I LOVE Julliette Lewis too. I would logve to see her ad her band just to meet her.

You know what, she/they were with the Warped Tour here in Houston last year, and I didn't even realize it was that Juliette Lewis until we'd left. Didn't even watch them although we weren't watching anyone else at the time they were on.

Did you see the movie Dan?

What an underrated actress she is. She should have won an oscar for her brilliant portryal of serial killer Malorie Knoxx in Natural Born Killers. That was an Oliver Stone movie. I love Oliver Stone movies.

The whole cast was brilliant - even Woody Harelson who played her boyfriend pyshco killer Mickie Knoxx. I never knew that he could act until I saw him in that movie. What a great performance.

I have seen natural born killers a while ago. It was a good movie, although I do not have an eye for what is a good actor or acress. And about her band, I have not heard verry good things about it. But I have not heard any of their songs, so I will wait until I do.

She was also in Old School, but in that movie Will Ferrell stands out the most:) You probably have seen Old School, but if you have not I recommend you go watch it right away!!!

Did you see the movie Dan?

Yeah, I've seen it a couple of times. I had to watch it a second time to be sure that I disliked it as much as I thought I had. I usually love Oliver Stone, but that one was too much. His next one was even worse, haven't seen Hannibal yet.

See if you can find Tarentino's original screenplay for NBK, it's much better (IMO) than the film.

Juliette is a great young actress, though. My favorite with her was her debut, Scorsese's Cape Fear.

Well, when I say I lobve the movie Natural Born Killers, obviously I dont mean I love mass murder.

But that movie was brilliantly written, directed and above all, the performances rendered by Julliete Lewis and Woody Harrleson as Mickey and Malorie Knoxx were outstanding. These two were PERFEC for the roles, and no actress in Hollywood could have portrayed Malorie Knoxx as briliantly and convincingly as Julliette Lewis. I have to admit I like the "alternative ending" to the movie that is featured on the DVD - directors cut version.

I am curious to know what you didnt like about the movie and if you agree that Julietee's performance in it was UNBELIEVABLY brilliant?

Ya she was awesome in Scorsese's Cape Fear.

I havent heard her sing either except that time in the movie when she was alone in her cell after they got caught and she was singing "I guess I was born, naturally born, born bad." Apparently that was really her singing and she wrote that song herself for the movie. I thought she had a pretty good voice, but I dont think her band is the greatest.

also, where can I get Tarantino's screenplay of it? I was looking for it last year but couldnt find it anywhere

I always think Juliette's an excellent actress, whether or not I thought she was especially brilliant in NBK I couldn't say. The movie was just a little too surreal in spots for my taste.

You should be able to get the script from Amazon.ca. I think Amazon carries just about everything in print, and quite a bit that's not.

WHy havent i heard of any of these bands? Is this a generational thing? What category of musis are these bands? Will, you are only 5 years my junior arent you?

whats going on ??!!!

They were all big in the hardcore/punk scene in the early 90s, when I was in high school. Earth Crisis was a vegan-straightedge band, and Gorilla Biscuits were vegetarian - they had a song called "Cats and Dogs" that you might like. Here are the lyrics:

Man's best friend is beautiful and affectionate, an ideal pet.

Cats are the same, we make up their names and our love for them is real.

Listen up, I gotta ask you, how can we be so cruel?

You say you care, that's a lie.

My true compassion is for all living things and not just the ones who are cute so I do what I can.

I wanna save lives and I've got a plan.

Under the table he'll eat your dinner like the veggies we can't stand.

What kind of meal would he make?

We don't want to ask it.

Tradition is all that keeps him alive.

Listen up, I gotta ask how can we be so cruel?

You say you care, that's a lie.

My true compassion is for all living things and not just the ones who are cute so I do what I can.

I wanna save lives and I've got a plan.

Why am I so upset.

Don't even own a pet.

I am not trying to press my will.

I am not the first to say...

THOU SHALT NOT KILL

Full is all you want to feel.

We eat to stay alive, but it's their lives we steal.

I think we'd like to change,

but most of us are stuck, that's why cats and dogs have

ALL THE LUCK

--------------

Also, there was another great hardcore band from the 80s called Youth of Today, that have one of the best vegetarian anthems ever, called "No More"

Meat eating, flesh eating, think about it

So callous to this crime we commit

Always stuffing our face with no sympathy

What a selfish, hardened society so

No More just looking out for myself

When the price paid is the life of something else,

No More - I won't participate

We've got the power, we've got the might,

to take whatever is in sight

Not even worried it's an unfair fight

Well we've got a heart to tell us what's right

Our numbers are doubling in 88,

cause the people are starting to educate

themselves, their friends, and their families,

and we'll have a more caring, conscious society

Are you with me?

If you're with me, then say No More!

How come nobody shares my taste in music on these boards. I feel like I am from another planet!!

Anyone who likes punk music witha political tint ought to look out for propagandhi (they are from canada!). 2 of their songs exposed me to veganism, and i sang them for a few years before I went vegan then realized if I'm singing them so they better have some relevance in my life, so here I am now. Ohh yeah the 2 songs...

Apparently, I'm A "P.C. Fascist" (Because I Care About Both Human And Non-human lives)

Some of my otherwise brilliant and productive friends

(like scoundrels and their flags)

take final refuge in character assasinations;

they ignore the issue and deny the relation between our consumption and brutality.

So you can go ahead and roll your eyes and marginalize me

socially penalize me: play on my insecurities.

And you can feign ignorance, but you're not stupid, you're just selfish.

And you're a slave to your impulse.

And I kinda thought we all shared common threads in that we gravitated

here to challenge the conventions we've been fed by a culture that treats

(living, breathing, feeling) creatures like (biological) machines.

And if you buy that shit then how long 'till it's me who serves as your commodity?

Through (for example),

institutionalized violence and oppression of workers and women raped by sexism

(and how about native americans?).

Do you still insist on feigning indignance (aka: indignation) to reason?

To collective self-interest?

Tell you what- I'll call you on your shit,

PLEASE CALL ME ON MINE.

Then we can grow together and make this shit-hole planet better in time.

So why not consider someone else: STOP CONSUMING ANIMALS.

Nailing Descartes To The Wall(Liquid) Meat Is Still Murder Lyrics:

I speak outside what is recognized as the border between "reason" and "insanity".

But I consider it a measure of my humanity to be written off

by the living graves of a billion murdered lives.

And I'm not ashamed of my recurring dreams about me and a gun and a different species

(hint: starts with "h" and rhymes with "Neuman's")

of carnage strewn about the stockyards, the factories and farms.

Still I know as well as anyone that it does less good

than harm to be this honest with a conscience eased by lies.

But you cannot deny that meat is still murder.

Dairy is still rape.

And I'm still as stupid as anyone, but I know my mistakes.

I have recognized one form of oppression, now I recognize the rest.

And life's too short to make another's shorter- (animal liberation now!).

I love those lyrics too. Wow, thanks college.

peace

P.S. And at any rate, do we really want our bodies to act as graveyards for murdered innocents?

maybe i should write my own lyrics.
