PitBullMommy
I've been a vegetarian since childhood and only began taking in higher amounts of protein the past few years (pretty much anything over 10 grams at a time) When I first began doing so, I was drinking whey protein shakes and always got horrible stomach cramping that lasted for about 2 hours after I drank the shake... I eventally got used to them and it was only a mild pain. I became a vegan last year and now I am having the same problem with the soy shakes; I hoped they would be easier on my stomach, but the pain is awful!! I really really need to suppliment with these protein shakes since I am preparing for competition, and other then the shakes I don't get much protein... my diet consists of mostly raw veggies.Does anyone have any suggestions??? Please help!!! Thanks!!! Edited January 22, 2011 by PitBullMommy
vegimator
Try pea, rice or hemp protein. Rice and hemp tend to be the easiest to digest.

Also, I found that blending soy with fruit made it easier to digest. Maybe that will help you as well.
kckas
I get an upset stomach if I take too much protein powder at one time. I usually take 30 grams a protein powder with water in my post workout shake if I go over that I'll get bloated and my stomach will hurt for a while. robert
Hope you find a variety that works well with you. Rice seems to work best with me.
