Fallen_Horse
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21325465 "Conclusion: There is a 3-fold increased risk of developing overt hypothyroidism with dietary supplementation of 16 mg soy phytoestrogens with subclinical hypothyroidism. However, 16-mg soy phytoestrogen supplementation significantly reduces the insulin resistance, hsCRP, and blood pressure in these patients." chrisjs
Not surprising. There were sixty participants, all with mild hypothyroidism, and six (10%) got significantly worse. There are a few different causes for hypothyroidism, I'd be interested to know if these six participants were somehow different from the others and if things like iodine intake controlled or at least observed.
