hilary wright
6 of our 7 edit stations are Adobe CS . . . 3 are mobile laptop stations . . . one is an older DPS Velocity system. We are PC based, and my business partner builds all of the systems herself. I used Premiere Pro, AE, and photoshop for this video.
hilary wright
Youtube compression sucks for FLV and mp4 as well (IMO). Here is a smaller much lower resolution flash video I am hosting myself.http://www.agastar.com/Veganbb/2008ARhighlights.html Youtube compression is especially bad for any movement. The video I uploaded to youtube is 83 MGs and this one is only 28 . . .
robert
Great Video recap of the event! Awesome stuff and I really appreciate it! We'll get it on the main site soon and I can send out a press release to some of the groups who were there. Thanks!

hilary wright
If you convert videos to mp4 or flv first sometimes the youtube compression isn't as bad because those are the file formats youtube uses. Yo, have you had any luck with Youtube compression? I have tried every format (MP4, MPG, WMV, FLV), single pass VBR, dual pass VBR, large files, small files et all. My best luck has come from 640x480 FLV or wmv at the highest resolution possible. We use Sorenson Squeeze as our compression codec. Any thoughts? robert
Well on it's way to 200 views so far this morning/afternoon I'm sending some press releases out about it. Hilary you rock, if I haven't said that a Baker's dozen times already!

I'm on a Mac with FCP andon quicktime compression (I think it's mp4) it usually works great on utube, but it seems like it depends on each film, like if there is lots of action, movements and camera pans it's gonna make horizontal lines sometimes. Tim VanOrden made some tests of various compression and arrived to this result:

hilary wright
Thanks, I'm your man . . . yes, it's the movement and graphics that I have the most problems with. But that is inherent with compressed video. Some of our web videos are fine at 350 kbps, but others need 1,000 kbps to look decent. Youtube is still daunting for me, being a videophyle for resolution. (or maybe I'm just a cranky old man)
Katabatic
Nice video and quality! I noticed the video on the front page of the site starts transferring data without even clicking play. Just pointing that out because it will use up your bandwidth unnecessarily
