I noticed that some Clif Mojo bars I bought seem to stick together very well, and the only ingredients that I can see in them that might cause the stick are brown rice syrup or maybe gum arabic. Does anyone know which ingredient it might be? I really love trying home made protein bars, but none of them stick together well enough for me to take with me!

I live near a Puerto Rican grocery store. They sell packs of 4-5 ripe bananas for about 50 cents. Add in some lentils, garlic, onions, celery, romaine lettuce, and frozen berries for cheap eating all day.

If you are interested in taking a very quick survey and following our journey, we would really appreciate it if you could participate in our s…

Hey everyone, i wanted to know if anyone had some good recipes that i could prepare in bulk on the weekend or something, divide into portions, then eat throughout the week that are nice and high in protein, i was thinking, some sorts of bean chillis, vege burgers, soups and stir fries right now i'm finding it hard to fill my caloric goals, and ratio goals, so i thought it would help alot if i could prepare alot of the weeks meals in advance, right now i've just been cooking for dinner, about 2 servings, and eating the 2nd one the next day, but i don't always have time and energy to cook, so it means i have to russel something out, usually without thinking about it tha…

Looking for a place to buy plain Tempeh in bulk. Anywhere from 24-100 8oz packages or thereabouts. Would like to not pay over $2 each including shipping. Cost is $3-4 local but goes on clearance for .99 cents sometimes and I stock up if I am lucky. Any ideas/links/opinions welcomed... Thanks, Ron

Here's a quick chili recipe that I've been using while bulking: - 2 cans of Amy's Vegan Chili * If you can't find Amy's, anything with similar nutritional info would work - (per can) - calories: 445 / fat: 14g / carbs: 55g / fiber: 11g / protein: 24g ... or you could make it from scratch, but then it wouldn't be quite as quick... - 1 cup cooked quinoa - 1 1/2 cup cooked red lentils - 1/2 cup nutritional yeast - 1 1/2 cup cooked kidney beans Everything is already cooked, so I just mix it together and simmer for a little while to let the flavors mix. I split it into 3 meals, so each has: Calories: 625 Fat: 11.8g Carbs: 94g (Fiber: 26g = Net Carbs: 68g) Protein:…

I am considering purchasing a dehydrator. I do not want to invest in an excaliber or similar model right now. I want to see how much I use it and how well I incorporate the long dehydration times into my schedule. I am considering this model. Does anyone have experience with it? Warning: this is anathema to the uber-healthful eaters who don't do any processed products or artificial sweeteners and who avoid sodium. I'll tackle these vices one day; until that day comes, here's how I make salad, raw veggies, and even raw fruit the tastiest muthafukkin' thang in Phoenix, AZ! (Well, maybe not as good as vegan cookies, but still)... 2 parts Torani sugar free raspberry syrup (available at Smart & Final) 1 part yellow mustard (I buy the cheap store brand) 1 part cider vinegar (balsamic if you don't mind spending a little more and can afford the, what, 15 cal per T?) That's it. Drizzle it on your salad, add some Hi-Lo strawberry, almonds, cho…

Fast and easy, and quite good. Calzones: 1 6-8" pita shell 4 oz firm tofu (cubed) 1 tablespoon vegan mayonaise 1/4 cup tomato sauce 1/2 tomato (cut into small cubes) 1/4 teaspoon dried basil ground pepper (to taste) Mix the above together and spread mixture on pita shell and bake (open faced) at 350 F (10 minutes in a toaster oven) until pita shell is crispy and toppings are hot. Remove from oven, fold over, and enjoy!

I am starting prep for a bikini competition in December. I want to be extra planned so I am set up for success. I see that carb cycling is popular for this category, but I am a vegan. Has anyone else done this? If so, can you offer me some websites and/or examples of this. I currently weight 135 and I am looking to drop some body fat. I believe my body far is somewhere in the 30% range and I am looking to drop it to 15%. Any help would be great. I would prefer an e-mail because I don't know if I will check this very often. [email protected] Thanks!!!

Hey all. I have been vegan for 6 years and while I have my workout and diet pretty well in hand I have a challenge for you. My partner and our son are both omnivores and most nights we fix three separate meals as mine is vegan, my partner's is meat based and my son's is kid friendly. Any suggestions on options that would allow us to all eat the same thing, thus giving us more time as a family? They are a little tired of pasta as that is one thing we can fix and then each personalize it without much extra work, so we have it a few times a week. Since my partner seems to desire meat several times a week, recipes that would allow him to throw some meat on the top at…

This is a favorite in my house, and i've come to find out that my relatives grew up on this! Shred Carrots, apples, add lemon or orange. optional dried fruit (let sit for a few minutes so they absorb the water from the salad) Raisins, figs, pineapple are some of our suggestions. We tend to eat it without the fruit, it's so yummy either way. And it tastes even better if allow to sit so the flavors mix, even the next day or so it will be great

Miss cheese? Not anymore! Ingredients: 1 package raw and unsalted cashews from Trader Joe's (or equiv., I think about 16 oz.) 1 - 2 tbsp stone ground mustard 2 tbsp nutritional yeast flakes (find at Whole Foods) 2 tsp ground black pepper 1 tbsp dried oregano 1 tsp salt Note: You can add whatever other spices you like to vary the overall recipe. I think some fresh dill would be awesome, or even some curry powder. Instructions: 1. Soak the cashews in water, an airtight container, for a few hours, or overnight; until soft. 2. Drain cashews, and rinse. 3. Combine the soaked cashews in a food processor. 4. Add all other ingredients, except the water. 5. Blend unt…

Thought I'd throw up a good "recipe" idea here. I was just thinking that you all may enjoy this if you haven't tried it yet as I just heard of this idea a month ago and love it. I love homemade stirfry but really don't always want the carbs for rice. So take a head of cauliflower(sp), throw it in a food processor, and chop it up until it's rice size pieces. Use it in place of rice. Super good, and so good for you. And very carb conscious if you're dieting or watching calories.
