  1. Happy New Year, to you, to me. Let the training begin!

    January 1st

Food: Ate poorly for breakfast, bagel with tofutti and tomato and leftover homemade marble cupcakes from Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World- but hydrated often through noon and had one green tea.

Completed a quick workout as children are waking up from their nap soon! Just got the New Balance Minimus sneakers and they are insanely amazing.

    Warm up run, 800 meters

Warm up: 15 pushups, 30 hollow rocks, 20 overhead squats, 10 shoulder mobility exercises, 10 crossover hamstring stretches

Workout: 3 Rounds of: 5 handstand pushups, 10 pushups, 15 squats in 3min51seconds

Will continue to rampage through our cleaning the house today, which burns tons of my empty cupcake calories from entertaining last night!

  2. Hi! I too am a vegan cross fitter, and after fatiguing the first month in, I realized I needed to up my calories while providing my body efficient fuel to burn for the intense workouts. I agree with Robert, and upped my intake of kale-sautéed or steamed with anything/everything is great, plus lots of lentils, legumes (black bean burgers, make a ton and freeze them for quick re-heated dinners), quinoa, love homemade energy bars using hemp protein- frozen fruit-cacao or carob and some nuts/seeds. Great for pre-or post workout protein intake!

  3. Psyched to be here! I am a 31 year old mom of two beautiful little people who are 'mostly vegan' (lIke Michelle, we let our children have pizza at birthdays and at daycare they have some cheese) but at home, our family of four is 100% vegan. We believe that if we instill in our children respect for all life, then we have done our part. They will make their own decisions based on our lifestyle and education.

I have been vegan for three years, and an 'aspiring vegan' since 2007. A passion for nutrition, veganism and being your best self, I have always loved the gym. After two very big babies were delivered, it took me a little bit to get back into 'working out' but met an incredible trainer and he kicked my butt into shape in 6 months. I followed him to his new crossfit box in Long Island (@crossfitrevenge) in June of 2011 and have never felt better.

I am proud to be a part of a community that is not only vegan, athletic and nutritionally minded, but a community that is impressed and inspired by females who choose muscle to be the new 'skinny'.

Looking forward to getting to know you all and congrats on progress, dedication and support!
