Anticon is a group of musicians who are vegan and they claim that being vegan helps their ability to make good sound. You can find them on the web at anticon.com and there are plenty of youtube videos out there. I would recommend listening to Alias & Tarsier - Dr. C Sole - Sebago Why? - Rubber Traits Alias & Ehren - Sixes Last Alias - Watching Water Jel - All Around good places to start.

The contests are extremely close this time around! This is the final day to vote. After this, we'll give it a week or so and then begin the final contest (best overall physique) which will allow lots of photos from different angles and we'll give an additional prize along with the free t-shirt. We'll also do a recap of all the winners, highlight a lot of the runner's up and highlight those who participated heavily. Anyway, vote for abs. These people have worked hard and deserve some sort of recognition and support for their accomplishments. Thanks!

http://www.tucsoncitizen.com/ss/letters/102123.php Re: The Oct. 27 story from The Associated Press, "Yuma class teaches fighting cancer with good eats": I'd like to correct some misconceptions about an animal rights group that posed as a legitimate medical-advice charity. The article made a mistake in referring to an animal rights group targeting hot dogs in school lunches as "a national cancer group." The misnamed "Cancer Project," which preaches ...

I don't know much about this, it was an e-mail sent by one of our forum members, daria. I thought I'd post it: hey peeps for those of you who get those lottery forms in the mail...where you can buy tickets and get entered into draws for cash, cars, homes etc and the money goes towards medical research (ie cancer etc) the postage on those things is paid...so take a moment, fill it in (minus ordering a ticket) and put a against animal testing sticker, or just write it in...that you do not support animal testing it's easy to check if they test on animals...either by giving a quick call or checking out http://www.caringconsumer.com/ hugs d:)

Did anybody here ever listen to Consolidated in the early 90s? They were fucking awesome and a true inspiration. If you don't know about them...they were a hip-hop/techno group that were pro-choice, vegetarian, pro-gay and lesbian rights and anti-war/Bush I. (This was during the first Gulf War)If you can, get their cd "Friendly Fa$cism"..it is AWESOME!!! In many of their songs they would lay down beats and play samples of people speaking at their shows...the best is some dumb woman yelling at them and saying "meat is good and if you don't like America, go live in Russia"...she also says "god said man shall have dominion over the animals, not a big wad of tofu"..to which…

A note from the Editor of VegNews: This past Friday night in Los Angeles, at the 57th annual Maggie Awards--the nation's largest and longest-running magazine recognition honors--VegNews was named "Best Lifestyle Publication" by the Western Publisher's Association. This was our third Maggie in as many years. After taking home "Most Improved Publication" in 2006 and "Best Signed Editorial" in 2007, we are thrilled to finally accept the Big Prize, which we had been nominated for each of the past three years. Joe was also up for "Best Interview or Profile" for his tribute piece on the late Gretchen Wyler, "The Actress and the Elephant," but had to settle for a no…

n her stimulating book, The Lifelong Activist: How to Change the World Without Losing Your Way, Hillary Rettig argues, "[M]ost people seem to leave activism involuntarily, and that's a problem on many levels. When an activist burns out, she typically derails her career and damages her self-esteem and relationships. She also deprives her organization and movement of her valuable experience and wisdom. The worse problem, however, may be that when an activist burns out she deprives younger activists of a mentor, thus making them more likely to burn out. And so it's a vicious circle, with burnout leading to more burnout" (p. 16). Rettig's text, which could have easily been …
