  1. I'm 29 years old living in St. Louis, MO. My family is Hindu and no meat was consumed by them, only dairy. However I adapted a western diet and began eating meat from a young age. After giving it some serious thought over the past couple of months, I'm finding it impossible to morally defend eating meat. I want to transition to become a vegan, and am looking to start right away. I've been working out for the past 15 years though I have never followed a proper diet to obtain the results I desired. I tried a low carb diet last year, however I could take not the moodiness (nor could my girlfriend) and lack of energy. Over the past 6 months, I have followed a more balanced diet 35-45% protein, 30-35% carbs and 25-30% fat. I lift weights 3 days a week and do cardio 3 days a week with one day of active rest. During these 6 months, I'm down to 185llbs (22%bodyfat) from 215lbs and have made some gains in muscle. I'm very nervous about changing my diet since I've been happy with the results, but I know it's something I need to do. I've spent the past couple of weeks going through sample diets. My short term goal is to follow my diet and exercise routine a minimum of 26 days/month. In 6 months I will be turning 30. By this time I want to be vegan and at 15% body fat.
