JLat86
What are the advantages and disadvantages of the various non-dairy drinks like soy milk, almond milk, etc.? Which one do you like the best? Why? Are the stories about soy and estrogen true?
Vegan Joe
Rice, I like it because it light. Soy gives me to much gas, flavor is not that great.Oat is good but costs more. I usually get rice and almond at Trader Joe's.
lobsteriffic
I get soy milk. I didn't really care for rice milk (although to be fair I only tried it once). My husband is allergic to almonds. Hemp/oat/whatever else is too expensive where I live.
Jx28
I have only had soy chocolate and vanilla but want to try almond, I am surprised to see it has almost no protein content though.
Northstar
So far I have tried soy, rice, and cashew, and have had quite a bit of each. Rice is my favorite because like Joe I like it light. Almond is nice when you want something creamier, but it has more cane juice than actual almonds in it (at least the one I have bought, almond breeze). Fallen_Horse
Rice tastes the best, but soy has the best nutrient profile IMO....
chrisjs
I use soy because it's cheap and readily available. But I don't use milks that much anyway, just a splash in coffee and in the occasionally-made pancakes.
Marcina
I used to go through SO much soy milk, but I'm getting better at making it last now.I haven't tried cashew milk though, that sounds really good! Mmmm... My favorite treat will always be chocolate almond milk
Adena
I like soy milk because it's an easy way to get a little more protein into my day...No, most stories you have heard about soy and estrogen are probably false. It will not give you man boobs. It has phytoestrogens, which are very weak estrogens. Most of the research done that shows a negative impact of soy involve tests performed by injecting animals with far more soy than a human would normally consume.
