  1. Hi Dax, Vegetarian here living in Orlando. Welcome. New to VBB as well - I just joined a few days ago. I'm not sure if there's a way to search for other members living in FL... anyone know? -Christopher

    Hey

Well I really don't like to cook so my meals are very basic. I'm a sandwich kind of guy... Ultimate Meal (green smoothie) with apple/banana and a serving of salad or spincach daily if I can Whole wheat or 7 grain bread Hummus Veggy cheese Rice milk Sprouted grain cereals 7 grain oatmeal Odwalla protein shakes Brown rice & garbanzo stew or other type of bean Veggy pizza (dairy) Bean Burritos (non dairy) Blue corn tortilla chips Rice burgers/ veggy burgers Peanut/almond butter Olive/coconut oil Avacados if available I do a mix up of those ingredients ALMOST daily unless I eat out. Since I cut out eggs I have even less of a menu. I don't miss the eggs, just the variety of easily prepared meals. I just bought the ingredients to start making veggy hummus wraps- got the idea after eating at green cafe. I'm not too keen on soy products.
  3. Michael Phelps eats about 8 eggs in one sitting...not to mention all the other junk food he eats (to increase carbs). http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7562840.stm Tom Cruise would probably tell him to eat healthier in order to cure his ADHD.
  4. Hey, every little bit helps. But if someone's driving at night in the dark I'm sure it would be okay to leave the lights on!
  5. No I wouldn't eat the Petrie Burger. 1) I'm sure the "meat" itself would most likely be GMO (genetically modified). Not to mention hormones, preservatives and other nasty synthetic additives. 2) I probably wouldn't like the texture - I have a hard enough time eating some veggie burgers. Not to mention I already dislike some textures of real meat. 3) I don't miss eating meat when there are so many awesome alternatives out there - thankfully I have Garden Cafe. Also, the "cell cultures" would still need to come from a living animal. Who knows how they would go about harvesting the cells/tissue from the animal & what about the treatment of the host? Even if lab meat becomes a viable competitor to farming, I doubt it would taste the same, thus driving up the price for "real" meat. It will probably be lauded as the savior for poorer countries, but the lack of nutritional value & food additives could end up being more harmful than eating actual meat itself. Look, some countries in Africa already reject GMO maize despite having major food shortages. Why? Because studies show GMO raises toxicity & alters hormones. (http://www.naturalnews.com/021784.html). I'm sure this type of meat would also fall into the same category. What's sad is that we're already eating GMO foods and don't realize it. I wish the government would stop playing with our food sorry for the long answer haha.

  7. Well personally, I try to avoid fluoride by using natural toothpaste. Yes you shouldn't swallow fluoride, but minute amounts are still swallowed while brushing & via water supply. Also, how do you stop children from doing so? Especially since toothpaste geared toward children are candy flavored? I remember I used to eat toothpaste as a kid! haha Excessive fluoride during tooth development as a child causes dental flurosis. Lots of people have this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dental_fluorosis or even Skeletal fluorosis in people who have consumed excessive amounts: http://www.irc.nl/var/irc/storage/images/images/source_images/fluorosis_victims/264043-1-eng-GB/fluorosis_victims_medium.jpg http://www.fluoridealert.org/health/bone/fluorosis/ Dental fillings (silver amalgams) contain mercury - and the ADA still won't ban them. Remember, there was a time when there was "No Link" between smoking cigarettes and lung cancer. So I wouldn't count on the ADA or even the FDA to admit it causes more harm than good any time soon.

    Hey

Thanks everyone for the welcome! Robert: I was a bit shocked to hear that you liked Orlando so much. Cool, not many people say that... I like Orlando probably b/c I don't know any better Jimi: I've been reading through journals to get some new ideas on what to eat - sometimes my meals become a little monotonous. Johan: Wow. 180s is my goal. You must have been eating all day long! How tall are you?
  9. Thanks for the heads up - I'll be sure to look for them at Chamberlin's or Whole Foods. It doesn't really matter if it melts, I just need the flavor & texture of cheese.

    Hey

Currently a vegetarian & I'm trying to gain muscle mass. I met Robert at Vegfest in Orlando & I'm now getting around to signing up on this site. I've always been thin, weighing around 140lbs with a very small appetite. After getting a trainer & eating a lot I climbed up to 160lbs- the highest I've ever been. I haven't been able to keep the momentum going, but I'm not giving up though! I'm working on becoming vegan; I avoid fish, dairy (except for cheese) & I recently cut out eggs after finding a mini-blood clot in one. Nice. I have a feeling the transformation will come soon... (picky eater). Glad to see vegan bodybuilders out there who prove that it can be done! -Christopher
  11. Has anyone ever tried scheese? It's supposed to be vegan "cheese" imported from Ireland. I recently heard about this & plan on making a trip to a health store to buy some. So, is it pretty good or just a waste of money? Sounds disgusting, but I'm willing to give it a try. I have been having a hard time, no...a very hard time finding a cheese substitute. I love cheese. And yes I know what's in it.
