vgtrian
Here's a place for my January journal. My goals are to fine tune my eating and to ramp up my exercise. I recently joined a boxing gym and I look forward to increasing my fitness level in this fun way.
vgtrian
Day 1Well, today was not the best day. I didn't get any exercise in. Feeling a little blah. My eating was not bad though - had veggies and hummus with sesame pita, some chili, almond milk with my vitamins. Nothing too exciting. Already have chili with rice, small salad, cashew raisin dressing and healthy chocolate pudding prepped for work the next two days.
kareno
I can relate, as I almost didn't get any exercise in today either and was feeling like I already failed. But, with a little encouragement from a friend (and knowing I had the forum here to keep me accountable!), I finally sqeezed in some exercises in the living room this evening. Good job on the yummy and healthy food! And extra kudos to you for preparing your food ahead of time for work. I know how easy it can be to be running late in the mornings and not have time to prepare lunch, and then having to scramble to try and find (and spend money on) something healthy to eat. So, that's great! Keep up the good work!
vgtrian
Thank you! I work 12 hour days so I really have to prep my food early or I end up eating frozen food (which just doesn't do it for me). Today was much better. I'm still in a bit of a mental funk, but I got off my tooshie and exercised. I couldn't get tot he gym in time for the boxing class, so I dug out some old exercise DVDs. I did one that has 5 10 minutes workouts (kickboxing, yoga, bootcamp, etc) and I also blew up my exercise ball and did the 50 minute video from that. I can definitely feel it! I wasn't too hungry today. I had some almond milk with my morning and evening vitamins. I had the lunch described above for dinner. Had some greens and some popcorn. That's all! vgtrian
So yesterday I was frankly too exhausted from work to exercise, but I did eat well. I enjoyed a green juice and banana for breakfast, chili and a salad for lunch. For dinner I whipped up a quick meal after working 13 hours. I had baked potato, broccoli and a few Gardein chik'n tenders. Today I am still pretty tired, and I may be fighting off a cold, but I plan to get some exercise in - either before or after my massage!!
vgtrian
Ok, today was a good day. I ate well and got my butt to the boxing gym for a class. Hour long class that really makes you sweat. I started the day with a green smoothie with about 1/2lb spinach, banana, mixed berries and water. After the workout I had a large, large salad, a couple chikn' tenders from Gardein and then later had some edamame hummus and pita. I ended the day with some strawberries. vgtrian
Today went pretty well! I had a smoothie about 2 which included spinach, beet greens, mixed berries, banana and about tablespoon of cashews. For dinner I went out and had a very large black bean burger and a side salad. I drank lots of water today, but am still thirsty! I went to the gym this afternoon and did 15 minutes on the elliptical and 45 minutes on the treadmill. I got up a good sweat! vgtrian
ok, another good day. I had a banana and a few cashews before going to the boxing gym for class at 1. Then I came home and had some edamame hummus w/pita and veggies. For dinner I had a smoothie with spinach, mixed berries, banana and a few cashews. I also had a few bites of 'tofu nuggets' at a party tonight. Stayed away from the sweets and the alcohol!!
vgtrian
Today I ended up just resting. I cannot remember the last time I really worked out three days in a row. Plus I feel like I might be fighting off a cold. So it was a mellow day. I had very little appetite (again with that and the fatigue I think a big is trying to take hold). I had a large smoothie for lunch/brunch with spinach, kale, and beet greens, mango, banana and strawberries. Then later had some homemade hummus with pita and cukes. That and my almond milk with vitamins is all I felt like today. I work the next two days - 12 hour shifts, so usually the best I can do post work is some yoga or stretching. I wore a pedometer the first few months I was a nurse and I averaged 5-10 miles of walking a day, plus I am turning and moving patients all day. That wears a girl out! : )
vgtrian
Ugh. It's not been a good week. I came down sick. I am finally starting to feel better today. Monday I think the only thing I ate was almond milk and a serving of steelcut oats. Tuesday was the same. No exercise - felt dizzy sitting on the couch! Today I am almost feeling like a person. I still have poor appetite. And no exercise today. I had some green juice. And a bean and rice burrito. I might have some granola before bed, but I'm not really feeling it. vgtrian
Thanks, Karen! Today I felt better, but still not good. Tried to eat more and take it easy. I still have poor appetite. I have to go to work tomorrow, so this should be interesting. For food today I had a banana, Candle Cafe frozen ravioli, some popcorn, hummus and pita. That and some juice is it. I just don't feel like eating anything and didn't have energy for exercise.
kareno
Take some tea with you to work tomorrow. I think tea heals all ails! Hang in there until you're feeling good. You'll be back to your fitness routine in no time! -Karen
vgtrian
So, I survived work and ate two actual meals today. Progress even though I still feel crappy. I had some green juice and banana for breakfast. Then Amy's enchiladas for lunch with some blue and black berries. For dinner I had potato with broccoli and some Gardein chikn tenders. Not sure I'll feel up to exercising tomorrow - we'll see!

vgtrian
I never get sick, so this illness just feels 10 times worse than it is. I am still low to no energy and poor appetite. And now coughing and congested. Ugh! Yesterday I just had a green juice and then picked at a few items from a no sugar, oil or salt vegan potluck. Today I had a green smoothie and then some pasta for dinner. Keeping it light and bland. I can't taste anything anyway! I have to work tomorrow. I am hoping by Tuesday I will feel up to exercising. Finding myself surprised at missing it!
vgtrian
I'm tired of logging on here and reporting that I am sick and haven't done anything! Today the exhaustion came back full force. I had a bean and rice burrito and some granola with almond milk. Will tomorrow be the day the tide turns? I sure hope so!
