Hello, Everyone! My name is Stephan. I'm 41 (almost - birthday is in December) and I'm having some big challenges achieving the fitness and aesthetics on a whole foods plant based diet that I did previously. A little background about myself: I'm a long time Ashtanga Yoga practitioner, an avid swimmer and have lifted weights of and on all my life. I also have the T. Colin Campbell certification in Plant-Based Nutrition for eCornell. I also have a law degree and am pursuing a Masters (Engineering) in Computer Science. I first became vegan (not wfpb) in 2004. That didn't last long, and I regularly ate eggs and fish (but no dairy). I began to eat meat again in 2011.…

Hi everyone! My name is Will and I am from Vancouver Island. I have been eating plant based for about 6 months now and have been lifting in the gym consistently for about 4 years. I've joined the forum to further my knowledge on plant based eating and training and to share my experience and knowledge with others. I would also like to gleen information on what you guys feel is lacking in the vegan space in regards to food products. At least where I am from, I think we could benefit from having more convenient, high protein, plant based food optinos, such as frozen bean burritos, etc.. stuff that can be cooked quickly when on the go! What are your thoughts? Looking forward…

What's going on everyone, my name is Semaj. As I'm typing this there are a range of emotions going through my body (Excitement to have found a community of like-minded individuals who I can hopefully inspire and who can provide insightful feedback and support, some fear of the unknown and of changing old habits that may no longer serve me, and an anxiousness to get started). This is my introduction post (my first time ever writing in the Vegan Bodybuilding forum), so with that being said I'm going to give you all a brief personal background as well as what I'm looking for in being here: I first started working out when I was around 18, but I wasn't serious about wor…

hi everyone, nice to have found this forum. i've been vegan about 2 years and have been strength training for about 6 months (with the first few months not really knowing what i'm doing). i'm a 34 year old guy and have always had a very small frame and decided to try to bulk up. i'd never really done strength training before so i've seen a lot of strength increases in what i can lift. when i initially tried to bulk up i basically just ate whenever i wanted and quickly grew in size. initially i probably ate too much because while my body proportions and strength are much better than previously, i am still at a relatively high body fat percentage (my guess is 24% or so)…

I started eating vegan for lent due to watching the documentary COWSPIRACY. Its been a goal of mine to be vegetarian in the past but I never ate much dairy to begin with and now have an understanding that the dairy industry is pretty brutal. I started out eating whatever I wanted for the most part as long as it was vegan, also doing a lot of raw foods. At this point I have come full circle and am not trying low carb vegan. My husband and I eat the same diet and are looking for new friends and connections to maintain this clean lifestyle (non of our friends family or even acquaintances eat this way. Look forward to hearing everyones journey. Calm & Clear Love & Lig…

I joined this forum to get some advice from fellow vegans about bodybuilding as I've recently started working out. I've been vegan for about 9 months, and I've been hitting the gym for almost a month now. I'm still trying to get the nutrition part down as well as I can, but eating enough calories seems to be my main issue. From browsing the forum so far, I can see you're all very helpful with giving advice, so I thought I'd join. It's nice to know I won't have to dodge the usual anti-vegan broscience comments and whatnot on a vegan bodybuilding forum.

Hi everyone! I'm newbie here . I've just chosen vegan recently due to my health problem in the past. I used to spend extensive time sitting and working before computer, combining with my lack of exercising eventually causes my body to be weaker. And so I thought it's time to change my daily life activity, I'm still noob in this matter so I hope to learn more from you guys. Thanks!

Hi guys, vegan since 2000, but only been lifting for 6 months. It's been interesting to say the least especially as most lifting advice seems geared to omnivores... it is what it is.

Hi guys, I'm a 27 year old fitness enthusiast from Connecticut,USA. I've been into boxing and BJJ my entire life but I've been into lifting kettle bells the last 6 months. The progress has been steady and consistent and I have to say the vegan diet I've been on the past 2 years has helped in explosiveness and recovery. I was a vegetarian prior to that didn't eat eggs so the transition was painless. Lots of ingredient list reading but I'm much more careful as to what I put in my body nowadays. Thanks for having me!

Hi, I am new, first post on here. Currently, doing the Master Cleanse Day 8. No problems ( 2nd time I have done the MC ) Have stopped Red Meat and Pork for about 4 years and was new vegetarian for last almost 3 months. I found I was leaning on junk food and dairy completely and had to check myself on that. I have so much to say but will end my introduction with saying that I plan to emerge out of the Master Cleanse and into Vegan Land Pray for me !

Hello, I just joined, and thought I'd tell you guys a little about why I'm here. I've been bodybuilding on and off for about ten years now, yet I have always felt something wrong with eating so many of my animal friends. When I was starting out I just couldn't see a way to build muscle without animal protein, and as time went on it just became habitual. Anyway, I had never been a big fan of vegetables growing up(that's changed some now), but as far as fruits go, I haven't met one I didn't like. But I digress....I feel like I'm headed down a long hard road, but in my mind, that's what's going to make it worth it. I just need some help along the way. I live in the mid…

I've been vegan for about 3 years (previously a vegetarian) and I've been running for about 6 years. I have recently been sidelined by an annoying hamstring injury and started to get back into bodybuilding/lifting (was heavily into lifting back when I went to university some 30 years ago!). I'm 5'10", 173.4 lbs and I'm looking to regain strength and some bulk while dropping my fat %. I've been using Jefit to track my workouts and eventually would like to get back into running as well as doing some triathlons but mostly want to regain my strength. I'm hoping to learn a lot from here. Ido (pronounced "ee-dough")

I am 37, 6'5",340lbs. New to veganism. I work out off and on. Currently 5 days a week. Super into life as a vegan, I know it comes with health benefits but it was an ethical choice for me. I really need help on calorie intake/calories burned per day. Im trying to lose about 2 lbs a week. I keep seeing different answers in differentent calorie calculators online. Any help with a formula would be appreciated. I still want to keep or gain the muscle I have or will gain. Thanks.

