joelbct
On a random note, I somehow moved to Oregon 3 weeks ago. I may go and may stay, but anyway, following are some pics I took of the coast by Yachats. -Joel http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j6/joelbct/JBerryBW2Oregonforweb.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j6/joelbct/JBerryBW1Oregonforweb.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j6/joelbct/JBerryBW3Oregonforweb.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j6/joelbct/JBerryBW4Oregonforweb.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j6/joelbct/JBerryBW5Oregonforweb.jpg
Odidnetne
That's awesome. All I ever see when I look off of the Pennsylvania coast is New York...and sometimes New Jersey.

Richard
Hahar, with some photoshopping and contrast, I could make some of those look like Silent Hill.
joelbct
Wait a minute........you're in Oregon now????? Yeah, my lease was up and I thought I would try something new, I am in Eugene. As first I was a bit unsure, but it is growing on me, and I'm staying at an awesome place about 5 miles out of the town, very beautiful. Tons of vegetarians and vegans too, I met one guy on a temp job, and our manager recommended we go to McDonald's for lunch, we both sort of looked at eachother uneasily, and it turned out in the ride to go eat elsewhere, he was a vegetarian too. Very cool. Anyway, I'd love to check out Portland, I have a cousin up there, so it is on the agenda, I will keep you posted. Plus Demetri Martin has a show there in November! -Joel
loveliberate
Nice photos! I love the coast - I'm not as fond of all the clearcuts you have to drive through to reach it... I used to live in Eugene and really like it there. I even have lots of coupons for cool stuff there. It's great to have you in Oregon - please do come visit us in Portland! robert
I visit Eugene a couple of times a month. Let me know if you want to meet up sometime while I'm down there. Want a side job down there? I'm looking for someone to do Vega demos in the area. It's two hours from where I live, but there are a handful of stores down there carrying Vega and in need of demos. If you're interested, let me know Welcome to Oregon!

joelbct
Richard- That's amazing, but what is Silent Hill? And Robert, I will have to try the stuff, but I could probably do that, although it looks like I will be starting a 9-5 Monday, so I may be available weekends? And loveliberate, I notice plenty of pristine land from the plane, but it got pretty patchy in parts as well, as did the coast. Odidnetne, does Pennsylvania have a coast?? Maybe a few riverbeds -Joel Edited April 25, 2009 by joelbct
Astrocat
That's amazing, but what is Silent Hill? I think it's awesome ! Silent Hill is the title given to a series of computer games, and there is now also a recent Silent Hill film as well. Here is an informative description of the Silent Hill series - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silent_Hill And, some examples of the sort of artwork used to illustrate the posters, boxes, etc - the images were of this sort of 'sketchy' quality originally, as it's a style which fits in with the feeling of the games quite well. Silent Hill 2 game box-art - http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00007M9SI.01-A3A0QZ9FNO1IC9._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg Silent Hill 3 game box-art - http://www.galaxisnet.hu/termekkepek/normal/pcg/pcg_silent_hill_3.jpg Film poster - http://clan.is.free.fr/silentHill/affiche.jpg The environment outside tends to be pretty misty / foggy, and rather bleak - the scene which Richard used looked rather Silent Hillish to begin with, but it Silent-Hilled up nicely, and now looks rather more so. For example, this is an in-game scene :http://www.xgpgaming.com/xbox/images/SILENT%20HILL%204%2003.jpg Please excuse the large images - I'm not using my own computer right now, and the server for my webspace for VegansRock is down right now, so I've just linked to the images rather than resizing them, uploading, then linking to those.
