My visit to new farm animal sanctuary

Me, my brother and his girlfriend went to the new Hillside animal sanctuary which opened last weekend. The owner of the other Hillside sanctuary bought out this place which used to be a shire horse centre. Now all the shire horses are retired and the space is being used for rescued animals from slaughterhouses, or abusive owners etc. Plus it has a vegan cafe, it's a great place. It was absolutely freezing though, really windy and raining, I am still chilled after getting home.

What a lovely place and beautiful animals!

 

Did that pig only have one eye?

Yeah it seemed as though there was something wrong with one of his/her eyes - they were two different pigs, they look every similar. Most of those animals were in a pretty bad way when they came to the place, they each had posters next to them saying what they'd been through, most of them were starved and infected, it's infuriating. But great to be with those that are living a peaceful life now, and so strange that most of them are very friendly and allow you to stroke them, even after what they've been through

Yeah, I never eat food while i'm out usually, but I had a sandwich, and then I ate it. I like the mugs they have there with vegan messages on them too. The whole place is very anti-farming, poster all over the place explaining why it's cruel etc.

There's a place like that out here but they rescue animals from zoos and stuff like that. Very cool.

Awesome sanctuary....I'd love to volunteer there.
