lieslieslies
Hello I am a total weightlifting newbie. My goal is to get strong, strong, strong, to lose fat and get lean. I've been vegan for five years and have been working out for about as long: just finished Insanity and currently working through "Ripped in 30". Toying with the idea of starting Crossfit but want to get my diet under control first. I started working out initially to improve my mental health after 25+ years of being a total couch potato, and it changed my life absolutely. I'm 34, weigh 140lbs and am 5'3 and 1/2 (that extra half inch is very important). I'll probably lurk around a bit to get orientated, but if anyone's got any advice for someone just starting out I'd appreciate that.

C.O.
Welcome to the community. What is your name? Yeah definitely that 1/2 inch is important haha, I always add count decimal points when mentioning my weight. Keys for starting out: 1. Consistency (the more you skip workout days the slower your progress will be)2. Form and posture (if you aren't lifting properly you could be doing more harm than good)3. Diet and rest (make sure you're eating a variety of foods, getting all of the nutrients your body needs and getting ample sleep). Cheers, -Dylan
lieslieslies
Hi Dylan That sounds like good advice - I'm gonna start slowly and build up gradually with patience. My name is Enid.
