  1. I want to build muscle , but have a bit of a gut to get rid of and am not sure if i should be doing only cardio until i get rid of my gut before lifting weights , and eating a muscle gaining diet
  2. Hi All, I have been vegan for almost a year now after a few failed attempts it's for good now. I am about to start training but i am wondering about the type of diet i should follow. I have a bit of a big gut right now, should i follow one of the bodybuilding diets which have seem to be geared for bulking up, or should i look for a weight loss diet, if so can i still gain muscle mass or should i lose my gut first and then start body building. Thanks for any help ozjay
  3. thanks for the reply tarzan, I dont know much about weston price ,but what practices of his relate to veganism , i thought he was against it
  4. Hi all, I have a question relating to a website that i came accross. It was saying that there is a condition called "failure to thrive" basically saying how long term veganism is unhealthy with people even dying from starvation even though they are eating because they dont absorb enough nutrients from food, it stated othe rproblems like hairloss malnutrition ,and the fact that there are no vegan centernarians .Has any study been done to prove or disprove this, I would think the centenarian comparision is unfair because they were comparing 60,000 vegans to millions of non vegans,on the malnutrition robert cheeke and the other athletes on this site don't look malnurished to me, but i can see it happening to some people, this is my second attempt at veganism , the first time failed because i'm used to a premade diet, so i lived on chips and noodles.Second time around i'm doing great i'm not missing dairy or meat at all.My main question is can a vegan diet alone be healthy enough or do i need to add vegan vitamins and suppliments, i also noted that a lot of their articles were old from the 30's 40's ect with people like weston price even ghandi was mentioned, apparently he tried a vegan diet with some followers and concluded it was unhealthy although he supported a vegetarian diet. I am fully commited to staying vegan ,but this webpage just scared me a bit thanks ozjay
  5. thanks for the info college b ,i went to dongguan the happy cow website mention 3 vegetarian restaurants ,i'm sure my boss should be able to arrange it,now that i have told him that i can only eat vegan, he was ok with that (even though he implied that people who are vegan ,only do it because they think it's cool to be different). The other websites were also helpfull even giving chinese phrases to say i only eat vegeatbles (wo chi su). I'm optimistic that my next trip will be as vegan as possible.
  6. hey jessifly ,sent a small donation your way sorry it couldn't be much more,i know wat it's like to have to pay for large vet bills , my dog was found to be diabetic and needed insulin injections, even the vet told us to put him down ,as it would be expensive and too much work for us,luckily my family helped with the bills and we gave him almost another year and he was happy until the end .im sure your cat will make a full recovery .
  7. xCx i agree with what your'e saying about morals and beliefs,i've sent a few emails to the airlines to see how they accomodate to vegans no replies yet,and have told my boss about my being vegan ,as initialy i didn't want to offend anyone or look bad in the eyes of the company as he came along to china with me,but i think everything will be better next time,or it will be my last trip, my conscience and stomach couldn't handle any more meat eating.i feel like im starting fresh again or that im a hypocrite.
  8. Hi all, I've just returned from a trip to china for work,my first time away from home as a vegan, the first problem i had was on the flight, vegetarian food no vegan(maybe if you ring in advance they could arrange it?),but the other problem was working in the factory, as they provided the food ,and i had difficulty trying to explain what i wanted as i did't want to offend,i just tried not eating the meat, but kept getting grilled about why i wouldn't eat it all,the hotel was te only place i could eat vegan, once the job is done they take you to a nice restaurant to celebrate and apart from fries theres no vegan or vegetarian,so i had the seafood, would it have been rude for me to just order fries, what would other people do in this situation.as i have to go again in three months and am thinking of not eating until i get back to hotel, but i am working thirteen hour shifts so i'll probally cave in. p.s. i was violently sick after the restaurant for a couple of days karmic retribution for eating animals again i think

  11. Thanks for the welcome ,i've been going through the site and having a good look around,I am starting to research my training and nutritional requirements to get into shape.I'm glad that i came accross an article about robert cheeke that lead me here,I've been told by my meat eating gym friends that a vegan diet won't provide enough protein to build muscle, But robert's proved them wrong, anyway i will keep looking through this site for help (I've never really worked out before so i've got a lot of learning infront of me) ozjay
  12. Hi All, Im a new vegan(2 months) and was happy to come accross this site,It took a bit of time to convert to veganism for me,i'm still being told that i will end up in hospital being fed through tubes (all out of concern and not enough understanding).I'm hoping to gain the information from this site and community to be able to research a proper diet and training routine. On my first month of being a vegan most days after i work i almost passed out because i wasn't getting enough nutrition ,now i cook all my own food , well mostly all of it,and I am feeling healthier and have a clearer consciense .Anyway thats my story for know sorry for the long rant. Bye for now. ozjay P.S. Does anyone on this site or in the vegan bodybuilding community have any books or dvds that would be helpfull in body building nutrition and techniques for sale
