Cold Fission
What type of pasta do you eat?Wholemeal? I avoid oats now and eat wholemeal spaghetti almost everyday. Get lentils in your diet. They are my favorite legume.Great bodybuilding food also. Do you eat soy?
beforewisdom
You can jack up your protein, vitamins, minerals and fiber by learning to like whole grain pasta. As far as beans go, I've typed in that information so often I made a blog post so I wouldn't have to:http://beforewisdom.com/blog/?p=1608
Cold Fission
Lentils are my favorite also. Something about them that just makes you feel pumped. I eat regular pasta but we use sea salt when cooking pasta to balance the glycemic index. No sugar highs. Do you eat the lentils from a can or the dry ones and soak them overnight? I get them dry in bags.Soak them for at least 4 hours.
gsop_3
Just curious...is there a reason for soaking the beans for four hours? Or can I just dump them into my pressure cooker and get the same results?? *Note: I currently use a pressure cooker and get beans done in about 45 minutes to 1 hour. I currently use a pressure cooker and get most beans done in 15 minuets. Chick peas take 25 minutes and soy beans take 20 minuets. I soak beans overnight to improve the texture, improve the taste, speed cooking time and reduce gas. I have written a lot about this subject on my blog so if you want to read further ( I don't want to type it again ) you can go here: http://beforewisdom.com/blog/?p=1608
beforewisdom
I read the article. Great job, I enjoyed it. Very informative. I'm still curious about the sprouting of legumes...is there any benefits to sprouting legumes? Sprouting neutralizes phytates. Phytates can interfere with the absorption of some nutrients. Soaking and cooking also neutralize phytates.
