Bockman
HeyI've heard that the liver can only handle 70 grams of fructose. Is there any truth to this? Seems like a lot of people here have eaten a lot of fruit without becoming obese....So - this talk about fructose - is it a myth?
Guest
I think thats an estimate of what a person can metabolize in a given amount of time...thats not over a whole day. Plus some people don't store fat as readily as others...if we all had the same bodies we'd all look the same assuming we all did the same amount of activity but thats not the case. Zack
Personally I've had to worry about this, not out of fear of becoming obese, but because I have an impaired liver. An overload of fructose of any type is not healthy for the liver, but I think it's fine if consumed throughout the day. I personally don't feel optimal unless a large portion of my diet is fruit, it actually feels like it helps my liver more than hurts. Here is another thread I created about it. http://www.veganbodybuilding.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=7531