Hi everyone, my name is Andres and I've been vegan for over 3 months now. Since making the change all I've wanted to do is to educate and inspire others to do the same. It's amazing what we've been told our entire lives and how much of it is a lie. I never thought I'd be able to make the change to a plant based diet and give up meat! I've been bodybuilding for 3 years but training for about 6 years now. Going vegan has increased my energy levels dramatically and made me feel better all round. As I mentioned above I want to educate and inspire people so what I've been doing is writing a blog and started making videos on YouTube. I'd love for anyone to go check them out…

Hey guys! Stephen from Texas here! I've been a vegan for roughly a year and half now, and have loved every bit of it. I look forward to getting to know you guys here. My fitness goal is really single-minded. I want to be between 10-12% body fat, but I've been stuck at a plateau for a while. I'm hoping that joining this board, I can get some ideas on how to break through this plateau. Also, I've attempted to post to other parts of this board, but they have yet to appear. Any help is greatly appreciated. Looking forward to learning from you guys!

Hi guys, I'm Frankie, and I'm a 21 year old newly vegan; aspiring bodybuilder. I've been touch and go with being vegan for the last couple of months, finally making the decision and transition yesterday!! The biggest thing that held me back from taking the plunge sooner was the taboo around being a vegan bodybuilder. For a long time I convinced myself and was convinced by others that animal protein was necessary to build large amounts of muscle. I then realised that I actually wasn't eating much meat by any standards anyway and had already made the change to being completely dairy free 2 months ago. SO, with vegan protein purchased and all left over meat in the house …

Hi, guys. I'm joining this forum because, although I've been vegan for almost four years, I'm having a rough patch now in terms of health, body image and body composition. A lot of it has to do with things I can't control, like my job and where I live right now, but in any case I'm passionate about both veganism and exercising, so nice to meet all of you! My favorite types of exercise are running and yoga, but I also love getting stronger by lifting free weights or doing body weight exercises. I've done a tiny bit of HIIT, and I don't hate it but I hate it. You know? In any case, I use a lot of Fitness Blender routines and really like their website. I also love aerobic …

Hi there, My name is Kona. I live in Portland, Oregon. I have intermittently begun eating vegan or the last couple of weeks and feel ready to make a longer term commitment to it. I have been reluctant thus far in my life to be vegan. Historically I have been a really hard gainer in terms of muscle mass and have feared that without eating meat, gaining muscle would be even more difficult. I have no aspirations to be a bodybuilder, but would love to "thicken up" a bit. I have switched my workouts up a bit over the last one to two months, logging and monitoring more workouts and making sure I increase my volume weekly in one form or another (increased set, weights, reps, e…

Hi there everyone! I am new to this lifestyle, was actually informed by my Dr. today that it would be a good idea. I have been lifting weights for quite a while now and was eating very clean (usually 1 portion of fish, and a half cup barley) for most meals about 6 times a day. Now I am changing it to a vegan lifestyle. So my question is, what is the portion control per meal so as not to over eat? Thank you very much for your time, Stan

Hello from Ohio, I am 28 years old 6'0 280lbs. I have been overweight my entire life and i am finally done. I want to get into fighting shape and also live as long as possible. My true ideal is to be 6pack,huge arms shredded. I have been looking into juicing, vegitarian, vegan lifestyles for months now and to be honest it's all alien to my Burger filled mind. I know I'm finally ready to make the plunge honestly because last night I made my family my world famous spaghetti, I had a salad. I have a wealth of questions: I work on the go(driver), can I use meal replacement shakes ext. Sun warrior? I really need someone to help me out to get a diet that goes w…

Hello everyone! My name is Elena, I'm 25 years old, I'm from Greece and I found the forum while googling about vegan bodybuilding. I've been lifting for about 3 years now and it took me a long time to figure out how everything works, from training to nutrition and all that stuff that can be quite messy at every new beginning. I started lifting after going through a phase of 8 months having cut out meat from my diet but still consuming eggs, dairy and fish. I was searching online about vegism and vegetarianism, I couldn't stand the idea of animal cruelty. Unfortunately after some bad blood tests I was pushed by my family to go back to eating meat to up my iron and ferrit…

Hi I go by the name reborn. A few years ago things were looking grim for me, I was sick and fat and weak. I learned of vegan life and its benefits. I became a vegan and in 2 months completely rebuilt my body and stuck with the gym. I remained vegan for over 2 years After 2 years I was sick of eating alone so I added plain meat to a vegan based diet in efforts to find people to eat with After 6-9 months of same problem I returned to vegan diet. During my time as a vegan I have noticed that my bowel movements were always frequent and my stomach would bloat and I would have flatulence. This ended my gym workout sessions generally after 90 minutes as I would sorta need to go …
