Guest
Awesome news. Thats something we definitely need to do. Unfortunately there's too much car/gas money in the politicians pockets to mandate that any time soon.
beforewisdom
Awesome article Zack, thanks for posting. That is an awesome business idea to get around the high cost and short life of batteries. A subscription service that allows you to swap exhausted batteries for fresh ones without the risk of owning the battery. That should drive the cost of the electric cars down too as the battery is one of the most expensive parts. That is also good for when batteries improve. Your subscription service can just give you a better one, as with cell phone.

Unfortunately there's too much car/gas money in the politicians pockets to mandate that any time soon. After other visible countries, like Israel do it, it will get harder for the governments and corporations to snow job the public when giving them inferior solutions. People will be able to see people/countries like them using it every day.
Guest
I don't know about that. Americans are even skeptical when it comes to things they can see. Just look at social medicine where it does work. People here will only revert to referencing places where it doesn't work. We're far too slow at taking part in innovation on a large scale other than having HDTVs. All the govt. needs to do is say how expensive it is...people won't see that it'll really be cheaper in the future.
Zack
An american company is building the infrastructure in Israel. We're not really behind.. It will just take more time to move a larger country like the US to electric, than it would Israel. All in good time. Things are moving in the right direction. We were ahead a long time ago and reverted back. We had some diesel cars and it just stopped. We had a few decent solar cars in the works then gave up on that too. All for newer ideas that can make others that already have money to make more. Look at public transit...that isn't really getting anywhere either. American's just don't like to change anything. Zack
Look at public transit...that isn't really getting anywhere either. My city operates with electric buses downtown...That seems like somewhere? Progress is being made, but it should be faster. At any rate, it will take some time to change the infrastructure of the US. Guest
Sure but we're behind so many places that are large too. We should at least have these things completed in our major cities but even our major cities have crappy transit systems compared to much of the rest of the world. Just look at Japan...if your late for work because your bus/subway is late you actually get legal permission to be late to work because their system is so accurate. Could you imagine that happening here??? And thats in a country where most of its major cities make our major cities look like small towns. Hell our most advanced train system is in Disney World...whats up with that?
