Here is some info I got from www.care2.com (a site you should all check out sometime). If you are able to, try and plan on attending one of the four great 2005 summer conferences & festivals. Each one is a visit to the Garden of Eden. You'll be physically and intellectually nourished on all aspects of vegetarianism. I urge you to make plans to take off a week or even a long weekend to hear America's most informed and inspirational speakers. Your attendance can add years to your life, and will return dividends on your investment of time and dollars. Where: The Farm, Summertown, Tennessee When: August 10-14 Contact: (856) 694-2887 Website: http://www.AmericanVegan.…

I got this from www.care2.com They have a HUGE site with tons of great info and a couple of million members who are environmentally friendly. Check them out-Robert---------- IDA started Animal Guardian Volunteer Day to honor and recognize the strong emotional bonds shared by humans and companion animals. We also wanted to give people an opportunity to share their "guardian pride" by celebrating the spirit of this important relationship with other animal lovers. Last year's Animal Guardian Volunteer Day events in New York City and St. Louis drew crowds of people and companion animals as well as official recognition from elected representatives. This year, we are encour…

Does anyone else feel a little strange eating mock meat foods? For me it's not that they look or taste a bit like real meat, but when I eat something like tofu Salami, I am afraid people will think that it is meat and I don't want to be associated with it. It's not just that people in my community know me as a vegan bodybuilder and will think I'm "cheating" on my diet, it's just the fact that I don't want anyone, stranger or friend to think that it could be meat that I'm eating. So I feel a little awkward (sp) or strange eating tofu hotdogs and things like that in front of others. Does anyone else have the same feelings? Or am I the only one eating tofu turkey…

Hello, Heres a site ( www.aspca.org ) that advocates animal wel fare (you can see them on Animal Cops and other shows on the Animal Planet channel). They fight for animal welfare, taking animals from abused homes, and lots of other good things. You can fight cruelty by clicking on the Fight Cruelty link, and choose one of the links there. On the tab Lobby, you can click that and it will show many bills that are in office to help animals, and you can do all the ones in federal and in your own state. They have premade letters that you can send out and its really easy, they go by your address and get the Representatives of your state and emails it to them. Please help…

New dinosaur caught in the act Discovery shows transition from carnivore to vegetarian http://i.a.cnn.net/cnn/2005/TECH/science/05/04/dinosaur.diet.ap/dinosaur.jpg (AP) -- Scientists have caught a dinosaur in the act of evolving from meat-eater to vegetarian. The two-legged, feathered creature ate plants, but its bones show that the transition from its carnivorous ancestors was still in progress. All plant-eating dinosaurs were ultimately descended from a meat-eater, and switchovers to plant-eating occurred several times. The newly discovered species, which lived 125 million years ago in what is now Utah, could help scientists understand details of how the changeove…

I don't usually have time to watch too much TV, but tonight while cooking dinner I turned it on to drown out the sounds of maniacle 9 year olds playing in my sons room.~ Anyway I overheard part of a commercial that mentioned something to the effect of, "...provides complete nutrition for them too." Wondering what they could be referring to, I wandered into the living room to see that the commercial on was for dog food... I have nothing against feeding my pets nutritious food, but the commercial made me realize how many commercials I have seen over the years for food products geared toward adults (and especially kids) and they seldom, if ever, seem to tout many/any nutri…

TIPS TO SAVE ENERGY (I got this from Maria on www.care2.com) -Robert Adjust thermostats. Turn down the building's heating thermostat and turn up its cooling thermostat, especially when the building is not occupied. No Cost. Reduce the hot water temperature. Reducing the temperature on your water heater thermostat can decrease heat loss from your tank. For washing hands, you may be able to turn the temperature to 110 degrees F (43 degrees C). Dishwashing may require higher temperature settings such as 130 degrees F (54 degrees C). No Cost. Install water flow restrictors and aerators in sink faucets. These measures can save you money by reducing water use (includi…

If anyone is in the Seattle area (Bellevue specifically) there is a huge bodybuilding contest taking place called the Emerald Cup. Ronnie Coleman and a bunch of other pro bodybuilders will be at one of the biggest non-pro shows in the world. There are half a dozen people from my gym competing and about 4 dozen going up to watch so it will be a really cool event. My boss from work will be there too. He is a bodybuilder as well, so we have good times in the office. So check it out if you're around and be sure to catch it next near if you get a chance, it is one of the best events to go to and I've been to nearly all the major shows.
