Fallen_Horse
I know, I know, it's a highly personal opinion. But I will give some examples of musicians/bands I think are intelligent and maybe someone here will have some artists I would enjoy as well! And by intelligent I mean that they don't generally sing about money or sex or other similar subjects (so rap is pretty much out haha). Dallas
Rage Against the MachineMudvayneMike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Tomohawk) -- though his lyrics are only there to mix with the instruments -- he's intelligent when interviewed.System of a Down/Serj TankianRollins Band

LesArgotiers
Going by your provided list: The Weakerthans, Refused, International Noise Conspiracy, Bloc Party, Death Cab For Cutie, The Shins, Bright Eyes, Cursive, Hot Water Music, Fifteen, Jawbreaker, Kevin Devine, The Format, Joe Strummer (The Clash, "-" and the Mescaleros). None of my workout music is intelligent. That is, other than Propagandhi.
Northstar
Thanks for the suggestions Dallas, but oh man that's it? Nobody else!? I have many recommendations, but do you like jazz, blues, fusion, folk, and instrumental? A lot of intelligent musicians seem to flock to these genres. Fallen_Horse
Thanks for the suggestions Argo! And Northstar, I tend to like indie and alternative rock. Blues and folk usually put me to sleep, and jazz and instrumental usually don't have vocalists.
