robert
Great! Thanks for the info love. (I called you love again) We'll bring a ton of food with us from Portland as we settle in to our Beach home. So no worries there. There will also be some places around LC that will have some stuff for us. During the 4 days we could always do a PDX run or day trip to Newport if we needed to as well. I don't know much about LC, but I'll look into it. Edited February 12, 2007 by robert
loveliberate
Darth, It's about 25 miles - 1/2 hour driving. I expect that we'll get most things in Portland before we head out but I always like to put a good word in for the local Co-op! Plus Newport is a fun town close to LC. loveliberate
LC has the "D" - short for Devil - river, which is only about 120 feet (36 m) long & is claimed as the world's shortest river. And yes, it does flow from Devil Lake to the Pacific! LC is also well known for it's kite flying festivals & for the glass floats hidden in the sands: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glass_float See Sea Lions @ Taft Waterfront Park, off 51st St. This is south of town - apparently the sea lions hang out on the edge of the Salishan Spit at the mouth of the Siletz River.
