Shelby
Anyone have any secrets for bulking up the top portion of one's thighs? No matter what I do (leg ext, squats, lunges....etc), the middle portion bulks, but not the upper portion. Urgh.
jonathan
Its probably genetic. If you are doing squats (to depth) you will bulk your entire leg, so the fact that you arent bulking the top is probably genetically predetermined. I only do squats and I have stretch marks from growth on the top of my quads... Jonathan
Kathryn
That's kind of the way the muscle is built, isn't it? Wider in the middle (the 'belly' of the muscle) than at the top. The more developed it is, the more pronounced the difference would be.
Crash
Have you tried sumo squats? (Scroll down near the bottom of the page.)
Shelby
Its probably genetic.I don't think it's genetic, b/c my mom has thighs bigger than a linebacker (no offense, Mom, but I'm SO jealous of those thighs! And she doens't even work out!) If you are doing squats (to depth) you will bulk your entire legMaybe I'm not descending far enough. I try to go 90 degrees, but maybe I'm actually not. Or, I could be going too fast and not contracting long enough at the pause before the eccentric. Hmm... next time I do legs, I'll keep this in mind. flanders77
The top portion does not bulk? Never heard of that problem, sorry!I know that doing leg extension a certain way can train especially the lower part (near to the knee). But isolating the upper part? I will ask a professor at my university.
