tree houses

one day when and if I have money and I am ready to settle down, I dont want to cut trees down on the property I will "own". I totally want to build a real house up in a Tree and live there.

That's awesome. When I was in middle school I spent a lot of my free time with my friends building a tree house. We kept working on it until it was two stories tall, but nothing as advanced as the stuff in those pictures.

I've never seen a tree house like that before! I've only seen the little tree houses my friends had when we were kids, you know, the ones just big enough for three or four kids to sit down and tell ghost stories. Those photos are amazing!

I want to see a picture of the inside of a house with the tree trunk growing through a room. That would be peach. Like a pillar, but it's a tree.

This may be an ignorant question, but what happens when the tree grows and the trunk that you've built around gets thicker? Does the house need to modified, to accomodate growth of the tree?

Also, is there a way to protect against lightning damage?

I imagine you find an old tree that wont be growing much...and you calculate for its growth when you build the house. kinda like when you put siding on a house or floating wood floors...you calculate for swelling....expansion and contraction.

to prevent lightening, place a lightening rod up high, and then ground it to somewhere else on the property, therefore it reroutes the lightening far away from the home
