joninvegaz
every six or so weeks, we max out on bench press in my systos class. my last recoded was 200lbs, but today i barely could lift 180lbs. since the last max, i've increased calories and protein, have been eating more healthy, and have increased 10lbs on my final set of bench. any thoughts on the decrease ? Zack
Did you train your chest recently before maxing?
Troy
Adding to Zack's overtraining question... Were you properly hydrated? Were you sufficiently warmed up? Was it at a different time of day? When was your last meal prior to the lift? Did you get enough sleep the night before? Any new stresses in your life compared to the last time you lifted? Did you get "psyched up", or as the new skool says "amped" enough before the lift? Do you have any injuries, joint soreness, etc...? I can usually pinpoint the reason why my body is weaker on one day than the next. I usually run through the above questions and at least one of them is the reason. Yeah what he said I find my maxes can vary a lot, and it is usually due to one or more of the factors that Troy listed above. If I'm going to get a new max, I usually know before I even lift, I feel strong and just great all round, so I know I'm going to hit a new mark. Guest
More carbs if your not eating many. You can't successfully fuel your body on protein...protein is for repair not for energy/power.
Lean and Green
For me, the spotter always made a difference for some reason. When I took someone with me who motivates me and pushes me, I always did better. Take one of your good pals with you......
