I was born and raised in the DC area so I can give you A LOT of info.

First off, here is a Squidoo page I made a while ago on eating veg in DC: http://www.squidoo.com/vegdc.

My favorite vegetarian restaurant in the world is outside DC: Sunflower. You HAVE to go there. I highly recommend General Tsos and the Fried Chicken appetizer. That pleases everyone.

My next favorite restaurant is in the city: Java Green. I recommend the Spicy Chicken Rice Bowl, drumsticks appetizer, and you MUST get a frappe (even if it's cold outside). I recommend the Sunset Beach or Mocha. Just ask for them with soy.

Sticky Fingers is a great vegan bakery. Tons of good stuff.

Soul Veg has amazing food as well. I recommend the Sunday brunch.

Feel free to PM me for more info. I can any veg-related questions about DC.

Yes...you MUST go to Stickyfingers and say hi to Doron. Its a great place. Soul vegetarian supposed to be incredible too...but if you can leave DC and go into Maryland I highly suggest you visit the Vegetable Garden in Rockville. They have an awesome key lime pie and everything else they have is equally amazing. I live about 40minutes away(sans traffic) and I'd love to meet you there or maybe in the middle at the Vegetable Garden.

Thanks for the information, you guys. I'll do a bit more looking into the places you've suggested.

We're going to fly in to DC and will be staying in Falls Church VA with a friend. Transportation-wise we will be dependent on whatever transit system there is, and our friend.

VP that'd be awesome if we could meet up. I'll keep you posted as to our plans as they shape up. Right now we're looking at Nov. 9-13.

Hi there and welcome to the boards. You in Arlington I'm guessing? I was living in Arlington until I moved out here to Seattle last year.

Yes the Sunflower is great! I love that place. We also have ZPizza now (www.zpizza.com, tons of locations) Awesome pizza with soy cheese, wheat crust, and a veggie meat option. There is also a cool little place called Clare and Dons Beach Shack in Falls Church. (www.clareanddons.com) Tofu "crab"cakes, Coconut tofu and blackened tofu are a few items on the menu. I like them because you can go veg without going ethnic which is a nice change when you're eating out. It's a little hole in the wall and I can't say the food is spectacular but I would definitely go back. I will support any restaurant that makes an honest effort to provide some good options for us veg folks.
