wickwun
Hi everyone I am new to understanding my daily protein requirements, and I would appreciate any help in understanding this further. My goal is to build lean muscle mass. This is the way I understand it. Please correct me if I am wrong. My current weight: 75kgDaily protein required: 1g/kgTherefore, for a 30 day month, the protein intake required is: 2.25kg If we consider Hemp Protein, we know that the protein percentage is 50% per serving. I therefore have to double the number calculated above. Therefore, I need to purchase 4.50kg of Hemp Protein per month! Am I calculating my daily protein requirements correctly? Thank you. chrisjs
Well the "required" amount of protein for someone who's trying to gain mass varies depending on who you ask and what you specify is at the low end. I most commonly see 1 g / lb of lean body mass. Yes, your calculations are correct, assuming for some reason you wanted to solely eat hemp protein powder. There are many other cheaper and tastier protein sources out there. If you're looking for a protein powder supplement, consider pea, soy, or rice. vegimator
Yeah, keep in mind that damn near everything you eat (apart from straight up oil or sugar) contains some amount of protein. Your ordinary vegan or even an endurance athlete vegan doesn't need protein supplements as a rule. They just make building muscle easier.
