  1. Brilliant! thanks! I'm sure I will have questions. I have done a couple of similar rides to this when I lived in Texas, but there are LOTS more hills here. Nice to meet you!
  2. hey everyone! I originally joined this forum probably a year ago when I interviewed Robert on my podcast. At the time I was being very wishy washy about going vegan and not working out at all. I also lived in Jersey City and commuted into NYC every day, so I was riding trains for 2-3 hours a day. So, I lurked on the board for a bit but never posted and my account went inactive. Anyway, that was in the past. Today: I have been solidly vegan since November and LOVING it! I moved into Brooklyn where I am walking/cycling distance from my various teaching jobs, my gym and Prospect Park where I run three times a week. I cook for myself very frequently so I feel like my diet is pretty good. Oh yeah, I just turned 40 in June. I used to be a bit of a gym rat, and was very consistent with my eating. I ate 5-6 meals a day, but was very much in that meat/carb/veg at each meal mindset (I loosely followed Body For Life), so that is a bit challenging to move away from. One of the main things I hope to get from the forums is learning about what you are eating. As far as goals: DIET continue to learn about sports nutrition, vegan style ween myself off of white flour/sugar EXERCISE build muscle build endurance in preparation for AngelRide 2010 So I have been back at the lifting for a few weeks, simultaneously easing back into it and fighting the "this is all you can lift now, you puny little weakling?" shame. I have a running partner with whom I run three miles 2-3 times a week, and I was just given a bike, which I am riding to my various appointments around the Brooklyn. I am going to start mapping out some longer rides. I have about 11 months until the Angel Ride, so there is some time for that. I think that's all I got for now. looking forward to getting to know everyone!
