but a simple paypal payment goes a very long way and all payments sent to me (Robert Cheeke) will be spread evenly among the three of us committed to this competition. I am handling the expenses for all of us including flights, hotel, etc. so sending it directly to me is the most efficient way to facilitate this. It’s going to be awesome and we’re really pleased to have your support!

There are many other ways to support our efforts and get something in return…you can purchase a Vegan Bodybuilding & Fitness clothing item, a Vegan Fitness Built Naturally DVD, or purchase Vega or Sun Warrior (two of our sponsors) products through our http://www.veganbodybuilding.com website and website forum.

You can also visit a NEW website dedicated to supporting our efforts here:

Thank you in advance for your support!

All donors will be acknowledged and thanked.

Check out our Blogs/Training Journals for our latest journals and photo and video updates: They are all found on the http://www.veganbodybuilding.com/phpBB2 forum and one link to get you started is here:

More about the documentary:

For Immediate Release March 6, 2009

Vegan Bodybuilders Poised to make History in April, 2009 Competition

And your opportunity to be part of it

Vegan iconoclast Robert Cheeke, selected as one of VegNews Magazine’s Most Influential Vegan Athletes, and one of Willamette Week’s most read stories of 2008 is producing his 2nd documentary promoting the Vegan Bodybuilding lifestyle.

The Vegan Brothers in Iron Documentary was conceptualized by Robert Cheeke (Director/Producer Vegan Fitness Built Naturally (2005) – http://www.veganfitnessteam.com) in 2008 with the vision of following vegan bodybuilders Robert Cheeke and Giacomo Marchese as they prepare for twelve weeks to compete in a natural bodybuilding competition in Phoenix, AZ in late April 2009. The objective is to show all sides of the process that a vegan bodybuilder goes through to prepare to compete in a bodybuilding competition with a story line that entertains the audience throughout. The documentary has a twist when top vegan bodybuilder Jimi Sitko, a favorite to defeat both Robert and Giacomo, enters the competition and makes the trip to the desert from Alabama. For the first time in history, at least 3, and maybe more vegan bodybuilders will share the same bodybuilding stage at the same time, making a loud statement for vegans in athletics. This documentary is being produced by award-winning Producer Brian Van Peski.

Robert’s first documentary has been featured in multiple film festivals and sold to people in more than 30 countries, making it one of the most popular and best-selling vegan documentaries in history. Robert vows that Vegan Brothers in Iron will out-sell Vegan Fitness Built Naturally and be more popular and more influential.

Robert and the producers of Vegan Brothers in Iron are currently seeking sponsors, donors and contributors to the funding and the production of this historic video project. All selected sponsors and donors will be featured in some way the documentary and given credit for their contributions. Filming has already begun and will culminate in late May, 2009 after the competition.

To contribute in the form of products, clothing, or financially, send materials to:

Thanks, we'll have many more teasers soon......we're all soooooo busy. I was telling Jay Cutler about the movie today.....he was training at Gold's Gym Venice while I was....took a bunch of pics, will post them later this week....super busy and tired.....I trained more than I slept.

I slept less than 5 hours last night and worked out more than 5 hours today including a new PB of 1,111 push-ups today

I was pressing 100's for many sets, including while Cutler was walking by. We had fun chatting about a variety of things and were both there for 3 hours + for that session. I went back 2 more times and saw his brother at Whole Foods later tonight.

Up late again and hiking tomorrow before flying back to Portland.

Been training like crazy out here, getting some good contacts, getting some sun, learning more from Brendan Brazier, etc.

Will post workout details soon.........just so much to do and up early again tomorrow.

I'm back in Portland........missing Southern California already, for a variety of reasons...........I trained for nearly 2 hours in the Canyon this morning, then ran on Venice beach for 30 minutes, hopped on a plane and then went to the gym with Tasha tonight for another hour, training back.

I had a really enjoyable back workout, focusing on deep reps and strong contractions. I'm actually too tired to recap it....I've been running on little sleep for the past 10 days and have been training 2-5 hours a day.........gotta rest now.....

