Hi guys I'm a 16 year old smallish guy, I've been vegetarian all my life and have been working out the last year or so. I've gained muscle, but not increase in overall size. so if i look in a mirror with my head chopped off i look ripped but as soon as i stand back my head looks huge. im not sure if my head is big, or my chest is small, so whats the best exercises for bulk, and what would you eat. as a vegetarian i eat some eggs but would rather move away rather than start mixing dozens into smoothies sugestions would be appreciated

In weight lifting, low reps can go with heavy weights. But in bodyweight exercises, there is no weight aside from bodyweight. So if i can do only 5 regular dips, i add a backpack and do three. Just an example....point is, i make bodyweight exercise difficult enough to do only five or under five reps. is my method efficient to create hypertrophy?

I'm trying to research how to get started on a path to being a bikini competitor but I'm a little overwhelmed and I'm not sure what guidance I should really be following. I thought I posted earlier but it isn't popping up so I'm trying again. Right now I'm 26, 5'3, 127 lbs, probably around 30% body fat. So far, I've lost about 5 lbs in the past 6 weeks. My goal is to lower my body fat to about 20% and then reevaluate. I tend to build muscle/shape in my glutes easier than others, which is why I chose a goal of bikini. As an initial big goal, I want to get into off season shape, then reevaluate if I want to actually compete. I've never gotten my body to that point before,…

Hi Guys My name is Christoffer and I'm new to this A friend of mine have challenged me to become a fitness athlete on a vegan diet... To me, in the beginning, it wasn't logical, but I've changed my beliefs about the vegan diet Now I want to put it to the test, and show it to the world You guys love being vegan, obviosly, and you like to promote this as an healthy alternative. I would like to do the same. You know... the commond way to approach fitness is a high meat protein diet, heavy weights at the gym and of cource DRUGS. That's just how it is... but I want to show the world the road less traveled: Doing Fitness by only using calisthenics and a vegan diet. (N…

A few months ago after reading the China Study I've decided to become vegan ..after 28 year I was an omnivore, and in the last 4-5 years I've consumed meat/ milk/ eggs / whey protein everyday. Also in the last 4-5 years I was going to the gym 6 days / week and I've felt very good and my performance in the gym was awesome. Now after switching to a vegan diet problems started to appear in the gym. In the beginning I had to drop the weight because I just could not lift the same weights as before ..and some time while I was lifting heavy my hands started to shake a little bit that I've started to become dizzy. In the beginning I was thinking that probably I have a bad day a…

Hey all, Been working out seriously for about 6 months now, and have been vegan for about 2! I got burnt out on what I was previously doing in the gym, so I decided to switch things up a bit. I am primarily going for overall fitness and strength, but definitely do want to add some mass. I'm hoping you can take a look at my routine and give me some good constructive criticism on what is good about it, and what you think I should change. I do a 3 day rotation twice a week, as I've marked below. Here's what I've been doing for about the last month: Legs (Monday/Thursday) • Leg press • Lunges • Jump-ups (basically jumping onto a raised platform as fast as I can) • Qua…

I just stumbled across a thread on veganfitness.net which looks so awesome! Il paste it right on here, please give it a go if you're able, could be really fun and interesting "Okay folks! Now let's get it on! We all know there's nothing more hardcore than high rep squatting To make this challenge appeal to lifters of various levels, there will be two contests: 1. Highest number of reps with your bodyweight. I'm talking bodyweight on your back here! Most people who lift weights should be able to do at least a rep with their bodyweight, so no excuses here! 2. Highest weight squatted for 50 reps. Self explanatory really. I think most fit vegans on thi…

Hi, I am mostly vegan, 43, 140 pounds, 6 feet tall. I am thin and out of shape. I have had a trainer in the past, so I know what to do in the gym, but it’s been a while. I just rejoined 24 Hour Fitness and have been out of the gym for about 2 years. I am looking for a game plan to get back into shape and gain about 15 pounds. I have read some books - “Body for Life”, some of Tim Ferriss' 4 Hour Body. Seen some P90X, so I know about "muscle confusion". Obstacles: Rear part of left shoulder messed up from a moped crash (don’t laugh) as a kid. Right hip hurts on and off, since I was about 20. I have a "poochy belly" from I don't know what. I don’t like it. Curre…

Hello, I'm just wondering if this routine is really good for all the muscles. I think it may be lacking traps and maybe lower back. Can you see anything missing and would you suggest adding anything to this? • Pullover + Yates’s bent row • Shoulder-width leg press12 • Pec-deck + weighted dips • Leg curl • Reverse thick-bar curl (purchase cut 2″ piping from Home Depot if needed, which you can then slide plates onto) • Seated calf raises • Manual neck resistance • Machine crunches This is from Tim Ferriss's book The 4-Hour Body.

Like the subject says - left shoulder (weak side) soreness won't go away for a couple weeks now. Been doing Stronglifts 5x5 for 3 months now, was doing great but now I can barely do the overhead press and bench that I was easily doing 2 months ago. Soreness is there all day even after icing, hurts to lift my arm over shoulder level. Wondering should I shut the whole thing done for a few weeks or keep doing what isn't problematic (i.e.. squats and dead lift)? (I'm 49, male)

Hey everyone my name is Dan and I've been vegan for three whole years. When I first started out i was actually a raw vegan for about the first year (crazy, right?) and to be honest I loved it but it was hard to sustain so I became a regular "cooked" vegan but still eat plenty of raw fruits and veggies. I know it's been said and we all know this, but just to confirm, not only is being vegan highly conducive to strength gains, it's also fantastic for recovery. When I started this journey I was only 18 and training heavy doing squats, dead lifts, and Olympic weightlifting. Because my work outs never have more than 3-5 reps, I never got jacked, but my muscles did get la…

I travel (by plane) multiple days a week so carrying food isn't practical, I was thinking about protein powder but cant decide between rice, pea or whey. Looking for advice or guidance. Thanks much

I am actually following a strength program of 12 weeks but after that i would like to try out CrossFit although is very expensive, but it seems like a lot of fun and very exhausting. Have you ever tried CrossFit? do you have some opinions about it? What do you think? It seems like a lot of people trash it

I weigh only 72 kilos but have a little fat around stomach. So I thought maybe I could go on a 500 calorie deficit while lifting weights. I am assuming this would target stomach fat (since i have no fat elsewhere). So even if I lose 3 kilos, at least those 3 kilos will be from stomach area. Once that happens, I can start clean bulking and reach 75 kilo. Is this plan ok, or will I lose muscle if I start calorie deficit at this time?