REST! REST YOUR BODY REST YOUR MIND! =) see you tomorrow budday..............

It felt so good to rest today. I did not train or do cardio and it was everything I hoped for and then some. I literally 'felt' my muscles entering a recovery and growth phase the second they figured out I wasn't training them. It was the greatest feeling in the world. Plus it feels god to give my mind somewhat of a rest. Still fundraising and creating new ways to do so.

Spirulina? What about Spirulina.

I took the day off today....it felt nice....I probably should have spent some time updating my last 3 workouts but I didn't get to it. I did write a newsletter, post new photos, spend a few hours filming, and cleaned up my room a bit. I also spent some time with Tasha, Jessifly and bvp663.

I'll be back in the gym tomorrow.

Now I better get some sleep.

Yeah Buddy!

After a day of rest, I was in the gym and hammered out biceps tonight, followed by 25 minutes of rowing. I was there for 2 hours total.

Tasha went with me and I had a nice surprise when Lean and Green showed up to say hi. I hadn't seen him in almost 2 weeks because of my L.A. trip.

Anyway, as usual, tired and lots to do...plus an early morning.

It went like this:

Machine bicep curls

40 x 25

40 x 25

50 x 20

60 x 15

60 x 15

70 x 12

80 x 10

80 x 10

Alternating dumbbell curls

32.5s x 10

32.5s x 10

37.5s x 8

37.5s x 7

40s x 6

EZ Curl bicep curls

70 x 10

70 x 10

70 x 10

70 x 10

80 x 10

Hammer curls

40s x 10

45s x 10

40s x 10

35s x 12

30s x 12

Reverse Grip pull-downs

165 x 12

165 x 12

180 x 10

195 x 10

150 x 10

135 x 20

210 x 8

135 x 15

165 x 12

I did a few other sets of EZ curl bicep curls and then hopped on the rowing machine for 25 minutes and mostly used a supinated grip to hit the biceps.

I had some food and then got a spray tan and posed for a few photos. The tan doesn't set in real deep immediately but I took pics anyway. I wasn't pumped but I did flex pretty hard.

I'll post a few pics soon

OK, back to eating, working and then sleep.

P.S. join our Vegan Brothers in Iron group on FACEBOOK

Thanks Josh!

I appreciate the positive feedback...man with only 6 weeks left we're always stressed out, worried, unsure of ourselves, etc. It's all part of the pre-contest!

But in general, all is going pretty well.

Here are some updated pics.

March 16, 2009

I still have lots to work on, including abs, but I'll drop about 12 pounds between now and contest time and hopefully that will bring out some more definition.

Anyway...this is where I'm at....not "pumped" but flexing after doing a quick spray tan, waiting for it to set in:

I'll have more pics and videos soon...I update them frequently to have record of it during this process.

Better head to bed soon.

I trained abs and triceps tonight and also did a bit of posing.

I'm so tired (like usual when i get on the computer late at night) but will list some of it.

Lots of partner assisted ab work with Lean and Green and Tasha.

Maybe 6 different exercises for abs and we hammered them for over an hour I think.

Then I worked on triceps and did the following:

320 push-ups

Rope pull-downs

70 x 20

70 x 20

80 x 15

60 x 20

70 x 20

70 x 20

Close grip bench press

135 x 10

135 x 10

155 x 8

155 x 8

165 x 6

165 x 6

165 x 6

165 x 6

165 x 6

135 x 12

135 x 10

(I know lots of volume but Jay Cutler says it is the best exercise for triceps and he's my man! So that is how I rolled tonight)

Dips with small chain around my neck

15

12

15

Then I did some posing.

I also did 6 sets of standing machine calf raises

160 x 15

160 x 15

160 x 15

140 x 15

120 x 20

160 x 15

Good session of filming. bvp663 filmed for us and Lean and Green and I also had our little digital cameras taking youtube videos...that may get posted in the future.

Good times in general...now sleepy and have to be up early.
